Femara trials

Common Questions and Answers about Femara trials

femara

Avatar n tn It is very hard to ascertain if Femara can directly cause fibromyalgia, since this condition or side effect is not routinely reported or classified in the clinical trials that used Femara. What Femara does, however, is that it can have a side effect in bone metabolism causing decreased bone mineralization that can cause bone pains and sometimes may lead to increased incidence of fractures. Hope this helps. Regards.
Avatar n tn The CT scan showed that the swollen lymph nodes have now shrunk back to normal, the masses in her pelvis have gone and the only thing thats left is a small spot in her liver which they are not sure whether its cancerous or a scar left from the cancer. They have given mum a hormone tablet called femara to take for the rest of her life which they have said is an anti cancer drug and will kill any cancer cells. Has anyone had this? I am pleased that the chemo has worked.
Avatar n tn Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. The benefits of FEMARA in clinical trials are based on 24 months of treatment. Further follow-up is needed to determine long-term results.(http://www.femara.com/content/femara-what-is.jsp) Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I tried first tamoxifen made me tired and nausous then I tried Femara, the pain was so great in my joints and muscle went off it I am now on Arimidex and 5 months into it it seems ok. I have gone off it once before one of my races because of pain. Arimidex is in the same family as femara only a little gentler..As my doctor said he doesn't know if it will help and it is not chemo but I am 16 months past chemo and have been on an estrogen blocker the whole time.
696423 tn?1229791707 There is DEFINTELY hope!!! thats great that you had two or three follies, it only takes one after all! we are about to do our (i think) sixth - gosh i've just lost count, may be seven, but i think its sixth IUI in about 12 days or so.. i have gotten preg with two follies one time and three the other.. but miscarried both times.. so here we go again! but it deftinely works! we did femara the first two IUI's the rest of them have done follistim and femara..
Avatar f tn I know a few women that have been on estrogen blockers, femara, armidex, etc and it has kept the disease stable for awhile...someone I knew was stage 4 that survived 9 years on armidex.....can't hurt to ask the doctors...also, check into clinical trials.....the most important thing, DON'T GIVE UP....there are many more drugs out there and they will keep trying til find one that might help.
Avatar f tn There are several that you can google. Femara, Aromatase, Aromasin, and Tamaxifen. Some of these inhibitors are also for Breast Cancer. Sorry if my spelling is wrong. There is another inhibitor called Avistan (not for hormones). Hope this helps...
1268191 tn?1278457609 Clomid is NOT a friendly drug to women with PCOS you should really ask to be switched to femara it tends to produce better response and there is a lot less side effects!! You should be on metformin if your not already. My hubby and I have been on the ttc rollercoaster for 3.5 years now so if you need anything else just let me know! It's always nice to talk to someone who has been through the same trials. good luck.
Avatar f tn There are also aromatase inhibitors being studied. These curb estrogen production. Femara is one. Another area of study is MMPI-matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors-Marimastat is one made by Bayer. Another is made by Ageron. There are phase iii trials ongoing to look at chemotherapy and some of these type agents used in combination. To learn more about clinical trials, visit the National Cancer Institute's web site at http://www.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials.
1152301 tn?1331591080 My follicles quit growing AGAIN! This has haddend on 3 rounds of clomis 5 rounds of femara and now follistim.. WTF? What am I giong to do now I can't afford IVF. The military covers nothing for that, and we looking at having to use donor eggs... I'm 22 yrs old, this isn't suppose to be happining to me! I'm mad, sad, depressed, irate, and wasting so much time! I'm done! Congrads to the both of you, ya'll are very lucky!!
374593 tn?1257879950 Would vitamin C (1000mg or more) help with fertility and endometriosis while undergoing fertility treatments? (IUI's with femara, and progesterone supplements) Since they say that endometriosis has an immune component, I was curious if adding more vitamin C supplements would be useful in combating that? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
144100 tn?1283522567 First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
Avatar n tn I didnt get any response from any healthcare providers on my Tamoxifen/Femara question regarding weight gain and loss. Can anyone answer that question for me.
1160836 tn?1332330169 I have been taking Femara the last 3 month, I also take metformin and esterdiol since my lining does not get thick enough on it's own. I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!
Avatar f tn d like to discuss trying femara for this 6th cycle instead of clomid since it thinned my lining so much for this cycle. But..I want to know..can I expect the same type of results from femara as I have with clomid? On 100 mgs of clomid, I have had a mature follicle ready for trigger on Days 10 and 11. Thoughts? Thanks!
320424 tn?1205500555 and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, After 3 months of Femara I suddenly developed carpel tunnel syndrome. My entire right arm became numb in the middle of the night; I thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. I called Novartis & they sent me the requested 9 pages of info about musculoskeletal side effects, the most common being carpel tunnel & trigger finger. I saw a hand specialist who provided hand braces and said I would eventually need the surgery.
Avatar f tn So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....
Avatar f tn There are also trials. As far as toxcity is concerned that is a question for the Dr. I have never even thought about asking my Onc that one as I do respond really well to chemo....but still I wonder. Good luck..I'll keep your MIL in prayer.
Avatar f tn Hi,thank you very much for your replies.Any way I got my period and purchased femara with doctor's prescription.Actually my periods are irregular.Doctor asked me to use femara after i got period. So before period I was normally searched online femara tablets and costs. Now I am using femara which were given by doctor's prescription. In the same hospital pharmacy only I took the femara tablets.Once again thank you.
216278 tn?1308861082 So, I took Femara for the first time this cycle - 10 pills on CD7 (he'd rather do them on CD3, but since my cycles have been running long, he took a chance). Anyway, I've been waking up with rather severe tummyaches and intestinal cramps and also getting massive headaches (borderline migraines) in the afternoon.... Could this be due to the Femara?
Avatar f tn I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.
