Femara and pcos

Common Questions and Answers about Femara and pcos

femara

Avatar f tn I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.
Avatar f tn Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise anyone ?
Avatar f tn I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?
Avatar f tn yes i do have pcos, I have already taken 5 rounds of clomid with metformin and have yet to ovulate. I had ovarian drilling two weeks ago and i am suppose to start femara soon.
405855 tn?1217100767 Yes. I do have mild PCOS. My doc did a US and bloodwork again on CD13...the follis had not grown futher infact some were shrinking. The blood work showed progesterone at 1.18, which they said meant I had not ovulated. The FSH was 7.9...which I have no clue what should be in CD13 or what does it signify. The esterogen had moved up from 23 to 44 now. Lining was better ...close to 6. (Wondert if it can grow2-3 mm in a day). This cycle is very wierd....infact I am thinking it is almost busted.
Avatar m tn No, the rate decrease if your taking metformin. I also have PCOS and I had a miscarriage in October..every since then I haven't had a period or ovulate on my own so my doctor put me on provera, metformin, and letrozole(femara) to get pregnant but the metformin alone will help you NOT to have a miscarriage...good luck to you sweetie. I think you should ask your doctor about taking metformin, it corrects PCOS also...
1160836 tn?1332330169 I am taking Femara and I am on 5 mg cd3-7 I would love to hear any sucess stories and how long before you got that BFP. If you were taking anything else with it. I am also taking metforin 500mg a day. I also have PCOS. Share your good news here.

