Femara multiples

Common Questions and Answers about Femara multiples

femara

Avatar n tn Clomid and femara help with ovulation, but don't have that great a tendency to cause you to ovulate more than one egg at a time. So they are really useful when trying IUI. The IVF meds (and though I did IVF I can't recall all the names and which drug has what action) stimulate the ovaries to produce a lot of eggs during one cycle. This is fine if you are doing IVF because the eggs can be retrieved and then a select number placed back inside.
Avatar n tn I am on 1st round of Femara, too. Today is cd21 for me and opk is finally getting close to positive. This is a long wait to o for me. On Clomid, I o'd between cd9 & 12. Oh well, hopefully the wait is worth it. I may be delayed from the cyst I had from the Clomid. It finally dissolved. Good luck!
Avatar f tn t think the ultrasounds were necessary in my particular case. Femara is not known to increase risk of multiples as much as other drugs but you still want to be careful.
1190279 tn?1324936257 This is way cheaper then injections only and has a lower likelihood is producing high order multiples. This is what ended up working for me when clomid and Femara alone didn't. I am now 18 weeks pregnant with my second. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Someone else's question made me realize I had my own question. Has anyone here taken Clomid and acheived pregnancy quickly (within the first couple months of using it). I heard it can make your hormones CRAZY and make you a psycho "B" person, if you catch my drift. I already have high testosterone... I can't imagine taking something that would elevate those hormones more!!! My doc wants to use Clomid as the next step.

