Hello, Femara (letrozole tablets) is approved for the adjuvant (following surgery) treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor–positive early stage breast cancer. Femara is also approved for the extended adjuvant treatment of early stage breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are within three months of completion of five years of tamoxifen therapy. In the adjuvant setting, commonly reported side effects are generally mild to moderate.

I am proud of my weight loss.. however, I am really scared of gaining weight if/when we get pregnant. Thank You again..

Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

HI, Women with PCOS can have problems with ovulation and conception. Weight loss if overweight and insulin sensitizing agents like metformin will help with the PCOS. For induction of ovulation, drugs like clomiphene and femara can be used. If these do not help then gonadotropins can be used. Consult an infertility expert for an opinion. Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?

If you were my patient, in addition to recommending diet exercise and weight loss, I would prescribe Clomid or Femara. These medications in addition to the Glucophage might help you to ovulate and conceive. It definitely sounds like you have PCOS, and there is a good chance that you will eventually conceive, but taking Clomid or Femara would definitely speed up the process for you. Good luck!

I don't know about Femara but I have gained weight on Tamoxifen. I get to stop taking it next month and I can't wait to see if I lose some of this weight.

I started spotting April 14th (day 2 after 5th day of femara) til 16th. Heavy period 17th and 18th. Medium on 19th and light on the 20th. Spotting a bit today. I did take an ovulation test tonight...faint line which is still considered negative. A little confused when I should expect that ovulation. Any ideas?

That sounds like it should be good for you if you are ovulating on your own and aren't having any other problems. I was on femara and avandia (for PCOS), and I had to have a trigger shot (because I don't ovulate on my own). But I got pregnant on my second month of femara (with IUI). And that was after 6 years of trying and being on clomid for a really long time. So I really believe in femara!

Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

I took a couple of cycles off from medication and decided to try it again this month. I had 3 good sized follicles after the Femara and Follistim, then triggered Saturday night and had the IUI Monday (38 hours later). Now it's the torturous 2 weeks of waiting!!! Wish us luck! Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..

I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?

I have Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma was treated with cvs chemo for two years, also have Invasive Lobular Carcinoma resulting in a masectomy, tried femara, faslodex,arimedex,and tamoxifin for 4 years. Had two hip replacements in the last 2 years, suffer from a cognitive disorder from all the chemo, and have sever depression. I cannot take any anti depressants due to suicidal tendicies. I take endocet for my pain . I cannot exercise as I used to due to the surgeries.

Hi! From your story, you almost certainly DO have PCOS. This is simply a catch all term for failure to ovulate. Some women have lots of tiny cysts on their ovaries, and others don't. It can improve with weight loss, but there are also thin people who have PCOS. Basically, to simplify, PCOS is a hormone imbalance that causes failure to ovulate. If you don't ovulate, you won't have a period.

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!

This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

I've noticed that since I've begun fertility meds such as Clomid, Femara, Gonal F, etc.... my hair has been falling out. Not large chunks of hair, but strands - enough that I've noticed and so has my hair dresser. It's not breakage, it comes from the root. I don't have bald spots and according to my hair dresser it's not alarming to her, but it is to me. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, are you doing anything to correct it?
