Femara and puregon

Common Questions and Answers about Femara and puregon

femara

1178023 tn?1293733628 I have just finished an IVF cycle with puregon and have had amazing success with the drug. Yes there were some small side effects (bloating and swelling were the most noticeable with a few days of headaches), especially near the end of the cycle. I used Luverex as well in combination with the Puregon. I ended up with over 15 follicles that were usable after 10 days on the drug. The benefits outweigh the negatives with this one.
Avatar f tn Hello! well i just took my first femara pill today (its my first medicated cycle- will be doing trigger, iui and progesterone this cycle) Its similar to clomid in the sense that it stimulates ovulation, and from what i hear also can help increase progesterone in the LP and lengthen it simliar to clomid...
Avatar f tn I have been on fertility hormones for 6 months. I took a combination of puregon, femara and ovidrel, steadily increasing until last month. For the past 3 to 4 weeks I've had dramatic hair loss. Is this the reason?
Avatar f tn t do anything and then the same cycle cd 11 the Dr. gave me 100 puregon, cd 12, 100 puregon, cd13 250 puregon, cd14 350 puregon!! then cd 15 i got an hcg shot, 10,000iui Then my period started on its own 11dp trigger shot, so I went to the Dr. he told me I should lay off the meds for this month. I was scared so I went for another opinion the other Dr. was shocked at what the first Dr. gave me! He said I wouldn't even give this amount to a patient undergoing IUF! It was very aggressive.
Avatar n tn This time I was advised to start 50iu of Puregon and was lowered to 25iu since I responded very well with Puregon. I end up growing only 1 mature egg. Had 3rd IUI and still failed. Does anybody know what could be the reasons why it's not working? BTW, I am diagnosed with PCOS. Also, I have 1 daughter conceived naturally and was fast (honeymoon baby). So, I really don't understand why I'am having trouble conceiving. Should I go through IVF?
1106081 tn?1289166025 #2 If CLOMID works for you go for it, it did not work for me...femara and Puregon for multiple eggs were better for me. The problem for me wasn't producing eggs it was my husbands translocation on Chromosome 10. Get the HCG shot and an IUI, also if you can be intimate that night after the IUI and two days prior to the HCG. This worked for me, after a year of trying I just had a nagging feeling I ovulate early. 3 natural cycles for IUI seems quick when the next step is IVF.
Avatar f tn I am getting ready to turn 37 years of age and I have been trying to conceive for the past few years - went through testing (no issues on my end nor husbands, diagnosed with unexplained infertility). I've tried clomid, femara, gonal-f and menopur over the past year. My most recent IUI cycle was cancelled due to a poor response and estradiol levels dropped on menopur (150 iu); however, the next protocol is recommended to be menopur again - but at a higher dose of 300 iu (150 2x per day).
1002983 tn?1349822086 I'm just wondering, has anyone used 'out of date' puregon before? I opened a new cartridge on August 12, but only used one dose, as I had over-responded, growing too many follies. There is still about 325iu in the cartridge. It's in the fridge, and my RE told me the other day I could use it for my next cycle. It will be by then about 40 days since it was opened. Two of the nurses told me I shouldn't use it, and I was just wondering, if anyone has any ideas here?
2193012 tn?1343046121 now as i told u dr has changed my medicine and she gives me folitism(puregon) injection and she prescribed the dose 300 iu its too much i called her but no answer from her. tell me that menopur 150 iu and puregon 300 iu is same or dr give me very high medicine.

324913 tn?1302869517 That sounds great for you Sally... I hope those ovaries are maturing away like mad. For me, I actually don't have any pain in my ovaries or cramping. I know what you mean though... I had it the first two times but not last time. But I did just get someone else telling me she has the same symptoms as me (sans cramping and ovary pain) and she's also on Puregon like us so I'm hoping it's just the Puregon. Good luck!!! I still want you in that 2WW with me!
144100 tn?1283522567 Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!
Avatar f tn I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.
Avatar n tn Ranging in size 13mm - 8mm Grow Grow Grow! I am still on 166iu of puregon and a mhcg (ouch). and go back tomorrow for more bw/us. The puregon pen made it easier than I thought it was going to be. RE says egg retrieval probably on Easter Monday! I'm hoping all goes well! Stickey Vibes to all. And a Happy Easter Holiday.
Avatar f tn If we do go again it will be Long protocol 300IU Puregon w/ .75 menopur and Superfact since Orgalutron did not prevent the LH Surge. Not sure if there's a more agressive treatment, if the recommended next step is as good as it gets or if we throw in the towel?
1021834 tn?1379292300 re talking about response, for some reason I responded well to Clomid at 39 and 41 and did not respond well to Gonal f or Puregon. The injectibles cost us thousands of dollars while Clomid cost like 30 (until I found it at ivfmeds.com and then it was even cheaper). My friend who is in her mid 40s is being tried on Femara, which is also cheaper than the injectibles.
Avatar f tn Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar f tn Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..
Avatar f tn I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?
Avatar f tn Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???
1299014 tn?1273247877 I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!
Avatar f tn This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.
Avatar f tn I am anxious to concevie again but have been told by my doctor that I will need a combination of clomid and metformin. Has anyone done both and been effective while breastfeeding ? .
Avatar f tn last month was my first month and femara. I had the same spotting, and my cycle was also 30 days. (usually mine is 35 though, so 30 was better for me). . . the spotting bothered me too, I kept hoping that it was implantation bleeding. But no, finally af came full force. This is my second month on it. I o'd the same day this day as last month, so expect the cycle will be 30 days again. Good luck with your IUI!!
Avatar n tn One follicle 14 mm and 2 follies 11mm and 12mm. I have been advised to continue puregon 150u alt. day( would be my 7th inj). i will have another scan on monday and my RE said possibility of insemination on thursday/ friday.
Avatar n tn I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime
Avatar f tn Well i did 4 cycles of Injectables, using puregon (FSH) and triggered with Ovidrel, fell pregnant on my 4th cycle but just miscarried over the weekend, but mine was just BD and not an iui. i guess it's pot luck.
Avatar n tn I was on femara and the pain was so bad. I thought my back and knees hurt from exercise the pain was from femara. all my bones hurt. when i went off it within 10 days the pain was gone. I am now on aromatex although not purfect the pain is minimal and if i swim alot it helps with the pain. there are other drugs that do the same.
