Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar n tn Hello, Femara (letrozole tablets) is approved for the adjuvant (following surgery) treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor–positive early stage breast cancer. Femara is also approved for the extended adjuvant treatment of early stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are within three months of completion of five years of tamoxifen therapy. In the adjuvant setting, commonly reported side effects are generally mild to moderate.
Avatar f tn It appeared my eggs were not maturing on their own and I kept getting cysts. I am now 19 weeks pregnant. My treatment was femara, injection for 3 days, HCG shot and IUI. Your doctor will find a treatment that will work for you. Keep your hopes up. I remember choosing to not be stressed out about whether I was going to get a positive or not and it worked for me. Good Luck!!!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with HER 2 and estrogen positive breast cancer and been treated with chemotherapy and Herceptin. My oncologist has recommended a five-year treatment of Femara; however, I have high blood pressure (norvasc), osteopena (sp) and high cholesteral (pravachol). I really don't want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer.
144100 tn?1283522567 First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?
Avatar f tn My last session of chemo was in july 2010. Radiation ended in sept 2010. I have been taking Tab Femara plus tab bone one and zomata (inj) from october-2010. Now I started to have in left knee joint pain. I have spoken to my doctor who advises, it could be post chemo/medication caused and may go away with a passage of time. Now i am going to undertake Bone Scan on advise of doctor. This Bone Scan was earlier done which was okeyed by doctor.. What do you suggest I do,. Your advise?
Avatar f tn Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???
Avatar f tn I was on Femara and Necon for 3 months to treat endometriosis. 2 weeks into treatment I started getting side effects like scary muscle pains throughout my body especially in my chest and legs, unable to concentrate and focus, memory loss, joint pain ,anxiety, rage, depression... the list goes on and on. Every time I would call the prescribing dr with a side effect he would tell me it is not from the medication.
Avatar m tn Hi and thanks for your reply, We are still trying to find out what the rash is - it is inside and around the vagina, and has also appeared in the creases inside the elbows on both arms like 'welts'. Itches and is angry looking. Are waiting for swab results and they have ruled thrush out.
557306 tn?1239989954 -Do 3 more months of Femara/IUI (he also said "maybe getting pregnant on your own") -IVF -Surgery to fix the bowel/TRY to fix some endo (he said he's more comfortable referring me to another surgeon (his collegue) to do the actual surgery - at the same office) SO, my question is, what would you all do?
Avatar f tn Femara for the treatment of infertility. Some of these studies showed that Femara is more effective than Clomid, while other studies showed that they are equally effective. A few studies have suggested that Femara may be effective in cases in which women have not ovulated while taking Clomid (these women are said to be "Clomid-resistant" or "clomiphene-resistant").
135691 tn?1271097123 At The Mayo Clinic I asked about switching to another aromatase inhibitor should the Femara stop working and they said that Femara is one of the stronger aromatase inhibitors so if it stopped working they would try another theraputic approach because they didn't think switching to another aromatase inhibitor would help much.
1626928 tn?1378850167 I recently switched doctors and am getting ready to start my first cycle of femara. I am taking 2.5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
992128 tn?1364371742 Hey all just wondering if anyone tried femara (think that's what it's called) it's like clomid helps to ovulate!? What were side effects? What were results?
Avatar f tn Well AF is about to show anyday now (unless by some miracle I get a BFP). So I have 2 choices for my next cycle. Just wondering what you guys think I should do. A. Go with Clomid and no RE. Clomid helps produce more and better quality eggs, although one side effect is that it has the potential to create hostile CM. But I would be taking EPO, and using Pre-Seed in a hopes to counteract. I got this Rx from my general practitioner, so really no one would be monitoring me.
Avatar f tn So then they prescribed four days worth of some other type of drug which is also primarily used for breast cancer treatment and pretty much works the same way as the femara called tamoxifcan or something similar. I can't remember I don't have the bottle in front of me. It's similar anyway. I just finished taking my second dose of it so I have Friday night and Saturday night to go.
406631 tn?1201892087 If they are not regular, and you are not ovulating, then femara is a good choice. However if your periods are regular even without femara, then your chances of getting pregnant might be improved if intrauterine insemination is added to your treatment. Regarding urine ovulation prediction, if the femara is going to work to get you to ovulate, your ovulation is most likely to happen 7-10 days after your last femara.
Avatar n tn I was on tamoxifen for 5 years and have been on femara for 3. The back pain and joint pain has gotten horrible. I can no longer stand up straight or walk very far. I am 64 and afraid I will no longer be able to walk soon. I stopped femara 4 days ago. I wonder if any else has had this problem with the very severe joint pain, and if it will go away any time soon. The pain and quality of my life is so bad that I am taking the chance.
Avatar f tn I had stage 3+ breast cancer 6 years ago and had a lumpectomy (twice) and after chemo and radiation was put on Femara since my cancer was hormone sensitive. I've been on it the required 5 years and now the pharmaceutical company says another 5 years. My insurance won't pay for it after January, so does anyone have any ideas or experienced something similar? Femara is many hundreds of $ a month, so paying for it without help is not an option. Anyone had a similar experience?
374593 tn?1257879950 t find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time. Do you ever use Femara for fertility purposis in Endometriosis patients - even though its blacklabel for this, it seems that it would make good sense? Thanks!
Avatar n tn The RE will probably want to run some tests to figure out the cause of your infertility. Then you can discuss the treatment options you have. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was on Femara for 3 months for endometriosis. 2 weeks into treatment I also started having intense constant chest pains amongst other terrible side effects. I've been off the Femara for about 1 1/2 years and still have chest pains and other lingering side effects that my doctors can't explain.
Avatar f tn When I take chemo, my CA125 gets higher. So, I hope the Femara works for you. If your cancer is like mine, you are lucky, and Femara will help. I live a normal life until the med wears off, about every two years. I have had no side effects that I am aware of.
