Femara and progesterone

Common Questions and Answers about Femara and progesterone

femara

Avatar f tn Some women respond better to clomid and others to Femara. You should talk to your doctor about checking your 21 day progesterone this cycle. Part of the importance of this is not only to ensure you are ovulating, but the progesterone will indicate if it was a strong ovulation. Higher levels of 21 progesterone can indicate a better chance of pregnancy success.
318181 tn?1336443496 but my temps used to get up to 99 or so druing the tww before, so not sure which is better, they are in the 97 range since being on femara and progesterone.. Well any change from negative cycles is a good thing i think so I hopet that its a good sign for you!!! keep us updated!
Avatar f tn With the Femara 5mg(CD3-7) and Progesterone (CD16-25) medication, I seem to have put on weight and become quiet moody. Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise what could be the reasonand I need to do ?
366262 tn?1360031596 today is cd 18 and i just went and had my bw done yesterday to check my progesterone and so now i am just waiting for the results, i hope its good news. and i did use my preseed. and fermara wasnt to bad to me, my dr told me it has a better success rate then clomid, but everyone responds to meds differently, so i hope it works for me, i am really hoping.
586512 tn?1218512079 t have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid. On clomid my progesterone was about 18 for 3 cycles, on femara my progesterone was 15. I'm thinking that if you're going to have IUIs, it might not make a difference which one you take. But if you're going to try it the old-fashioned way, maybe femara would be better.
658287 tn?1318893057 That is a good number. 12 -14 dpo is a good time to test. Good luck!
Avatar f tn ve heard that with femara and progesterone people get strong preg symptoms... maybe that will help me not read into every symptom this cycle (though i am sure i still will!!) It seems like forever since i've been in the 2ww since we missed last cycle due to the lap.. well GOOD LUCK! keep me updated!

1204794 tn?1300704113 I'm on my second round of Femara and it appears that I am ovulating. My BBT and LH test were consistent with each other. But I'm still having break through bleeding starting after I ovulate. I had a really heavy 6 day period, ovulated on Day 14, and on Day 18 had a spot of blood and Day 20,23, and 24 I had pre menstrual like bleeding. I wass on BC for 8 years and have been off of it since 2006.
Avatar f tn I had four follicles, 28, 22, 18 in right ovary and 13 in left ovary. Day 23 progesterone check was at 40, which means I at least ovulated. Has anyone been in a similar situation with any luck? I was on clomid for 3 mos with no sucess before Femara.

Avatar f tn well i just took my first femara pill today (its my first medicated cycle- will be doing trigger, iui and progesterone this cycle) Its similar to clomid in the sense that it stimulates ovulation, and from what i hear also can help increase progesterone in the LP and lengthen it simliar to clomid...
Avatar n tn My reproductive endocrinologist put me on progesterone suppositories because my cycles were getting shorter and shorter (like down to 22 days) and I was having mid-cycle bleeding and spotting. I continued on the progesterone for the first 10 wks of my pregnancy. I am just wondering, if I am pre-menopausal....and why is my progesterone so low and is getting on the pill the only way for me to right my hormone levels again? Am I in danger of not being able to have another baby?
Avatar f tn I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly. So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.
Avatar f tn m on my second cycle with Femara and Ovidrel, and we actually just did IUI today. What is it that you are so worried about specifically? I haven't had any bad side effects so far from either drug, although I have to admit I had a tough time giving myself the needle. I ended out having hubby do it for me. As for how long it takes to get your bfp, it really differs from person to person. Some people will get lucky on the first round and other have to keep moving up the ladder.
Avatar f tn I was on clomid for 3 months and had u/s that showed good size follicles and had a progesterone test done along with opk tests for months that all pointed to me ovulating. I am now going to an re who had me start femara with ovidril cd 3-5. I got the 250mg shot on cd 15 with 2 mature follicles and thick lining. RE was happy with the u/s. We did not have ivf or iui- all natural, besides the drugs. I was looking for anyone how has had success and/or is in the same boat.
Avatar f tn This is my second month on femara. I am on cd15 and my follies are growing so slow - only 13.5mm! (Last month they were 17mm on cd12!). Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? Also, what is too slow? Is there a day by which your RE would just stop the cycle and induce AF? I am just worried to get prego so late in my cycle. The 2 miscarriages I had were when I ovulated late (but were natural cycles, no meds).
1667711 tn?1308527354 So we had to take May off due to a cyst. So when we went back this cycle, the doctor didn't like the structure of my lining after clomid so she put me on femara and had two nice size follies on my right overie, one 17" and one 19". Went and did insemination 6-15. The donor had 40million sperm this time as apposed to the 16million last time. So I am hoping that is a plus. Has anyone had better luck with Femara vs. Clomid?
1160986 tn?1486819725 had me try a cycle of Femara (Days 3-7), Follistim (Days 6, 8, 10) in June, then I triggered and had an IUI 38 hours later and started Progesterone the next night. It was unsuccessful. I took a couple of cycles off from medication and decided to try it again this month. I had 3 good sized follicles after the Femara and Follistim, then triggered Saturday night and had the IUI Monday (38 hours later). Now it's the torturous 2 weeks of waiting!!! Wish us luck!
Avatar f tn Hello, I have Ulcerative Colitis and just found out I have low progesterone. I am trying to get pregnant and I wanted to know what I should do next?
Avatar f tn Clomid seems to have more side effects (moodiness, ovarian hyperstimulation, reduction of cervical mucus, and thinning of uterine lining) than Femara. Personally, I have taken both and did like the Femara better, but everyone responds differently. I'm sure your doctor can give you some advice on that. If you have any other questions, let us know. Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!
1647475 tn?1363137097 I am 29 and we've been TTC for 3 years now without any positive results (no miscarriages either though). I took 6 rounds of Clomid (3 at 50 mg & 3 at 100mg) and nothing. I am seeing a fertility specialist now and this is my first month taking Femara at 5 mg and we'll combine it with IUI as soon as get positive ovulation.
Avatar f tn You doctor should do a 21 day progesterone to indicate that you are ovulating and the progesterone levels are in the expected ranges. If your progesterone levels are low, it can lower your chances of conceiving, but it can be treated with progesterone supplements to improve your chances. Clomid can also thicken your cervical mucous, which can make it more difficult for sperm to swim through.
Avatar f tn He thinks my second miscarriage was due to low progesterone, and said clomid/femara will help increase my chances by producing stronger eggs and a stronger ovulation...and therefore also higher progesterone levels. Oh, and I did four unmedicated IUI cycles over a year ago, and I also always had a nice mature follicle before ovulation. This time around, the follicles are about the same size, but my progesterone levels at 7 dpo much higher (41.4 on my first femara cycle).
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would definitely supplement progesterone if you do conceive this cycle. Oh, and, yes progesterone definitely can and will vary from month to month. If there is any question about whether you are ovulating, I would suggest ultrasound for follicle studies to a patient of my own. Good luck!
