Common Questions and Answers about Femara miscarriage

femara

691236 tn?1311199974 I ovulate on Clomid - but did not on Femara. I will start Femara again, maybe a higher dose this time with trigger and IUI! Hoping it works this time - but that is pretty much all my RE is prescribing now, he loves it!
Avatar f tn t give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes. He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy. Wish me luck! Any others had success with this vs clomid?
Avatar n tn Just before i found out i was pregnant my doctor had prescribed me letrozole femara which I didnt end up needing to take. Unfortunately, because I was so overwhelmed with grief over the miscarriage and could not think rationally, I decided to take the letrozole counting the bleeding from the d&c as a period in which i used from day 2 throught to day 6. As mentioned, it has now been 3 weeks 4days since the d&c and today I had a positive pregnancy test.
Avatar n tn i had good results the 1st round on femara. ended in missed miscarriage, so we tryed again this month and not baby, but rd 2 starts in 2 days. just a thought you may want to ask your re about femara 2.
320424 tn?1205500555 and got pregnant on that (+ follistim) and IUI , it was our third round of femara.. like everyone said, the nice thing about femara is the side effects are few and tolerable, it doens't thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
Avatar f tn My RE was actually saying that clomid or femara could help with a miscarriage IF your progesterone levels after O are on the low side. He thinks my second miscarriage was due to low progesterone, and said clomid/femara will help increase my chances by producing stronger eggs and a stronger ovulation...and therefore also higher progesterone levels. Oh, and I did four unmedicated IUI cycles over a year ago, and I also always had a nice mature follicle before ovulation.
Avatar f tn I used Femara on days 3-7 with ultra sound on day 12 as well as HCG shot. I had four follicles, 28, 22, 18 in right ovary and 13 in left ovary. Day 23 progesterone check was at 40, which means I at least ovulated. Has anyone been in a similar situation with any luck? I was on clomid for 3 mos with no sucess before Femara.
Avatar m tn No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
Avatar f tn before having a miscarriage my periods were very regular after that it is a mess the first one came 36 days after mc and the second came 47 days after the 1st i dont know how should i detect when i am ovulating
1096016 tn?1257365306 I am on my first round of femara 2.5mg. My RE says my husbands swimmers are fine, so we just did timed sex after the ovidrel shot. I gave the ovidrel shot on 10/20 and had timed sex on 10/21 and 10/22. I have extremely sore breasts and have been feeling light headed and tired...which I guess it could be in my head. I gave in and took a HPT and it was negative today 11/3. Should I give up hope on this cycle?
847330 tn?1238713603 I don't know why my other post wasn't posted. Anyway I am knew to this forum. I wanted to know if anyone knows which process is better for women with PCOS? IVF with Clomid or Femiera Or/ IUI and transfering two eggs or three for a women almost 29ys old. My husband and i don't want to start too late because we want 5kids and also my parents had children in their 40's and they said it's better to start ealier. We had a miscarriage.
413852 tn?1317308712 Your OBGYN is right. Mine also had me use Femara for 4 cycles to try to increase our chances since I am in the dreaded "unexplained" category. It worked great for me, I O'd consistently, and had minimal side effects (just headaches and hot flashes here and there). We didn't end up with our BFP, but I have seen a lot of women who have with the Femara. Here are two information packets on it.
629668 tn?1222914854 I've taken Femara for about five months. I took Femara on CD3-CD7 with a HCG trigger shot on CD12 for three months in a row. Last month I did Femara CD3-CD7, a HCG trigger shot on CD12 and IUI on CD14. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. I go in for my 2nd IUI this weekend. Femara has helped thicken my lining, but I noticed that I am a little more emotional than usual. It probably doesn't help that I'm all stressed out about what's going on.
725941 tn?1297882209 ( - but found we have a clotting disorder) femara actually has a lower miscarriage risk than clomid since it doesn't mess with the lining of your uterus@ : ) good luck!
