femara longer period

I was on chlomid for 7 months and for the past 2 months have been on femara. I got my period this week and took 3 days of femara - on the 3rd day had a funny feeling like I should take a pregnancy test. It came back positive. I went to get blood taken and it too came back that I'm pregnant. What are my chances of having complications - birth defects - if I carry to full term?

I just started taking 2.5 mg of Femara. Yesterday I had a very small amount of blood, then it went dark right away and nothing else since. Today is cycle day 29. I have had 1 sore breast for 4 days now, no cramps whatsoever. I would have gone for bloodwork on Moday but it was a Holiday here and the labs were closed. I didn`t go yesterday because I thought my period was here so I didn`t bother. Now I guess I will go for bloodwork this morning to see how the Femara is working.

) and that she is recommending me do lupron or femara for supression for 3-6 months.. we have been ttc for a year so before surg we thought we wouldn't do any of those meds since it woudl simply delay concieving longer.. I have pretty much decided against lupron, but may be open to doing femara for three months constantly.. anyone done this? i know it can be used for ovulation - like clomid.. but looks like new studies are showing if you use it consistently it is helping...

Hi,thank you very much for your replies.Any way I got my period and purchased femara with doctor's prescription.Actually my periods are irregular.Doctor asked me to use femara after i got period.So before period I was normally searched online femara tablets and costs.Now I am using femara which were given by doctor's prescription.In the same hospital pharmacy only I took the femara tablets.Once again thank you.

I was in good condition means my cycle but clomid did all the trick from irregularity to no bleeding, longer period and late ovulation and no CM ..ufff but we didn't know this all so just waited for 4 cycle. It is always good to ask so many question and tell ur concern about the result to your doc.

yep..sounds famliar. I was crampy on Femara but I will not be using Femara again since it made me cystic..i just finished a cycle of Menopur injections and had no side effects whatsoever. I am on the 2ww.

so now I went to fertility clinic used provera to bring on my cycle which started on jan 7th used opk day 12 through 15 like instructed all negative went to dr had ultrasound to check for follicle growth had ripe follicle 22mm did bd late that night which was cycle day 15 next am got the smiley on clear blue digital advanced opk which meams peak chance for fertility then did bd then next night cycle day 17 went to dr day 21 progestrone test it is supposed to be between 8 and 10 mine was 21 now

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

I was on tamoxifen for 5 years and have been on femara for 3. The back pain and joint pain has gotten horrible. I can no longer stand up straight or walk very far. I am 64 and afraid I will no longer be able to walk soon. I stopped femara 4 days ago. I wonder if any else has had this problem with the very severe joint pain, and if it will go away any time soon. My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. my Pharmacist reminded me that I still had one refill left of the Femara so starting with March cycle I used the Femara as prescribed...i detected my surge on the 16th of March therefore dh and I did our thing everyday twice a day all the way through the 21st of March..trying to cover all bases. hi i'm 36 and have had problems with my menstral cycle for a long time, last period was april 2005, yeah a long time ago. my husband and i want a baby really bad and know that i only have a couple of options. i'm very interested in ivf but very expensive. is there any meds that i can take to make me ovulate so i can try and get pg on my own? does anybody have the same history as me? i don't wanna wait any longer since i'm getting older and at higher risk.

I also have Pcos and of course have to take provera to get my period and I dont know if that is the only reason I am starting my period without the ovulation if thats true. I just want to know if its possible to start your period naturally without provera or meds and not ovulate, or if you have to have ovulated first? Hope this makes since.

ve been on three cycles and had break through bleeding (BTB) every time after ovulation intermittently (starting and stopping) for at least 3-5 days and then it stops before my period and then my period begins.

Some doctors would recommend increasing your Clomid dose, I personally might consider switching you to Femara. If you were my patient, I would definitely supplement progesterone if you do conceive this cycle. Oh, and, yes progesterone definitely can and will vary from month to month. If there is any question about whether you are ovulating, I would suggest ultrasound for follicle studies to a patient of my own. Good luck!
