Common Questions and Answers about Femara pcos

femara

Avatar f tn I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.
Avatar f tn yes i do have pcos, I have already taken 5 rounds of clomid with metformin and have yet to ovulate. I had ovarian drilling two weeks ago and i am suppose to start femara soon.
1160836 tn?1332330169 I have been taking Femara the last 3 month, I also take metformin and esterdiol since my lining does not get thick enough on it's own. I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have PCOS and have been ttc for a year now.. clomid didnt make me ovulate.. I have regular cycles. The doctor put me on metformin and femara (spell check) which I did ovulate on so thry say from my progesterone levels..but still not pregnant. Does any one knows what I could do to help me become pregro?
586512 tn?1218512079 Hey I just want some suggetions on clomd or Femera which is best for me? I have pcos currently on Metformin been on it for four months and a good HSG no bocks. Help WHAT TO DO???
320424 tn?1205500555 t thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
Avatar f tn so us ladies with pcos when we are given clomid our cysts might get bigger instead of singling out a follicle to mature. so for women with pcos femara is a better choice. I have already taken five rounds of clomid with metformin and i did not ovulate. did you take the femara yet?
Avatar f tn t entirely understand, Metformin reduces the insulin insensitivity that is a part of the PCOS. The Femara would help you to ovulate regularly and speed up the time to conception. I prefer Femara over Clomid because it has fewer side effects and (in my experience) works better. I would also recommend that you continue with your healthy lifestyle! I hope that this is helpful to you!
1626928 tn?1378850167 Hey guys, I am a 27 year old female and have been diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis. I have taken 4 months of clomid up to 150mg and did not produce one egg. I recently switched doctors and am getting ready to start my first cycle of femara. I am taking 2.5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
Avatar f tn I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly. So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.
Avatar f tn ve Only Tried One cycle Of Clomid And Did Ovulate With It Before My Dr Switched Me To Femara. Provera Induced Period, Cd 2, Start Femara 2.5Mg Tomorrow. Anyone Ever Have Success With Femara With No Pcos Or Iui?
1650143 tn?1343745554 I was told yesterday I have pcos.. they are going to start with iui's first then if not successful next would be ivf.. anybody get pregnant having pcos doing iui's??
992128 tn?1364371742 Hey all just wondering if anyone tried femara (think that's what it's called) it's like clomid helps to ovulate!? What were side effects? What were results?
328927 tn?1227761840 m pretty bummed out already I thought femara was supposed to make pcos have less follilces than clomid but better quality.Anyway sorry I couldn't help much just wanted to share my experince in case you wanted to know youre not alone no matter how alone we might feel at times. Good luck and baby dust to everyone.
415687 tn?1228746275 I got pregnant on my second cycle of femara + trigger + IUI. Femara is similar to clomid and much much cheaper than injectibles. Just another option you might want to look into. Good luck!!
847330 tn?1238713603 If you did IVF you wouldn't need Clomid. They'd stimulate your ovaries to produce large follicles (eggs). They'd then retrieve those eggs. They'd also collect your husband's sperm or donor sperm and fertilize the eggs in a petri dish. They'd then be transferred to your womb. IUI is different than IVF. They have your husband give a sample of semen, or they could use donor sperm, and would inseminate you. I'm sure there is more to it that someone else could explain.
873190 tn?1304812975 No, I do not have PCOS. The idea behind Clomid or Femara for me is to ovulate more than one egg, giving me more chances that one of them will be "good" and it will get fertilized.
Avatar f tn Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?
478429 tn?1265244387 Hey ladies, I'm doing Femara this month for the first time - not much luck with Clomid (8 months= 1 BFP early m/c). So I took one month off and decided to give Femara a try before injectables (if needed). So, who here got p/g taking Femara? Trigger ? IUI? etc.... and how many cycles did you do? I'm excited to try something new that could really work, so I'm wanting a bit of good hope!!!
Avatar f tn I agree with cheescake, clomid has been known to cause cysts in women more than femara... it also thins the lining of the uterus and femara doesn't , however it can produce more follies than femara.. i would defintely ask your doctor! i got one cyst on femara.. well two others, but the resolved on their own, and the reason i got those was due to endo and pcos not letting my follies rupture, so then they just grew bigger into cysts!
Avatar f tn I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?
506810 tn?1210691647 Hey everyone. I'm Danielle i'm new here:) I was diagnosed with PCOS last January and started metformin and provera (to start my period). I just took clomid a couple weeks ago on days 3-7. My doctor said i had like 20 follicles but none were mature. Does anyone know a reason why they didn't mature? So now she took me off of metformin and I just started avandia. And wheneveer I start my next period she's gonna put me on Femara and an hcg shot.
Avatar f tn I may be starting Femara (letrizole) next cycle and want to get some feedback. This may be followed by timed intercourse and/or IUI. My RE says Femara has less side effects and will be out of my blood before I conceive. I truly appreciate any comments.
Avatar n tn t release (which is common in pcos) as heather said,, starting with clomid or femara is typically the first line.. i would make sure you go to an RE or an OBGYN that monitors you.. some pcos patients (and non pcos patients) will be on months of ovulation stimulation drugs like clomid trying month after month, but aren't monitored so dont' know if they are even producing nice follicles.. so an ultrasound around O time is worth so much!
Avatar f tn Hi I have pcos and tried clomid with provera a few cycles with no luck at all didnt ovulate.....
Avatar f tn The reason could be something else. I dont have any experience with femara though. Your tubes are ok? i guess you dont have any pcos either. in next few months you might be able to conceive. dont stress out. women out here are having 0.1, 0.3, 0.4 AMH and still able to conceive and are trying to conceive. so dont loose hope. it will happen soon.
Avatar f tn Im also on femara cycle.I don't ovulate on my own .clomid didn't work on me. I have been using femara for 6 cycles. Its working very well. Im ovulating every month and im getting periods on my own.I had iui this month, waiting for results. I wish u good luck.
Avatar n tn That sounds like it should be good for you if you are ovulating on your own and aren't having any other problems. I was on femara and avandia (for PCOS), and I had to have a trigger shot (because I don't ovulate on my own). But I got pregnant on my second month of femara (with IUI). And that was after 6 years of trying and being on clomid for a really long time. So I really believe in femara!