1160986 tn?1486819725 ve been able to get pregnant and have been pregnant 3 times within the last 2 years, but they all have ended in miscarriage at 8-9 weeks. Since my last miscarriage at the end of 2009, my cycle has been all over the place and I haven't been able to get pregnant despite trying for the last 7 months. As hard as it's been to get pregnant this time around, the thought that the hard part (sustaining the pregnancy) won't begin for me until I actually do get pregnant scares me.
557306 tn?1239989954 well we have combined femara each cycle with my follistim.. the first two cycles did just femara, but each cycle my estrogen is lower than it should be which is caused by the femara, and good for endo patients since estrogen is the catalyst for the endo, so he is a big fan using femara and combining it with injectables in endo patients.. we've talked about the femara for suppression, but since we are at least getting pregnant we havne' t talked about it too seriously...
553399 tn?1290832126 side does not function due to severe endometriosis and an endometrioma destroyed it - had it removed by surgery, and we have lots of other issues too) we got preg using femara, follistim and IUI.. unfortuantely miscarred later , but trying again with the injectables and femara and IUI.. so hopefully it will work again! GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn Im still trying to wrap my head around it. All my dr's said IVF was the only way it could happen. I didnt have that kind of money so we tried iui with Clomid with one dr, then when that didn't work and that Dr refused to try less expensive approaches we moved to a new Dr. He was willing to try Femara and ovidrel since I don't ovulate on my own. First cycle resulted in two cysts which I had surgery to remove at the end of January.
Avatar f tn I used clomid and it took 3 months but it ended in a miscarriage. Then I took femara which is equivalent to clomid that was out of stock and got pregnante the first cycle. Usually 3 to 6 months is the time it takes but some dr want you to try for a year before investigating other treatment. Also doing your temperature curve help to know if clomid is efficient. I was on 100 mg if I remember correctly. With femara dosage is lower.
1340383 tn?1309990914 I got pregnant on both of them (different cycles). The femara one ended in miscarriage, but it had nothing to do with the medication. I'm now almost 13 weeks pregnant thanks to clomid. I don't have side effects either way, maybe headaches with femara but I can't remember. It took me a few months to start responding to the femara. Clomid is known to dry out your cervical mucus and make the lining of the uterus too thin for implantation.
Avatar f tn in the middle of your cycle??? I took femara this month. Today is cd18. My LH and progesterone showed no ovulation occurred and that it is not about to occur. My E2 level was 91. Is that high or low for being in the middle of a medicated cycle??
415867 tn?1323365503 I would definitely ask u to try out Femara once. With lesser side effects Femara is worth a try if you have already done 6 cycles of clomid. I O on my own yet did IUI and Femara to get pregnant. Femara helps u strengthen the eggs( my FSH was higher than expected) and IUI helped me cos DH has some morph issues. I think your Dr wants to make sure ur levels are down and u have one normal cycle before he puts u on medication again.
1448645 tn?1370067496 A bit of history… We have been trying for 19 months now after our first miscarriage at 8 weeks. The second happened again at 5.5 weeks. My doc thought it was to progesterone levels but wasn’t sure and didn’t seem to be proactive, so i decided to change doctors. My new doc did all sorts of tests on both of us and other than having pcos, there is no reason to not falling pregnant. I use to have 28 day cycles and then on to 30 days and up to 40 days. The doc controlled these with hormones.
Avatar f tn Said it sounded like it was a chemical pregnancy after my miscarriage in April 2012 I had 2 regular periods then my period suddenly became irregular in Aug 2012 period was 3 weeks late then started.then was late again 8 weeks late.what could be wrong my Thyroid tests are all normal.could clomid help?
1692948 tn?1306190482 The second on clomid did, but I had an early miscarriage. The third on femara worked but I lost it at 10 weeks. This 4th (waiting for period now) on femara hasn't worked. I will try again immediately next cycle. They are putting me on progesterone now, theorising that maybe I'm losing the babies due to luteal phase defect. Hope this helps.
