Femara for pcos

Common Questions and Answers about Femara for pcos

femara

847330 tn?1238713603 If you did IVF you wouldn't need Clomid. They'd stimulate your ovaries to produce large follicles (eggs). They'd then retrieve those eggs. They'd also collect your husband's sperm or donor sperm and fertilize the eggs in a petri dish. They'd then be transferred to your womb. IUI is different than IVF. They have your husband give a sample of semen, or they could use donor sperm, and would inseminate you. I'm sure there is more to it that someone else could explain.

Avatar f tn I have PCOS and have been ttc for a year now.. clomid didnt make me ovulate.. I have regular cycles. The doctor put me on metformin and femara (spell check) which I did ovulate on so thry say from my progesterone levels..but still not pregnant. Does any one knows what I could do to help me become pregro?
1160836 tn?1332330169 I have not gotten pregnant yet, but femara has worked great for getting my follicels ready. I have 3-4 follicles each month. I have PCOS and DH's morphology is on the low side, so there could be many reasons why I'm not pregnant yet. Good luck!
586512 tn?1218512079 I've been ttc for 18 months. I've been seeing a RE for 5 months now. Good luck ttc. If you're going to use clomid and are worried about your cm, you might want to check out Pre-Seed. I've heard and read many great reviews about it.
Avatar f tn so us ladies with pcos when we are given clomid our cysts might get bigger instead of singling out a follicle to mature. so for women with pcos femara is a better choice. I have already taken five rounds of clomid with metformin and i did not ovulate. did you take the femara yet?
320424 tn?1205500555 I tried clomid for 8 months and got one BFP but ended in early m/c. So now this cycle (when af shows) I am trying the Femara - less side effects than clomid (I have endo and PCOS). I just read some research on it that my RE gave me and it said it is found not have any side effects on the endometrial lining or CM. So, def. looking forward to that! Good luck and keep us posted!!
Avatar n tn It was originally for breast cancer, but seems to help with ovulation in pcos. From all the research ive done laprascopy is sort of the last resort. I'd try a new doc.
1626928 tn?1378850167 Hey guys, I am a 27 year old female and have been diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis. I have taken 4 months of clomid up to 150mg and did not produce one egg. I recently switched doctors and am getting ready to start my first cycle of femara. I am taking 2.5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
Avatar f tn Hi! Many PCOS patients don't have the usual constellation of symptoms. A very good friend of mine ( and mother of 3 ) had PCOS and is quite thin and fit--she has a lovely complexion too. If you were my patient, the first thing I would do is to (after checking the pregnancy test which I ALWAYS do ) treat you with 5 days of Prometrium. This medication should start your period and "clean out" your uterus. Then, I would start you on Metformin and Femara.
Avatar f tn ve Only Tried One cycle Of Clomid And Did Ovulate With It Before My Dr Switched Me To Femara. Provera Induced Period, Cd 2, Start Femara 2.5Mg Tomorrow. Anyone Ever Have Success With Femara With No Pcos Or Iui?
Avatar f tn I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly. So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.
992128 tn?1364371742 Results are...I am pregnant. I tried femara for 8 of my 12 months not one side effect until the last time which turned out to be the golden ticket...I had joint and lower back pain, it hurt to walk and I felt immense pain. My RE said it had nothing to do with femara but the moment I started until 4 or 5 days later until the pills were done I had pain. The next day miraculously I was fine, no more pain. This was my experience.
328927 tn?1227761840 I have mild PCOS and responded to Clomid with 1 follicle for two cycles (one bd, another iui). I skipped a month w/meds and O'd on my own. I just started Femara cd3-7 and Follistim 75 cd5-9, and haven't been able to find out any real live stories of BFP with this protocol, how many tries it took and number and size of follies normally seen. I was also wondering how many follicles is to few, and how many are too many where the RE could cancel a cycle in fear of OHSS?
415687 tn?1228746275 Hello ladies, I have pcos and I took clomid and metformin for 5 cycles ovulated only twice on it but didn't get pregnant. I had to stop the clomid because it gave me ovarian cysts and it continued growing bigger. Pls ladies, What else did you try when clomid didn't work ?
873190 tn?1304812975 No, I do not have PCOS. The idea behind Clomid or Femara for me is to ovulate more than one egg, giving me more chances that one of them will be "good" and it will get fertilized.
1650143 tn?1343745554 I was told yesterday I have pcos.. they are going to start with iui's first then if not successful next would be ivf.. anybody get pregnant having pcos doing iui's??
Avatar f tn Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?
478429 tn?1265244387 Hey ladies, I'm doing Femara this month for the first time - not much luck with Clomid (8 months= 1 BFP early m/c). So I took one month off and decided to give Femara a try before injectables (if needed). So, who here got p/g taking Femara? Trigger ? IUI? etc.... and how many cycles did you do? I'm excited to try something new that could really work, so I'm wanting a bit of good hope!!!
Avatar f tn I am a little scared that I will keep getting the cysts though...It seems to be taking a while for me each time and it is frustrating for me. I know I need to be patient...and calm. Has anyone gone through this? any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?
Avatar f tn Last month, I had no side effects, but this month I did have a headache for the first two days. But in general, I like femara a whole lot better than clomid! Best of luck to you!
Avatar f tn Hi I have pcos and tried clomid with provera a few cycles with no luck at all didnt ovulate.....
Avatar f tn Hi there after not being able to fall pregnant after 8 months I pushed my Ob for testing as I was starting to become concerned about nothing happening... I was very blessed to naturally concieve our beautiful little boy 27months ago. Lucky I did as I have found out I have an extremely low amh reserve of 3.8 unusally low for my age I have been advised!! A complete shock but thankfully natural instinct realised something wasnt right... So my Ob started me on my last cycle on femara 2.5mg...
Avatar n tn I think the first thing to try is clomid (or maybe femara), since it's just a pill you take every day for five days in the beginning of your cycle. Your doctor will probably start you off on the lowest dose, and then monitor you to make sure you ovulate. If you don't ovulate on the lower dose, he or she will probably give you a higher dose.
Avatar f tn Im also on femara cycle.I don't ovulate on my own .clomid didn't work on me. I have been using femara for 6 cycles. Its working very well. Im ovulating every month and im getting periods on my own.I had iui this month, waiting for results. I wish u good luck.