1439094 tn?1320322110 Yesterday i went to the doctor , he did a ultrasound and discovered i have PCOS . He has put me on femara and estradiol. Has anyone ever taken this? Does anyone have any success stories of getting pregnany and having PCOS ? God Bless you all .
586512 tn?1218512079 I'm also taking metformin, though I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS. Doc said it would help with the lining of my uterus. We tried 3 cycles of clomid and IUIs. No success. Clomid gave me hot flashes and may have made my cervical mucus hostile. This cycle, I took femara and had IUIs (in 2ww). I didn't have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid.
Avatar f tn I had an HSG to make sure my tubes are open and they are. I had my first round of femara 2.5mg and metformin 500mg last month. Went back to the doc and he said no luck PCOS still in the way. Did a progesterone test and my level was 8.7 some docs say I ovulated some say I didn't I have no clue. AF arrived as to be expected and I did another round at 2.5mg amd metformin 1500mg. Went to the R.E. Specialist yesterday and had a u/s apparenltly femara does not like me at least not 2.5mg.
320424 tn?1205500555 t thin your lining (which actually makes miscarriage rates lower with femara) and it actually improved my CM! i have endo and pcos as well, and it can actually be used as an endo suppressive drug, so thats why we choose it initially! good luck!
Avatar f tn Even if you have insurance. I see people with PCOs and there succes stories and it makes me wnat to throw up. There is nothing else I can do. I am a lost cause and no one around me knows how it feels to be me or how I feel.. No one can say anything right to make me feel better. I feel so unmotivated and depressed. My family either dosen't care, or says oh we'll keep this for wjen you get prego or when you gonna have one, I could just scream.
392087 tn?1252605359 he put me on provera and clomid... im just not sure what this whole pcos thing is, ive done some reasearch, and everything i have read so far says that i do not ovulate, or so i think, so thats why the dr gave me clomid?
Avatar f tn A very good friend of mine ( and mother of 3 ) had PCOS and is quite thin and fit--she has a lovely complexion too. If you were my patient, the first thing I would do is to (after checking the pregnancy test which I ALWAYS do ) treat you with 5 days of Prometrium. This medication should start your period and "clean out" your uterus. Then, I would start you on Metformin and Femara.
1626928 tn?1378850167 Hey guys, I am a 27 year old female and have been diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis. I have taken 4 months of clomid up to 150mg and did not produce one egg. I recently switched doctors and am getting ready to start my first cycle of femara. I am taking 2.5mg two times a day of femara/letrozole and 1500mg a day metformin. I am curious about side effects, advice, success stories, etc. I am anxious and have been TTC for 3 years total, 2 with a doctors assistance. THANK YOU in advance.
Avatar f tn I am a 29yr femalen and I am ttc I had all the blood work done and its showing I have PCOS. I was put on metformin 500mg last month and had one cycle of femara 2.5mg and my doctor said it was not working as fast as he wanted to accoriding to the u/s. He said my PCOS was still hindering my ovaries from working properly. So I am going to see a specialist next week. He also increased the metformin to 1000mg and it will increase again on the 14th to 1500mg.
Avatar f tn ve Only Tried One cycle Of Clomid And Did Ovulate With It Before My Dr Switched Me To Femara. Provera Induced Period, Cd 2, Start Femara 2.5Mg Tomorrow. Anyone Ever Have Success With Femara With No Pcos Or Iui?
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that you do have PCOS and if you take a medication such as Clomid or Femara to help induce ovulation your chances of conceiving are going to be much better. Provera will induce a period but will not induce ovulation which is what you need to become pregnant. I would suggest that you see a reproductive endocrinologist to help get you started on some better medications. Metformin might be a good idea too in conjunction with the Clomid/or/Femara.
1650143 tn?1343745554 You are going to find LOTS of company in this forum! Pcos is very common, and usually responds quite nicely to fertility medications. From the studies I have seen recently, it appears that a combination of Metformin and Clomid or Femara produces the best results. Adding the IUI increases you chances as well. Good luck!
992128 tn?1364371742 Im not pregnant yet I have pcos with a ovulation issue. So the femera is doing what we expect and that is to mature follicles and the hcg makes me ovulate. I am currently on day 2 of the 4th and hopefully the last femera cycle.
328927 tn?1227761840 I have mild PCOS and responded to Clomid with 1 follicle for two cycles (one bd, another iui). I skipped a month w/meds and O'd on my own. I just started Femara cd3-7 and Follistim 75 cd5-9, and haven't been able to find out any real live stories of BFP with this protocol, how many tries it took and number and size of follies normally seen. I was also wondering how many follicles is to few, and how many are too many where the RE could cancel a cycle in fear of OHSS?
415687 tn?1228746275 Hello ladies, I have pcos and I took clomid and metformin for 5 cycles ovulated only twice on it but didn't get pregnant. I had to stop the clomid because it gave me ovarian cysts and it continued growing bigger. Pls ladies, What else did you try when clomid didn't work ?
847330 tn?1238713603 If you did IVF you wouldn't need Clomid. They'd stimulate your ovaries to produce large follicles (eggs). They'd then retrieve those eggs. They'd also collect your husband's sperm or donor sperm and fertilize the eggs in a petri dish. They'd then be transferred to your womb. IUI is different than IVF. They have your husband give a sample of semen, or they could use donor sperm, and would inseminate you. I'm sure there is more to it that someone else could explain.
873190 tn?1304812975 No, I do not have PCOS. The idea behind Clomid or Femara for me is to ovulate more than one egg, giving me more chances that one of them will be "good" and it will get fertilized.
Avatar f tn I have been on femara 2.5 mg for ovulation induction. I have PCOS. This is the first month I have been on the femara before that I was on clomid for 6 months with nothing happening at all. I have CD 13 follicle scans. Friday was my CD 13 scan and it showed two follicles one on each ovary. Not sure of sizes. I have been using ovulation test since my scan.
478429 tn?1265244387 we have male factor, one ovary, endo, pcos and LUFS, ugh! i had three follies and two ruptured our bfp cycle... the baby has stopped developing, so I am waiting to MC (i'm 6 weeks 5 days), : ( but it did work, which is further than we've gotten before!
Avatar f tn I agree with cheescake, clomid has been known to cause cysts in women more than femara... it also thins the lining of the uterus and femara doesn't , however it can produce more follies than femara.. i would defintely ask your doctor! i got one cyst on femara.. well two others, but the resolved on their own, and the reason i got those was due to endo and pcos not letting my follies rupture, so then they just grew bigger into cysts!
