femara success

hello! we just had success with femara (and injectables) and we have endo, pcos and male factor! we did do IUI... however we may be losing this pregnancy (in the waiting game right now) as far as side effects, i didn't have many at all, and it actually can increase cervical mucus unlike clomid. and it does have a short half life so birth defects shouldn't be a worry!. a lot of people have success stories on this! good luck!

hey i havent been on for a few months either, was also taking a break. I did 3 rounds of clomid and natural no luck. then we did 2 rounds of femara (letrezole) with and iui, unfortunately no luck....so we took 3 months off, now repeat semen analysis and if the counts are up, injectables to up the odds, if they havent changed we are thinking ivf....

I had success my 2nd month on femara. Sadly that pregnancy ended at 11 1/2 weeks. Don't really know why. Before that I had done clomid/iui's, ivf with chemical pregnancy, and failed fet. With the femara we were also trying "naturally", so i do think it can work well. I am now on my third round of it again after my mc. Hoping for a bfp on Christmas, if not then i am moving on to injectables. Good luck with the femara!!

Hey ladies! I just finished my Femara on Sunday. Was wondering about any success stories or how it has worked for them. This is my first month with it from Clomid and a miscarraige. Any info or input?

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

I have a success story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was on clomid for 4 months. The first 3 months were given by my OB. 50mg, 100mg and 150mg. She then referred me to a RE. He tried me on one more round of clomid 150mg to no avail. I had an HSG done and all tubes were clear. I was then put on letrozole (femara) days 3-7. Went in on day 14 for an u/s and had a follicle measuring 17.5mm. Did OPK for a few days and got my +. Went in the following day and had IUI. I am now 12.5 weeks pg with TWINS!

I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....

We will be moving on to 5mg of Femara Cd 4 - 8 and then menopur CD 9 - 11. Then trigger and IUI. Has anyone had success with this? I usually take Femara on CD 3 - 7 so I don't know why she wants me to take them on CD 4 - 8 this month. I am wondering if I should switch back to Clomid for a month since I was on Femara last month.

on birth defects, but I have found that it leaves your system really quickly, so this is only a cause for concern if you take it while you are pregnant (Clomid has the same warning). I have seen a lot of women with success on Femara, so it could do the same for you! Best of luck to you.

I agree with Jenny that you should go with an RE. But as for the femara, yes I have had success with it. I got pregnant on my second cycle on it. I also did a trigger shot and IUI. I am 15 weeks pregnant. Prior to that I had tried clomid for a long time (longer than I should have been on it) with no success. So it does work! I hope it works for you!

Hi! I'll be taking femara 2.5 CD3-7 next week for superovulation. Has anyone had success with femara? I'm not counting on it to work after just 1 cycle, but I'm really hoping it will! Does anyone who has taken femara have any advice? Did you ovulate later than usual???? Any info you can give is appreciated!!!!!

Okay ladies im about to drive myself crazy. I can not figure out what's going on. Here's my story... Pcos, trying to achieve ovulation with femara, then trigger, then iui. First he started me on provera. I didnt have much of a period. More like some brown spotting for a few days. He claimed that was my period so started me on femara cd 5-9. Cd12 went for a an ultrasound, he said I didnt respond to the femara and wanted to up dosage to 7.5. My lining was measuring 6mm.

Yes, better luck next time. I took clomid for 3 months without success. Next month, I went to follistim injections with success. Just depends on your dr. as to what they want to do. Good luck!

it makes me feel like no one has had any success, with letrozole(femara) and thats the fertility med im taking, i put that comment up 1 month ago, and not one person has resoponded. So does it not work.

I don't think that would have been too soon. The sperm should be able to survive for a few days. I also took Femara for the first time this cycle on days 3-7. I didn't know what to expect either since I O'd late with Clomid, so I used OPK's and temps and appeared to have ovulated cd12. I am now 12 dpo and holding out hope, even though I've felt like AF is coming soon.

I just finished my 5th cycle of clomid (waiting for af to show..got negative beta on Wed.). My lining was so thin last cycle (4.2 on day of trigger) that my RE took me off the clomid. I asked about doing femara for this next cycle but she doesn't use it in her practice anymore because she had low success rates with it.

Have any of you had success with Femara (Letrozole)? I am into my first session. I took 2.5 mg from days 3-7 of my cycle and todday is cycle day 24 for me. How long will it take before I know anything? I don't feel any different other than bloating for the past few days and yesterday I was a little irritable. That could just be a sign that AF might be starting to gear up. What do you guys think?

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am on my 2nd IUI & also taking Femara. You are the first person I know to also take Femara. Clomid was not successful for me, it created bad cervical mucus. Anyway, I am on Femara for Cd 2-6 & then injectables (Bravelle) CD 7-10. Last month, I had 2 wonderful big follicles. I think they have found my "right recipe" so it's just a matter of everything else aligning. Let me know how your month goes.

I used this as well after no success with 8 months of Clomid. Femara with timed intercourse and an IUI worked on my 3rd treatment. I'm due in June! BFP coming ur way!

Higher levels of 21 progesterone can indicate a better chance of pregnancy success. If your progesterone levels are not within the expected range with Femara, even when ovulation occurs, your doctor may want to supplement you with progesterone after ovulation. Progesterone not only helps with ovulation, but also helps to build the uterine lining. If the lining is too thin, it can cause the egg not to implant in the lining or can lead to early miscarraige. That is what my dr told me to about the Femara is that there is a better success rate. There are only 3 women in this area that my DR knows of that he put on it and I am the 3rd woman. Right at that moment the other two had not gottin pregnant but they had only just started to take it. Thank you for your kind words. I am kind of scared because of the mood swings I have had. My husband has been trying to do the best he can for me.

This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

This is my 3rd cycle. Any one with success stories on femara 7.5 from day 2 to 6and menopur 75 from day 3to7. Had scan today and menopur was increased to 150.
