Femara and uterine lining

Common Questions and Answers about Femara and uterine lining

femara

Avatar f tn What is a good way to thicken the uterine lining. My lining my last two cycles have been 7mm then 5mm. I was on clomid both times, and my RE has switched me to Letrozole. I'm going on vacation this month so won't start a cycle till October. I heard baby aspirin will help, but not sure if this is safe.
374593 tn?1257879950 Not sure if this is more likely from my recent lap (3 weeks ago) or from the femara? anyone have any ideas? Do you think that it will affect my uterine lining this month if AF was only around for a mild 2.5 days? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I actually was on Clomid for one cycle and it thinned my lining. They switched me to Femara and my lining thickened up. Last time, it measured 11mm.
Avatar f tn Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!
Avatar n tn Hey, I know I heard that Clomid can cause your uterine lining to be thin. Was your uterine lining thin before the Clomid. I hope this IUI works for you. I am in the dreaded TWW too.
Avatar f tn he said for example sometimes they implant in tubes or outside the uterus and theres not an ideally thick uterine lining there. so he said this is the best hes been able to get me to respond.
Avatar f tn If your progesterone levels are not within the expected range with Femara, even when ovulation occurs, your doctor may want to supplement you with progesterone after ovulation. Progesterone not only helps with ovulation, but also helps to build the uterine lining. If the lining is too thin, it can cause the egg not to implant in the lining or can lead to early miscarraige. Good Luck!
1340383 tn?1309990914 I tried Clomid for one cycle, but it made my lining too thin, so we switched to Femara. Even while on Femara I had a thin lining - rarely more than 7mm. The month that I got pregnant, I was on Femara, I had drank red raspberry leaf tea before ovulation, and eaten a heck of a lot of pineapple core after ovulation. Apparently the tea "tones" the uterus, and pineapple core helps with implantation. Strange that your Dr would precribe something for you and not monitor you properly.
Avatar f tn The first was an unmedicated cycle, the second was with clomid and i only had 2 follicles. My uterine lining was VERY thin (clomid naturally thins the lining) so my RE switched me to femara for my third IUI. I had 6 follies! But none took so I will do my 4th IUI next week. I love the femara-I have had no side effects. On clomid I had headaches and hot flashes. Good luck to you!!!!
5875562 tn?1410898886 That happens to me. Clomid could thin your lining. And if you dont hv good lining, its hard to achieve pregnancy. Talk to your doc abt switching meds. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Doctors put us straight on clomid when we have a fertility issue without checking if we have an issue with our lining. It seems to me clomid is becoming more and more common, and our lining issues less and less considered by the average gyno/GP. After an unsuccessful round of IVF I pushed for an ultrasound once a week during my cycle to see what was normal for me in terms of what was the thickest I got to, which was 4 mm.
1561241 tn?1294973577 I have had three vaginal US to check my uterine lining and only one has been acceptable. This month, I took Aygestin and Provera and started my cycle both times but fell short 2 1/2 days of a full cycle. I am scheduled to take Follistim injections, HSG injections, and vaginal suppositories but cannot do that until my uterine lining is acceptable. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what was the next step?
1108951 tn?1258618690 Femara works mostly the same as clomid - however, femara doesn't thin your uterine lining like clomid does giving an embryo a good chance to be able to implant. Typically Femara has less side effects and is tolerated better. As far as dosage..you'll need to talk to your doc about that. Chances are they will start you on the lowest dose just like clomid and go from there. Most docs want you to take clomis CD 3 - 7, but some say 5 - 9.
384150 tn?1399904816 i have used both clomid and femara, prescribed by my RE. i didn't get pg, but he felt femara to be a better drug.
772910 tn?1249563035 my RE swiched my to femara and I had 5 one cyle and 3 the last cycle. My lining is very thin and I guess clomid natrually thins the endometrial lining, which I didnt know. Besides that, I had 0 side effects with femara-no hot flashes, no headaches and no emotional outbusts which my DH was thankful for. :) Hope this helps and good luck to you!!
Avatar f tn There is some thought that Femara may be less likely to cause negative effects on cervical mucus and the thickness of the uterine lining, compared to Clomid. Although Clomid is usually effective at causing ovulation, it can also cause problems with cervical mucus and the lining of the uterus (which may explain why some women ovulate on Clomid but do not become pregnant).
495138 tn?1221217880 s supposed to be better for your lining and your CM. I would definitely talk to the doctor about it. Femara is really a breast cancer drug, but it's "off-label" use is for Fertility, so I think some doctors don't prescribe it. If you search online about it, you will find a lot of scary info. on birth defects, but I have found that it leaves your system really quickly, so this is only a cause for concern if you take it while you are pregnant (Clomid has the same warning).
320424 tn?1205500555 t thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
Avatar f tn The femara is better for you because it doesn't thin your uterine lining like clomid does. I also noticed alot less side effects with the femara. I didn't use the menopur with it though, so I only had one follicle. But it worked for me on the 2nd cycle!
Avatar n tn Is femara really so much worse than clomid? I am doing my infertility work up now and will be going on clomid cycle after next and I have heard so many awful things about the fact that clomid gives you all of these side effects and does famara do the same thing without the side effects?
Avatar f tn s counts are normal, my tubes are open, I ovulate on my own and my uterine lining is good. RE is having me start femara this cycle (days 3-7). Has anyone had luck with taking femara (without IUI) for unexplained infertility?
Avatar f tn Yes I took it on cd3-7 and got prego the first cycle. (Also did follicle monitoring and hcg trigger that cycle) Femara is different than Clomid. Clomid binds to estrogen receptors and makes the body think estrogen is low. Femara actually blocks the synthesis of estrogen. Both have the same effect though - which leads to more FSH and LH which stimulates follicle growth in the ovary.
1235159 tn?1323009319 I did femara with injectibles, worked first shot and I just had my baby girl feb 21st. Good luck.
1370272 tn?1278353652 I did 4 cycles of clomid and although I produced lots of great follicles it did not work for me because it thinned my uterine lining. This is a common side effect of clomid. Your doc may do a mid-cycle u/s to monitor your lining. If not, if you notice that you periods are shorter that can indicate that it is affecting your lining (mine were only 1-2 days). If that is an issue there are other drugs they can switch you to. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Clomid seems to have more side effects (moodiness, ovarian hyperstimulation, reduction of cervical mucus, and thinning of uterine lining) than Femara. Personally, I have taken both and did like the Femara better, but everyone responds differently. I'm sure your doctor can give you some advice on that. If you have any other questions, let us know. Good luck to you!
1108951 tn?1258618690 t thin your uterine lining and dry out cervical mucus. also - there are far less side effects than on clomid. it's hard to tell when you will ovulate. its a good idea to start taking opks on cd 8. if i take femara cd 3 - 7 i usually ovulate around cd 12 or 13. if i take it cd 5 - 9 then its usually around cd 15 or 16. good luck!
Avatar f tn Hello! well i just took my first femara pill today (its my first medicated cycle- will be doing trigger, iui and progesterone this cycle) Its similar to clomid in the sense that it stimulates ovulation, and from what i hear also can help increase progesterone in the LP and lengthen it simliar to clomid...
