femara

Avatar n tn Many women suffer from hot flashes caused by these medications but can find some relief when they avoid hot and spicy foods, caffeinated drinks, alcohol and smoking and having lots of fans in the house...LOL. I hope that your wife will soon consult with her Oncologist and see what can be done to relieve her discomfort. All the best to both of you...
1530658 tn?1299766324 Had hot flashes and mood swings. It works by making your body think u are starting menopause. Then your ovaries go crazy making follicles to keep you fertile/ young as long as possible to fight it off. Good luck.
Avatar n tn nausea, hot flashes, weight gain or headache. (http://www.medicinenet.com/tamoxifen-oral/article.htm) FEMARA (letrozole tablets) is approved for the adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer. It is also approved for the extended adjuvant treatment of early stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are within three months of completion of five years of tamoxifen therapy.
586512 tn?1218512079 Doc said it would help with the lining of my uterus. We tried 3 cycles of clomid and IUIs. No success. Clomid gave me hot flashes and may have made my cervical mucus hostile. This cycle, I took femara and had IUIs (in 2ww). I didn't have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid. On clomid my progesterone was about 18 for 3 cycles, on femara my progesterone was 15.
Avatar n tn Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. Joint pain was experienced more often with Femara versus tamoxifen. ref: http://www.femara.com/home.jsp?m=2 Additional side effects for both Femara and tamoxifen are heart attack, thromboembolic events, endometrial cancer and second malignancies. bOTH THE DRUGS CAN CAUSE GAIN IN WEIGHT.
Avatar f tn I haven't experienced headaches while taking shots, but I agree about the hot flashes! Have you experienced weight gain with the shots? I gain about 3-5 lbs with each round of shots. Luckily it has already started to drop from being off of it for two months. Do you get cycts on your ovaries when you go back after you start your cycle?
1434731 tn?1382722384 Hot flashes were the killer for me... day and night.
Avatar f tn Hey girl, just spotted your post up here. Yeah, I had really bad hot flashes from the clomid so they put me on femara (primarily used to treat breast cancer, apparantly it either blocks estrogen or tricks your body into thinking it doesn't have enough and thus produces more or something to this effect). For the first IUI with the clomid I had two follicles emerge and then they gave me a trigger shot of Ovidrel.
Avatar f tn i never had anything but maybe one or two small hot flashes.. TOTALLY tolerable!!! we have gotten pregnant three times using a combination of femara + injectables.. GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn The only side effect that I had was having hot flashes a couple of times. Nothing too terribley bad. Other than that nothing else. It really stimulated my ovaries.
Avatar f tn I too suffer from migraines for the last 19yrs I also take femara and my experience is yes you most likely will get a headache dull botherson but nothing like a full blown migraine trust me when I say I know your pain first hand.
992128 tn?1364371742 I to have pcos and the side effects that I remember were the breast tenderness and a few hot flashes but I will do it all again when its time for us to ttc again! Good luck and lots of baby dust!
Avatar n tn hi i finished 5 yrs on tamoxifen with minimal side effects. i did gain about 8 lbs and had hot flashes and insomnia. thats it. i took a 5 week break where my "thermostat" started to cool down and i slept better. did not lose any weight and ive alway been thin. i am now on femara. i was wondering if you are going on it. im on femara for about 2 1/2 months and not that happy on it. i was wondering if your dr. prescribed it for you and if not why.
772910 tn?1249563035 My lining is very thin and I guess clomid natrually thins the endometrial lining, which I didnt know. Besides that, I had 0 side effects with femara-no hot flashes, no headaches and no emotional outbusts which my DH was thankful for. :) Hope this helps and good luck to you!!
Avatar f tn I had no side effects from femara, whereas with clomid the side effects were terrible (moody, hot flashes, sore boobs, etc) femara was wonderful compared to clomid! my first cycle on femara I did not ovulate, but on my second round of femara i used hcg injection and got pregnant that way. good luck!!
Avatar n tn Anyway, I liked Femara much better than Clomid. Clomid gave me terrible mood swings and hot flashes. The only thing I noticed with the Femara was that I had mid-cycle headches and I read somewhere that is one symptom that is typically stronger with Femara vs Clomid. Like bny said, Femara doesn't thin your lining and it also doesn't have the risk of OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation) like Clomid does.
725941 tn?1297882209 Another name for it is Femara and like Heather said, it is similar to clomid in that it "tricks" your body into producing more estrogen and should therefore help you ovulate. I also took it for 4 cycles and liked it much better than Clomid, no hot flashes or crazy mood swings. Typically you'll take 5 mg on cd3 through cd7. I've seen it work for a lot of people. It did help me O every cycle, but we just didn't get pregnant for some other reason I guess.
320424 tn?1205500555 If you had problems with CM while on Clomid, then it's probably a good idea to try the Femara instead. I've tried both (4 cycles on each) and I have to say that I did like the Femara better. With Clomid I had horrible hot flashes and was a little moody at times, but didn't have that with the Femara. The only thing with the Femara was that I got horrible headaches mid-way through my cycles and I did read somewhere that is the one side effect that is usually worse with Femara.
772910 tn?1249563035 Clomid made me cry, hot flash and get a poofy stomach. It tricks your body into thinking you are menopausal. Hang in there.
Avatar m tn ve been going through menopause for about 15 years, still get hot flashes....will the anti-estrogen therapy get rid of them, or make them worse?
Avatar f tn ll have no problem staying on this drug. Tamoxifen I thought was easy except for weight gain and hot flashes. I heard awful side effects for Femara but Im trying not to believe everything I read as everyone is an individual so side effects vary. Hope you are doing better. Take Care.
994212 tn?1280630056 I ovulate on my own but took Clomid 3 times to help me release more than one egg and increase my chances of preg. 2 of those times I conceived the first cycle. But I did MC. Sometimes it gives you side effects similar to menopause (hot flashes, moodiness, bloating). But for most people, it is the natural 1st step. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn I agree with Quinns Momma...I am surprised you are on hormones without knowing that you are the problem. That being said, your husband doesn't have to set foot in the doctors office. He should be able to produce a sample and if he doesn't want to deliver it, you can. It would save you money on hormones if he was the one with the problem. That being said... I was only on Femara one cycle and I never ovulated. I had a 49ish day cycle and then I finally started.
1030058 tn?1252253572 I have now nearly completed 5 years of Arimidex, My Oncologist ir recommending that in October I change to Femara secondary to a clinical trial which has concluded that I am at some risk of the cancer still recurring. I am unsure about this as the side effects of the arimidex hot flashes, weight gain etc causing me to be on a high dose of Effexor are quite debilitating at times. What are my risks if I choose to just stop the Arimidex and not continue with a change to Femara...
Avatar f tn With the Clomid, I got really bad hot flashes and gained a few pounds. On the Femara, I felt a lot better and just seemed to get headaches once in a while and a little more sleepy. I have unexplained infertility, so I was given these just to increase our chances. I took the Clomid for 4 months and then the Femara for 4 months. I did ovulate, so both did what they were supposed to, there just must be another glitch that we're missing.