629388 tn?1255480562 Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am on my 2nd IUI & also taking Femara. You are the first person I know to also take Femara. Clomid was not successful for me, it created bad cervical mucus. Anyway, I am on Femara for Cd 2-6 & then injectables (Bravelle) CD 7-10. Last month, I had 2 wonderful big follicles. I think they have found my "right recipe" so it's just a matter of everything else aligning. Let me know how your month goes.
Avatar f tn So I am getting ready to start Femara on my next cycle...Clomid not working. Anyway I was wondering who is on or has been on it and when and how much did you have to take? I have done alot of research on it but I am just wondering why women are on such different doses and cd to take them? Is it just up to the individual DR.? Has anyone had success with Femara?? I need a little light at the end of this long tunnel....
Avatar f tn I'm trying to conceive and I was instructed to take Femara for five days starting on cd3 through cd 7. I also started gonal f (75iu) on cd7 and I took that uo until today which is cd 10. I went to the doctor and my follies wasn't ready yet so I was then instructed to take 150iu of gonal f up unitl Wednesday which is cd12. I am do back to the doctor on Thursday to see how many follies I have and the sizes. I'm nervous but overly excited al at the same time.
362249 tn?1441315018 I was just wondering with the IUI treatments is it possible to have multiples? I'm just curious cus on Jon and Kate plus 8 he said that Kate had an IUI when she got PG with the sextuplets!! Do you think that was right? I could see twins maybe but more? i dunno i thought surely with sextuplets that would be from IVF only!!
Avatar f tn -) Doctors often cancel IUI cycles if there are too many follicles, since the risk of multiples is too high. Sounds like things are looking good for you, though! Best of luck!
447077 tn?1222790570 when you take fertility medicines, you could have multiples. Those med help your ovary produce and release multiples follicles. There are couple ladies who are pregnant with twin and triplet. They have ttc and successful with multiples. it's a blessing.
Avatar f tn Well we did femara with trigger and femara with booster and trigger already and it wasn't going good (we did femara with trigger with our dd and it worked great though). Doc wanted up to move ahead to injectibles so that is where we are now. The only real difference between what we are doing now and IVF is that it would bypass my one tube issue.
1326103 tn?1282576084 It depends on what meds you used. for clomid or femara I think they should be around 20mm. For FSH drugs around 16-18mm. but remember they can grow 1-2mm a day so a 15mm at trigger could be 17mm by ovulation. I took a combo of tamoxifen and follistim for our first four rounds of IUI and each time my follicles were bigger than 20mm. but this time with follistim only I had one at 15mm and one at 13mm. I also have PCOS and am currently 6DPO. good luck!
Avatar f tn ) however unfortuantely we miscarried later on, but it did work! (we also have sevre endo and male factor and one ovary!) injections are painless, really easy to use..i do not use metformin since i'm underweight and i have regular periods every 30 days.. so instead i stick to a pretty low carb diet to keep my insulin levels as steady as possible throughtout the day...
924293 tn?1260307145 I got pregnant easily at 31, then at 38 it was a lot harder for me. We ttc naturally for 8 months and decided we better go to the doctor. I took Femara for 4 months and it didn't work. Went to see a fertility specialist who doubled my dose of Femara, wached my follicles via ultrasound and then took a trigger show, this worked the first time! My 2 sons are 7 and 7 months now. I would prefer to wait until my youngest is 1 before ttc, but my age is a huge factor to me now.
1178023 tn?1293733628 Have had two surgeries, countless blood tests, HCG, clomid, femara who knows what else for 6 cycles now...and one IUI. The IUI did not take and since I am certifiable, I had the nerve to ask the doctor if there was really sperm when I had it done or if this is just a huge money making ploy. He was floored, and after I realized what I had said I'm like "just kidding". Not Good. Today I had my first injection of Puregon, what should I expect?
778012 tn?1304901886 He recommended I try up to 3 cycles of IUI and this month will be the first, and I am nervous. I did 2.5 mg Femara on cycle days 3-7 and went in for a day 10 ultrasound today. The NP said my endometrium looks good. I had lots of follicles but only one was 14 mm and another (maybe two more) was 13.5 mm. Is this good? Today is Friday, I was told to take my Ovidrel trigger shot on Tuesday night at 8:30 pm and then will do the IUI on Thursday at 10:30 am.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would repeat the pregnancy test, and if negative, I would give you a 5 day course of progesterone to start your period. Then I would discuss something to help you ovulate such as Femara or Clomid. You very likely will conceive with or without medications, but Femara/Clomid will regulate your cycles a bit and shorten them a bit, therefore speeding up the process. With these two medications there is minimal risk of multiples. Hope this helps!
652864 tn?1251750596 Hi all, the RE called this morning, I have 11 mature follicles...3 @ 15 and 8 more slightly smaller. She cancelled my IUI's for the month due to fear of multiples and said I could do a half of a dose of HCG trigger and try naturally. Any one else been through this? Should we just try naturally? My husband does have a lower sperm count although good motility.
Avatar f tn It worked on our first try and now I have a precious perfectly healthy baby girl. Femara has fewer chances of multiples but it also does not thin the uterine lining like clomid can. it is worth it to investigate it. (It does cause birth defects if you take it if you are already pregnant so be sure they do an ultrasound to verify that you are not pregnant) p.s. I also took baby aspirin, extra folic acid and progesterone once I ovulated. best of luck!!!!
711920 tn?1238774859 HI! It sounds to me like you didn't ovulate normally in January. When you don't ovulate, instead of getting a period, your lining continues to build up, then when it does flush out ( your March period) it is usually extra heavy and long, like two for the price of one! It can be very normal to miss a period now and then, but if this becomes a monthly problem, it may slow you down on your plans for a baby.
415867 tn?1323365503 (nto that it would sway us anyways but curious) Increased chance of multiples even more than with just clomid? When I go in for my day 12 u/s that will show me how many follicles i have right? and what exactly are follicles? how many should i produce? sorry i'm so new to injectables! thanks in advance!
211043 tn?1337050701 My IUI is scheduled for 8am tomorrow and I just wanted to check in with the rest of you and see how you are all doing? I got lots going on in there, but officially only 4 mature ones (LOTS of other follicles that are close!). They keep warning me about multiples and I keep saying "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it - lets just get me pregnant first!
788859 tn?1236734548 yes femara has a short half life, so its out of your system way before conception starts! a lot of people on here have used it to get pregnant.. i used it on many cycles combined with injectables.. it helps with ovulation and endometriosis suppression as well, and has less side effects for most people than clomid! GOOD LUCK!
1383908 tn?1457401728 My question is what are my chances of multiples? I know the trigger can aide in releasing all mature follicles, and just didn't know if that increases my chance of having more than one baby if we do in fact conceive this month. I would be ecstatic with a singleton, and additional beans would just be an added bonus!! Any thoughts are appreciated.
866901 tn?1505506236 If you want a better bet, ask for a prescription for Femara, and also remember that you are upping your chances for multiples--they are even more pricey than IUI! Your guy could take clomid and/or Proxeed to improve his numbers, and that might do just as much good as IUI. I agree with the doc that his numbers aren't that bad though.
449498 tn?1338772039 I was prescribed Follistim but there are many others, such as Femara and somehtig else. For mine, insuranced paid and I had to pay $75 for a cycle or something.. My hubby did that on me in the stomach and it isn't painful at all!!! So don't worry, they help a big deal! I am 5 weekspregnant now and hope to stay pregnant the full term!
