Femara studies

Common Questions and Answers about Femara studies

femara

546831 tn?1262742429 we got preg twice - using femara + injectables... 5mg of femara.. its shows better success rate and lower mc rate than clomid according to most studies! : ) GOOD LUCK!!!!
Avatar n tn I am staying on this for 3 months. From what I understand there are alot of studies out there suggesting Femara reduces the swelling, etc. After the 3 months once I get my AF back, I will continue on Femara/iui for 3-4 months before moving on to IVF. The combination of drugs puts your body into a "menopausal" state. I'm praying for this to work because my endo has fused my bowel to my uterus and my left tube/ovary are completely ruined by the endo.
Avatar f tn Also, you may wish to consider trying Metformin together with the Femara. Studies indicate a slightly higher pregnancy rate with the combination of the two. Good luck!
Avatar n tn PS.... he went into this LONG speel about the studies and whatnot of Tamoxifen, Femara, and Reloxifen, etc. Apparently he's VERY passionate about this stuff.
374593 tn?1257879950 ) and that she is recommending me do lupron or femara for supression for 3-6 months.. we have been ttc for a year so before surg we thought we wouldn't do any of those meds since it woudl simply delay concieving longer.. I have pretty much decided against lupron, but may be open to doing femara for three months constantly.. anyone done this? i know it can be used for ovulation - like clomid.. but looks like new studies are showing if you use it consistently it is helping...
557306 tn?1239989954 i have severe endo as well, and your right there are very few studies that i can find about the femara treatment.. though what i did find shows great hope! I am in a similar situation as you.. we were ttc for 8 months and i had premenstrual spotting and we did an ultrasound and found an endometrioma 7.5cm on my left side.. it had demolished most of my left ovary.. so my obgyn at the time did surgery and removed the endometrioma, but didnt' touch any of the other endo either..
Avatar n tn I am taking femara after surgery for early breast cancer. I am supposed to take calcium supplements but dont like them and now there is a suggestion of increased risk of heart attack. I have a good diet, take exercise and my bone density is normal. I am 74.
1697057 tn?1351540435 m 38) and nothing-why do I not get pregnant and why is he putting me on Femara? Are there contraindications using Femara even if you do regularly ovulate? How useful is it?Thank you so much....
Avatar m tn As I have posted before, my wife aged 74 has breast cancer and has been on Femara for about three months prior to surgery. She's responding well and the cancer has shrunk, and she hasn't really had any side affects but in the last 2 weeks has developed an itchy red rash in the area between her legs and upper thighs.
374593 tn?1257879950 Once Endo patients have a Lap and the lesions get "cleaned up" . What are your opinions on Lupron for 3-6 months post-op, in order to achieve pregnancy in a patient with mod-severe endometriosis? From what i've ready I can't find any studies that say it increases conception rates, rather it may just make you asymptomatic during the treatment time.
Avatar f tn I was on Femara and Necon for 3 months to treat endometriosis. 2 weeks into treatment I started getting side effects like scary muscle pains throughout my body especially in my chest and legs, unable to concentrate and focus, memory loss, joint pain ,anxiety, rage, depression... the list goes on and on. Every time I would call the prescribing dr with a side effect he would tell me it is not from the medication.
1650143 tn?1343745554 Pcos is very common, and usually responds quite nicely to fertility medications. From the studies I have seen recently, it appears that a combination of Metformin and Clomid or Femara produces the best results. Adding the IUI increases you chances as well. Good luck!

Avatar f tn I just finished my 5th cycle of clomid (waiting for af to show..got negative beta on Wed.). My lining was so thin last cycle (4.2 on day of trigger) that my RE took me off the clomid. I asked about doing femara for this next cycle but she doesn't use it in her practice anymore because she had low success rates with it.
398038 tn?1247857003 To all of my friends using Femara, and those that are thinking about it, I found some really good info online that is very detailed. It's actually a fact sheet from a fertility clinic in Ontario. I don't know anything about the clinic, but it's by far the best info I've seen on using Femara for infertility. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.soft-infertility.com/docs/PILetrosol.pdf Also, any updates from those of you using Femara?
1030058 tn?1252253572 I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times. What are my risks if I choose to just stop the Arimidex and not continue with a change to Femara...
Avatar f tn My last cycle I had 1 egg instead of 2 or 3. I took this cycle off (soooo nice!) and am going to start Femara next cycle. Clomid just has too many harsh SE that I don't want to deal with! I think you should see an RE and maybe ask to try a different med other than Clomid.... If you have any questions, feel free to PM me anytime!! Hope all goes well, and good luck! Keep us posted !!!
Avatar n tn but many studies have shown that there is sufficient evidence to support that Arimidex reduce significantly the risk of recurrence as well as cancer in the opposite breast especially if your wife had an aggressive type of breast cancer.Unfortunately, this medication which is a "necessary evil", does cause a lot of side effects including hot flashes, but the benefits must always be weighed against the possible risks.
Avatar f tn Some doctors would recommend increasing your Clomid dose, I personally might consider switching you to Femara. If you were my patient, I would definitely supplement progesterone if you do conceive this cycle. Oh, and, yes progesterone definitely can and will vary from month to month. If there is any question about whether you are ovulating, I would suggest ultrasound for follicle studies to a patient of my own. Good luck!
788859 tn?1236734548 I have read recently that studies show taking Femara pre-pregnancy will not cause birth defects. It is taking the drug while preganant that can cause the defects. What is the latest info on this topic? Also, I ovulate on my own my Dr. has prescribed Femara for superovulation just to speed up the process and make it a little more "perfect". Any insight to this protocol?
374593 tn?1257879950 ve since done two cycles of femara, and then this one femara + injectables... before IVF should we do lupron for 3 months for endo suppression? ( i hear its ify if it helps the chances with iVF or not.. my RE doesn't feel strongly that it helps) or should I go to an endo specialist and have exicion surgery before trying IVF.... or should we just do the regular IVF - 2 weeks of lupron before?
1722607 tn?1335747858 I have been given 5 studies to choose from. They are all different and Im feeling a little overwhelmed. How should I choose? What questions should I ask?
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
144100 tn?1283522567 First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
