Your OBGYN is right. Mine also had me use Femara for 4 cycles to try to increase our chances since I am in the dreaded "unexplained" category. It worked great for me, I O'd consistently, and had minimal side effects (just headaches and hot flashes here and there). We didn't end up with our BFP, but I have seen a lot of women who have with the Femara. Here are two information packets on it.

I am taking Femara and I am on 5 mg cd3-7 I would love to hear any sucess stories and how long before you got that BFP. If you were taking anything else with it. I am also taking metforin 500mg a day. I also have PCOS. Share your good news here.

I may be starting Femara (letrizole) next cycle and want to get some feedback. This may be followed by timed intercourse and/or IUI. My RE says Femara has less side effects and will be out of my blood before I conceive. I truly appreciate any comments.

Im also on femara cycle.I don't ovulate on my own .clomid didn't work on me. I have been using femara for 6 cycles. Its working very well. Im ovulating every month and im getting periods on my own.I had iui this month,waiting for results. I wish u good luck.

Ive taken Femara. Many many success stories. I have now currently preg after only cycle. :) people try for a very long time , even with clomid they don't have any luck. But femara is a miracle drug . lol Even tho this does not answer your question. Sorry .

We got pregnant 3 times with IUI and femara - and the 6th one stuck (baby due any day now). It can work and is less invasive than IVF.

Not to sound discouraging but clomid never worked for me. I took the highest dosage allowed by the FDA and still did not ovulate. Now, for a positive note, I am taking Femara. A lot of people don't like this idea; however, it has been proven that the femara is out of your system long before you conceive and there is no risk of birth defects. Keep Femara in mind if Clomid doesn't work for you.

Has anyone had any succes!?!?!? whould love to har your stories... He saiys if this doesn't work we need to try injections...

This is my 3rd cycle. Any one with success stories on femara 7.5 from day 2 to 6and menopur 75 from day 3to7. Had scan today and menopur was increased to 150.

5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.

Has anyone here tried Femara? I have 5 tablets that a friend of mine had leftover (unexpired & still in the pack), and I'm thinking about trying it on cd3-7 next cycle. I'm 5 dpo right now, but I don't think there's much of a chance since we could only BD 3 days prior to ovulation. Although I have read conflicting stories on the Internet that that is "prime" time to BD. :-) Thanks all!

I have mild PCOS and responded to Clomid with 1 follicle for two cycles (one bd, another iui). I skipped a month w/meds and O'd on my own. I just started Femara cd3-7 and Follistim 75 cd5-9, and haven't been able to find out any real live stories of BFP with this protocol, how many tries it took and number and size of follies normally seen. I was also wondering how many follicles is to few, and how many are too many where the RE could cancel a cycle in fear of OHSS?

I have read a TON of stories of people that get BFP's with only one ovary.. has your dr been monitoring you? your one ovary should take over ovulation each month.. You could also switch to a different oral med like femara which wont' thin your uterine lining or strip your cervical mucus like clomid can do! GOOD LUCK! I hope your BFP is around the corner!

I'm starting Follistim Pen my next cycle, and am really excited about it!! I'm just looking for some success stories! I'm confident this will be our ticket to getting our BFP! We did clomid for 5 cycles, all bfn. I took this cycle off, and am anxious to get to my next so I can start these injections! So any success stories or advice with Follistim is greatly appreciated! I've taken Femara for about five months. I took Femara on CD3-CD7 with a HCG trigger shot on CD12 for three months in a row. Last month I did Femara CD3-CD7, a HCG trigger shot on CD12 and IUI on CD14. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. I go in for my 2nd IUI this weekend. Femara has helped thicken my lining, but I noticed that I am a little more emotional than usual. It probably doesn't help that I'm all stressed out about what's going on.

m on my way to have a trigger shot for an IUI tomorrow after getting a helluva period out of nowhere with no medical intervention and then taking 7.5 mg femara days 5-9. I had an ultra sound on day 15 (yesterday) and I wasn't expecting much. Nothing ever seems to work and I usually get bad news with ultra sounds. I had literally stopped trying to be optimistic. It looks like we're pretty much on the same schedule! I also took the same drug on days 3-7 and have my follicle scan on Friday. I previously took Clomid for a few months and had the injection once then, but not since I've been on the Letrazole (Femara). I've seen a lot of success stories on here with this combination, so that's why I requested the ultrasound/injection this month. I don't know how much needles bother you, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

or you could ask them to let you try Femara. it works for some where clomid doesn't. What dose of clomid are you on? They should also do an ultrasound to see what's happening follicle wise.

Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.

There are so many conflicting stories out there and my question is that how long after iui did anyone have systoms of pregnancy and where actually pregnant. I am only due for a blood test on the 25th as the doc wants me to come in as soon as I find out I am pregnant to get check all my bloods and hormone levels. A bit of history… We have been trying for 19 months now after our first miscarriage at 8 weeks. The second happened again at 5.5 weeks.

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am on my 2nd IUI & also taking Femara. You are the first person I know to also take Femara. Clomid was not successful for me, it created bad cervical mucus. Anyway, I am on Femara for Cd 2-6 & then injectables (Bravelle) CD 7-10. Last month, I had 2 wonderful big follicles. I think they have found my "right recipe" so it's just a matter of everything else aligning. Let me know how your month goes.

This time I was on femara cd 3-7 and was adding in the ovidrel shot but the past 4 u/s showed all follicles were on the small side.. they didnt give me an exact # as they grouped them all < 12mm. Today is CD 23 and i went in for b/w and u/s.. the tech told me today i have one follicle on the left ovary that is now 9mm. Is this normal size at this cd??

My DH has 1% morph .. and IUI with Femara worked for us. I don't think morphology is a big problem as long as the count is not too low. (at least what RE told me) Good luck.
