Common Questions and Answers about Femara novartis

femara

Avatar f tn I saw a paper from canada9 funded by novartis suggesting the femara have shown better survival figures than tamoxifen. Is femara better than arimedex? have you seen this paper.
Avatar n tn Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I will give Arimidex a chance since the reps at Novartis who manufacture Femara indicated a switch often worked for other women. I didn't need Lupron so I can't comment on that. I lost 50 lbs in the last year by switching to the Cancer diet, alot of frest fruit & vegetables, no processed food, no alcohol or snacking before bed (I used to have 1-2 glasses of wine with a snack 5 out of 7 nights.
Avatar f tn Dear Cinders11: Enclosed in quotations is the section of the femara package insert produced by Novartis. "2.5 Use in Hepatic Impairment No dosage adjustment is recommended for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, although Femara blood concentrations were modestly increased in subjects with moderate hepatic impairment due to cirrhosis. The dose of Femara in patients with cirrhosis and severe hepatic dysfunction should be reduced by 50% [see Warnings and Precautions (5.3)].
749784 tn?1233499310 Sun Pharma is selling it for only $114.40, which is cheaper than the brand novartis is selling(femara). There are other drugs they are selling like pamidronate which is also cheaper than regular pamidronates in the market. If someone could help me, I realy would like to save but would this also be potent? Please help ..? Is http://www.freedom-pharmacy.com/Products.asp a valid online drugstore where I can buy my moms medicine?
Avatar n tn December 14, 2009 (San Antonio, Texas) — New results coming from 2 mature trials with exemestane (Aromasin, Pfizer) suggest that this aromatase inhibitor differs slightly from the other 2 available products, letrozole (Femara, Novartis) and anastrozole (Arimidex, AstraZeneca). Although all 3 are aromatase inhibitors, exemestane is a steroidal product that binds irreversibly to the estrogen receptor; the other 2 products are both nonsteroidal and are reversible inhibitors.
Avatar f tn I use genteal and the bottle seemed stopped up. I took the bottle tip off and found " muck" stuff growing in the bottle like in a bottle of water that's been setting out for several months. The tip had a long string like thing in it. I pulled it out and will go back to the pharmacy to tell them. It needs to be reported as contaminated. But can't seem to find email or a phone for Novartis pharmaceuticals. Any ideas. Check out your eye drops.

Avatar m tn I'm sorry to hear about your epilepsy. I've got it, too. I think Novartis makes Tegretol. I went to their website (http://www.novartis.com/) but couldn't find a patient monograph. According to http://www.merck.com/mmpe/lexicomp/carbamazepine.html, one of the "Adverse Reactions" is "Hepatic: Abnormal liver function tests, hepatic failure, hepatitis, jaundice".

Avatar f tn Thank you Steph for taking the trouble to look it up for me, I did try googling it but wasn't really getting anywhere.
649848 tn?1534633700 Novartis AG on Tuesday won U.S. approval for its keenly awaited new heart failure drug Entresto earlier than expected, boosting hopes for a medicine tipped by analysts to reap billions of dollars in annual sales. The Swiss drugmaker had previously said U.S. approval was likely in August. The U.S.
Avatar f tn I had a h1n1 vaccination novartis -preservative free back in Nov 15th to be exact. I received hot sensations in arms shoulders neck from a preservative free vaccination. I have tingles, numness on extremities throught the night since 5 days after innoculation. During the day I have had it change from the hot sensations-alomost gone. To numbness in pinky finger, left foot for 2 weeks to right foot most recently for 2 weeks. Hope there will be an end soon to this madness.
Avatar f tn Hello Rott, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. I am so very sorry to hear that this manufacturing error has affected you. It's always frightening when we have to change from a medication that we have become comfortable with and that works!! I have been searching for the exact facts on the recall. It appears that the primary concern is that the non-narcotic medications (listed below) may contain the narcotic.
572651 tn?1530999357 I was researching something on the web and stumbled upon this one - it seem that Novartis has its work cut out to get Gilenya approved by the NHS. http://www.marketwatch.
1204794 tn?1300704113 //www.femara.com/thank-you6-femara-cares.jsp My doctor signed it and I got 3 months of fertility treatment for free! Unfortunately I'm on my last month, keep your fingers crossed.
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
144100 tn?1283522567 First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.
Avatar n tn I didnt get any response from any healthcare providers on my Tamoxifen/Femara question regarding weight gain and loss. Can anyone answer that question for me.
1160836 tn?1332330169 I have been taking Femara the last 3 month, I also take metformin and esterdiol since my lining does not get thick enough on it's own. I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!
Avatar f tn d like to discuss trying femara for this 6th cycle instead of clomid since it thinned my lining so much for this cycle. But..I want to know..can I expect the same type of results from femara as I have with clomid? On 100 mgs of clomid, I have had a mature follicle ready for trigger on Days 10 and 11. Thoughts? Thanks!
320424 tn?1205500555 and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
