femara and menopur

Had scan today and menopur was increased to 150.

Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!

ve been one...femara and menopur. I did three cycles with femara days 3-7, and one shot of menopur on days 3, 5 and 7 (75IU), but one of them got cancelled. Then this past cycle, I did femara/menopur again, but this time did a menopur shot every day from from day 3 to day 10. Unfortunately, it didn't work, though. My RE is completely confused why it's not happening. So I'm now moving on to IVF.

in the past i used clomid/menopur with a trigger shot. this month, he switched to femara/menopur with a trigger. what is different about femara? I got 3 follies first cycle, and 4 last cycle. what would the difference be with femara? any side effects?

I just started my second round of femara/menopur today, so I'm hoping to have a success story to share towards the end of the month :-) As for your follicles, if you will be taking an HCG trigger shot before your IUI, all mature follicles will be released, whether or not they are the dominant ones, so if you have a lead one on your right side now, chances are it will mature and release.

I am getting ready to turn 37 years of age and I have been trying to conceive for the past few years - went through testing (no issues on my end nor husbands, diagnosed with unexplained infertility). I've tried clomid, femara, gonal-f and menopur over the past year. My most recent IUI cycle was cancelled due to a poor response and estradiol levels dropped on menopur (150 iu); however, the next protocol is recommended to be menopur again - but at a higher dose of 300 iu (150 2x per day).

Hi girls. I'm starting my first femara/menopur cycle today, and was wondering if someone could help me. I'm taking femara on days 3-7, and a 75 IU shot of menopur on days 3, 5 and 7. So today (CD3), I'll be taking both a femara pill and a menopur shot. My question is, do I take them both at the same time (i.e. both in the a.m.)? Or do I take femara in the a.m. and the shot in the p.m.?

ll be taking a combination of menopur and bravelle for my IVF. The difference between the two is that menopur has both FSH and LH, while bravelle is FSH only. I think they're pretty close in price (at least they were through the online pharmacy I used).

I don't know what Ovidrel is, is that the trigger shot? I took Menopur, femara and Novarel together (I think Novarel is the same as Ovidrel).

=) I had my iui earlier today, so I'm officially in my 2ww..... ahhhh its already driving me crazy!

No side effects on menopur! I used it with femara and it produced 2-3 good follicles each time! I was only on 75 units, though, and except for the last one, I only took it every other day for a total of three shots. (Jen: I just finished bravelle/menopur for my IVF cycle...also no side effects!

Now I am doing IVF and my dr used the same protocol as Hoping2BAMom and Jennie1211 with Menopur, Follistm and Lupron and I just had my egg retrieval today and got 20 eggs. I definitely believe Menopur is effective. Good luck!!!

Good luck to you :) I did Femara, menopur and a an hcg. We couldn't move forward on month because I had 6 mature eggs, the next 4 and then 3. We have all the right component,but no success :(.

Femara or clomid cd3-7 and then some kind if injectibles (follitism or something like menopur) cd8 until your follicles are mature and ready to be triggered. This is way cheaper then injections only and has a lower likelihood is producing high order multiples. This is what ended up working for me when clomid and Femara alone didn't. I am now 18 weeks pregnant with my second. Good luck.

CD7 today and just took my last femara pills this a.m. and the last menopur shot about 10 minutes ago! So now I just have to wait for my CD12 sonogram on Friday. Hopefully things will look good! Hey, a quick question for Jen and anyone else who has used menopur. The last two shots I took burned a little bit when going in (not the needle going in, but the actual liquid)...but this third and last shot I couldn't feel at all! Has this happened to anyone else?

That is the wrong info, it 100% happens and is happening to me, And is not from low progesterone! It is from IVF meds like Femara, Estrogen Patch, Menopur.

I had a min of two follicles that were ready The DR said their maybe more there were so many follicles that they could not measure them all. I was on femara and today is cd 11 so I am thinking positive and that I will get preggo this month.

i just finished a cycle of Menopur injections and had no side effects whatsoever. I am on the 2ww.

Hi buttercup, and welcome to the forum! I'm on menopur too! Im cycle day 9 today, and took femara (similar to clomid) on days 3-7 and then a 75 IU shot of menopur on days 3, 5 and 7. This is my first month on menopur, so I won't really know how things look until I go in for my CD12 sonogram on Friday. I also take the shot in the abdomen. I would alternate between the right and left side of my belly button, and had no problems with the shots. What days are you taking menopur?

Then sept i go in another lap surgery because i had to remove my appendix. This mth trying again. This time with femara, menopur and going for HCG tomorrow.

I'm doing well. I am CD 2 - starting Femara on Thursday and then we start Menopur injections a week from today. We'll go in next Friday for a follicle check and hopefully IUI next weekend!! I hope that the injections help with getting more follies! What is your dosage of clomid?

Well thsi is cd1 for me and startind Gonal F and Menopur and Ovidril this cycle day 3 this will be IUI number three anyone with me so I can have a cycle buddy?

I had letrozole(femara) and follistim and only had 1. They should monitor you so you know how many follicles u produce before u do the hcg shot. Good luck.

I had to have ovarian drilling done before I was able to conceive. And even then I needed a cocktail of Femara and menopur plus a trigger shot to help it happen. Hope you don't have to go through all that. Good luck.

I had that happen in two of the cycles I was on femara/menopur (only before ovulation, though). My RE said not to worry about it if it's only after sex. But who knows...maybe you're pregnant! The cervix is a lot more sensitive during pregnancy, which can often lead to spotting after sex. Do you know when you ovulated this month?

I ended up doing combo cycles of Femara cd3-7 and menopur injections cd8-10ish with a trigger shot when my follicles were mature. This gave me more eggs in each go. This particular cocktail gave me healthy singleton pregnancies twice. Both on the first cycle. I think it all comes down to finding out what works best with your body. I'm not doing straight shots, but I'll be trying menopur this month too (first month on injectables). I'll be doing femara days 3-7, and a 75 IU shot of menopur on days 3, 5 and 7. I have my baseline sono this afternoon, and depending on what day my RE considers CD1 (I started AF at night), I'll either be starting today or tomorrow. Hopefully it will work for both of us!!! SSBD!
