Common Questions and Answers about Femara hormone

femara

Avatar f tn I am a 48 yr old female infiltrating ductal grade 2 ER/PR pos Her-2/neg oncotype 24 diagnosed March 2010. I completed chemo and radiation, currently taking femara. I have so much joint pain and stiffness my activities including work are very difficult. I am seriously contemplating stopping the femara. What are your feelings about this? I know the importance of the drug but am really having a hard time. I have tried altering the time I take the drug and nsaids and still not happy at all.
1580043 tn?1333550441 Hello! Yes, cramping from both ovaries is common from Femara and Clomid (and other similar ovulatory drugs) by increasing amounts of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Under normal hormone levels a race progresses for one follicle to become the largest, but when there's extra FSH multiple follicles will become enlarged in both ovaries. This is most likely what you're feeling, as I've had similar symptoms from Clomid.
415687 tn?1228746275 3 cd 17, and i didnt think that was great, i was taking femara and my dr hoped it would be higher, so she wants me to try femara again this month.
1204794 tn?1300704113 I went to my ob/gyn yesterday and she consulted with my ER doctor, and they determined that the BTB can occur when undergoing hormone therapy such as Femara, and that it should be considered more a inconvenience rather than a cause for concern. She said that it does not mean that it will decrease my chances of conception. So to all you Femara and Clomid users no need to worry about it. Easier said than done I understand.
Avatar n tn My first question is does my chance of survival change because the pr was more receptive than the er or does hormone therapy work as successfully on either. I have also been on tamoxifen for the past few months but I am about to commence ovary suppression with zoladex and then start femara. Would this be what you would recommend for my type of cancer or should I stay on tamoxifen for another 1 to 2 years and then change.
405855 tn?1217100767 I remember your post about your gigantic follie last month! You are on Femara now, right? You said Clomid first, then Femara, but I think I remember you are on Femara. Anyway, a trigger shot is called such because it "triggers" ovulation. Thus, your doctor is inducing ovulation before your body actually does it naturally. With fertility issues, many women (including me) do not ovulate normally on their own all of the time, so that may be why you did not last cycle.
Avatar f tn (through his nurse) about hormone blocker pills he says no , i have asked him for my pro/est. receptor sites results from my (6 lb. tumor) surgery, 11/01/05 he says there was no positive results, I just finished 6 rounds of doxil and my ca125 is 108 , i asked him whats the next plan he says i need to come in for a talk , i said i need to drive 3 hours for a talk, his nurse promised he would call me to answer some questions about whats next he never called. what do you think ?? my dr.
846905 tn?1258817444 That therapy alone may be enough to help you ovulate (some people also lose weight). Or you may need something like Clomid or Femara in addition to help. If you don't ovulate monthly, you won't have a regular cycle, and it takes a long time to get pregnant. Oral contraceptives in combination with Spironolactone and Vaniqa can be useful for excess hair growth and acne. But of course don't help you ovulate. Hidradenitis can be tricky to cure/treat.
708150 tn?1268273933 Hi-- my follies & hormone levels on Femara weren't ready until day 18 so I had several u/s and blood draws the week of O. I had 2 IUIs back to back with each cycle except the cycle we got the BFP on... that one, we only had one IUI right after O. I didn't do the trigger shot when I was on clomid or femara since my hormone levels were rising normally. This just means more u/s and blood draws to monitor when the natural surge takes place.
Avatar f tn Anyone get pregnant using femara/letrozole after being given unexplained infertility diagnosis? How many months did you take it before you got your positive? Me: 28 Hubby: 30 Sperms analysis perfect, laparoscopy perfect, all tests for ovulation and ultrasounds looked perfect. Trying since 2012 no pregnancy yet This is my 2nd cycle on femara, next ovulation expected on 1/14. If 3rd cycle not successful, will do iui with femara anyone else done this and got pregnant? ?
Avatar f tn You might ask your Oncologist why she has discontinued your Femara. The hormone levels in your body could be checked and you might also ask about that. Regards .....
