femara not working

I'm sorry it hasn't worked, girls. I know a couple who had similar struggles. The woman has PCOS and cysts on ovaries. They have tried for 3 years. They did Clomid several rounds which didn't work. Then underwent the intra-uterine transfer - didn't work, unfortunately. And they just had their 1st round IVF two months ago. Weeks ago they found out they were expecting.

I took one cycle of Femara with hcg trigger last month I have spotted and have not had no cycle and pt are negative, can anyone help?

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

Im also on femara cycle.I don't ovulate on my own .clomid didn't work on me. I have been using femara for 6 cycles. Its working very well. Im ovulating every month and im getting periods on my own.I had iui this month,waiting for results. I wish u good luck.

I did find that the side effects of Femara were far less severe than the Clomid and, unlike Clomid, Femara does not affect your CM or thin out your uterine lining.

120 This is a decrease of 50 points in four weeks. It looks like the Femara is working great! I continue to have sever pain constantly, mainly in my right rib area. I have been on Femara nine weeks now. Are there any estimates how long this pain may continue?

Hi babydust, I got pregnant on my first cycle of Femara a little over a month ago, which was my first cycle after a m/c in November. I've heard that women can be more fertile after a m/c, so whether it was due to the m/c or the Femara I really don't know. But I've read a lot of promising stuff about Femara, so good luck to you!

She went to see her local Dr, not her cancer Dr and she said it could be a sign her liver is not working or the cancer has spread to her bones but when I looked at the Femara side effects on line it says fluid retention can occur whilst on these. Can anyone advise? Her local Dr has taken some blood to test for calcium levels.

I am just wondering if anyone has taken Femara to try and get pregnant. I just finished taking Clomid for three months and no pregancy. I had a lap and am going to start taking Femara to try and concieve. Hopefully this works. I am just wondering if anyone else has taken Femara and what it was like ie side effects/pregnancy?! 5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly.So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg. I had a progesterone test on cd 20 and it was 8.7ng/ml is this in the normal range? Three days 5/9/09 later AF arrived unexpectedly she wasn't suppose to show until 5/16/09.

So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....

I think Femara. My dr. has accidentally called it in for me twice now, although I take Clomid. I think he uses both so often for ovulation they are interchangeable. I read lots of women here take it also.

I will be starting Femara on my next cycle. I tried Clomid for 2 cycles, but I believe that it is thining my lining and drying up CM. I've read that this does not happen with Femara. Any other differances/similarities? I know that Clomid makes you O late, but have been reading that Femara makes you O early. Is this true? Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. btw I already O on my own, I'm taking it to produce more eggs.

Hey ladies, I'm doing Femara this month for the first time - not much luck with Clomid (8 months= 1 BFP early m/c). So I took one month off and decided to give Femara a try before injectables (if needed). So, who here got p/g taking Femara? Trigger ? IUI? etc.... and how many cycles did you do? I'm excited to try something new that could really work, so I'm wanting a bit of good hope!!!

Dear Melissa 229 - are your periods regular when you are not on femara? If they are not regular, and you are not ovulating, then femara is a good choice. However if your periods are regular even without femara, then your chances of getting pregnant might be improved if intrauterine insemination is added to your treatment. Regarding urine ovulation prediction, if the femara is going to work to get you to ovulate, your ovulation is most likely to happen 7-10 days after your last femara.

t give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes. He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy. Wish me luck! Any others had success with this vs clomid?

t have chemo and just went on femara. She must have been very early stage and chemo was not recommended. I've heard of that before. I counted back to November and she would be finishing up her chemo in Feb. To answer your question, the surgery and the femara probably brought the number down. Since she's on several different natural remedies there is no way of knowing what is working and what is the safest way to treat her. I'd stay with the femara.

If so then maybe Femara is the best next option for you. Good luck! And it does not hurt to do your own research! Google and google!

After months of failed attempts trying the old fashioned way, and clomid, we finally got our BFP with the second cycle of femara. By the way the side effects of femara are way more tolerable than the awful side effects I would have on Clomid. Good Luck SSBD to you!

On another subject (sort of) the Femara has had a fairly dramatic affect on reducing the cancer and lymph nodes under her arm, and when we visited the surgeon a couple of weeks ago he sugested she wait another couple of months before booking surgery for a mastectomy and lymph nodes remove;. She asked if the Femara kept working and shrunk the tumor to the extent that it it 'disappeared' is surgery essential.? He said surgery is the standard treatment, but the decision was hers.

Anyone who has had experience with femara: Have you ever notice very small follicles? I am getting an average of 3-4 follicles each month, but they are not getting to the right size for my RE to recommend AI. I am wondering what to suggest to my RE in order to get the right size follicles?!? Thanks for any help!

Allie - I had no intention of the Femara working at all this month - especially this early! I took Femara a few months ago and I never ovulated! I hope this is your month too! Good luck on Monday! As for me...DH is about to do his thing (poor guy!) and we are going to head out and drop it off then go get some breakfast and then IUI at 9:30! Wish me luck.

She had her first recurrance a year later and her onc put her on femara (sp?). Well, that got her through until the next year and her CA125 started to increase again. They went back to the carbo/taxol treatment with not as favorable results as the first time, but still helped some. The onc allowed for a 3 month break before starting Doxil. the Doxil really never did anything for her numbers, maybe brought them down 20 points to 198. So she's taking another "break".

m looking for feedback from anybody that was having ultrasound and bloodwork monitoring while only taking femara for fertility. The ultrasound monitoring is new for me as my previous fertility doctor only did bloodwork monitoring. So I'm looking for feedback on number of follicles and size on.

so i did just femara 2.5mg first month with IUI (but i have many issues.. one working ovary - the other was destroyed from severe endo, pcos, LUFS - where my follicles dont' even rupture!GRR) and we have our male factor (2%morphology). so we had a slim chance, but the RE said it was possible! well no follies ruptured the first cycle, and only one of two the second, so they moved me up to injectables (follistim) and i had three follies and 2 ruptured.. IUI and we got preg!!!

ve been one...femara and menopur. I did three cycles with femara days 3-7, and one shot of menopur on days 3, 5 and 7 (75IU), but one of them got cancelled. Then this past cycle, I did femara/menopur again, but this time did a menopur shot every day from from day 3 to day 10. Unfortunately, it didn't work, though. My RE is completely confused why it's not happening. So I'm now moving on to IVF.

t notice many symptoms of the Femara...we knew it was working because I had ultrasounds on day 10 (first cycle) and day 11. I did an IUI in February (didn't work) and March (like I said, BFP!!!). I did try Clomid a year ago...don't know how well it worked for me because my OBGYN at the time didn't do any monitoring...but I did get some nasty cysts a couple months after stopping it. Best of luck.! I am now on day 9, and I took the femara on day 3- 7. I hope I O! Testing twice a day now. I go back to my OB on the 21st for blood work. Not sure what they are testing for though. I did not have any side effects on the femara, so hopefully you don't have any. But the provera made me light headed! It is all worth it in the end though.

I have heard if clomid does not work 5/6 rounds then its not likely too particularly if your over 35. I have also heard IUI doesn't either after 3/4 but I am almost 37 and it worked for me so.... good luck it could just be it takes time that's all.