1697057 tn?1351540435 m 38) and nothing-why do I not get pregnant and why is he putting me on Femara? Are there contraindications using Femara even if you do regularly ovulate? How useful is it?Thank you so much....
223956 tn?1208737570 Hi Shandris! How low was your progesterone? An did they increase the dose after they told you it was low? I agree with Helen, though, if you've been on clomid for nine months, it's probably time to try something else. If you're not quite ready for injectibles, you could ask to try Femara for a month or two. Some women respond better to Femara than clomid, and it has less side effects. I'm currently on my first month on Femara and have not had any side effects at all. Take care!
Avatar f tn On femara, so does this mean femara is only helping the 80% and the 20% is not being addressed. Only was addressed through ACT .
Avatar n tn I had breast cancer in my right breast 7 yrs. ago, had a lumpectomy, & had chemo. & radiation therapy for that. I couldn't follow up with Temoxaphen because of negative receptors. Cancer was found in my left breast now, so I had a bilateral mastectomy and no cancer cells were found other than in the new cancer site when pathology was done on the removed tissue and nodes. this cancer had positive estrogen receptors. The diagnosis is good and was rated as a "0".
Avatar f tn Im still trying to wrap my head around it. All my dr's said IVF was the only way it could happen. I didnt have that kind of money so we tried iui with Clomid with one dr, then when that didn't work and that Dr refused to try less expensive approaches we moved to a new Dr. He was willing to try Femara and ovidrel since I don't ovulate on my own. First cycle resulted in two cysts which I had surgery to remove at the end of January.
Avatar n tn If her cancer is estrogen receptor positive as well as being slow growing, then the hormone therapies like Femara, Aromasin, Arimidex, etc. seem to be the best choice at the moment. Those are drugs that were primarily given to post chemo breast cancer patients since breast cancer is usually estrogen related.
Avatar f tn Do you or anyone know if using stimulating hormone drugs (femara/clomoid or like) alone without injectables is enough to fall pregnant with low AMH? My ob is hoping that it will be as we really dont want to have to go down IUI or IVF track... I stress & worry enough as it is & I dont think its a favourable option!
216278 tn?1308861082 He concluded that I have some form of ovarian dysfunction (NOT infertility), due to my late ovulation, long cycles and lacking CM. He also said that my hormone levels look great (meaning there isn't anything chemically going on) EXCEPT for my DHEA levels. He said that those were a little low at 95; he'd like to see them in the 200's. Since I am already taking Armour Thyroid for a subclinical hypothryoidism problem - it 'fits' that my DHEA might be off.
Avatar n tn The CT scan showed that the swollen lymph nodes have now shrunk back to normal, the masses in her pelvis have gone and the only thing thats left is a small spot in her liver which they are not sure whether its cancerous or a scar left from the cancer. They have given mum a hormone tablet called femara to take for the rest of her life which they have said is an anti cancer drug and will kill any cancer cells. Has anyone had this? I am pleased that the chemo has worked.
1096016 tn?1257365306 I am on my first round of femara 2.5mg. My RE says my husbands swimmers are fine, so we just did timed sex after the ovidrel shot. I gave the ovidrel shot on 10/20 and had timed sex on 10/21 and 10/22. I have extremely sore breasts and have been feeling light headed and tired...which I guess it could be in my head. I gave in and took a HPT and it was negative today 11/3. Should I give up hope on this cycle?
Avatar f tn I will be starting Femara on my next cycle. I tried Clomid for 2 cycles, but I believe that it is thining my lining and drying up CM. I've read that this does not happen with Femara. Any other differances/similarities? I know that Clomid makes you O late, but have been reading that Femara makes you O early. Is this true? Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. btw I already O on my own, I'm taking it to produce more eggs.
Avatar f tn Hi I read your last post and it asked about hormone replacement therapy , this is a different thing from hormone blocker pills as hormone replacement is just what it says it replaces the hormones lost after menopause and I believe that blockers are used to treat women that have hormone dependant cancers in that they block the hormones made in the body that feed the cancer .
