Femara and low progesterone

Common Questions and Answers about Femara and low progesterone

femara

658287 tn?1318893057 That is a good number. 12 -14 dpo is a good time to test. Good luck!
Avatar n tn m not sure which hormone that would be connected with. Estrogen? I have read that progesterone and Estrogen kind of go hand in hand and if they are both low, then you would get symptoms kind of like what I have had. I would have to have bloodwork done to know for sure. I have been wanting to call the RE but don't really know if it's appropriate. Because once you get pregnant and are good to go, they kind of "dis-charge" you and send you off to your OB.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have Ulcerative Colitis and just found out I have low progesterone. I am trying to get pregnant and I wanted to know what I should do next?
863860 tn?1268700826 I asked if we were doing another round of Clomid and she said we would do 6 and then she would refer me to a fertility doctor. She then mentioned that my previous progesterone level was low 7.4 and depending on what it is when I conceive that I may need progesterone suppositories. Well, my prog. level from day 22 of my first round of clomid was only 8.1. I am just wondering if I should consult a fertility doctor now or wait out the 6 months. I am feeling very frustrated and confused.
405855 tn?1217100767 Yes. I do have mild PCOS. My doc did a US and bloodwork again on CD13...the follis had not grown futher infact some were shrinking. The blood work showed progesterone at 1.18, which they said meant I had not ovulated. The FSH was 7.9...which I have no clue what should be in CD13 or what does it signify. The esterogen had moved up from 23 to 44 now. Lining was better ...close to 6. (Wondert if it can grow2-3 mm in a day). This cycle is very wierd....infact I am thinking it is almost busted.
478429 tn?1265244387 we finally got our BFP while on femara,,, never used any other drugs beforehand, started right with femara, my RE really likes it, esp with endo patients.. it was our third cycle of femara, but also used low dose follistim, trigger (novarel) and IUI.. we have male factor, one ovary, endo, pcos and LUFS, ugh! i had three follies and two ruptured our bfp cycle...
Avatar f tn He thinks my second miscarriage was due to low progesterone, and said clomid/femara will help increase my chances by producing stronger eggs and a stronger ovulation...and therefore also higher progesterone levels. Oh, and I did four unmedicated IUI cycles over a year ago, and I also always had a nice mature follicle before ovulation. This time around, the follicles are about the same size, but my progesterone levels at 7 dpo much higher (41.4 on my first femara cycle).
Avatar f tn Some women respond better to clomid and others to Femara. You should talk to your doctor about checking your 21 day progesterone this cycle. Part of the importance of this is not only to ensure you are ovulating, but the progesterone will indicate if it was a strong ovulation. Higher levels of 21 progesterone can indicate a better chance of pregnancy success.
318181 tn?1336443496 but my temps used to get up to 99 or so druing the tww before, so not sure which is better, they are in the 97 range since being on femara and progesterone.. Well any change from negative cycles is a good thing i think so I hopet that its a good sign for you!!! keep us updated!
223956 tn?1208737570 Hi Shandris! How low was your progesterone? An did they increase the dose after they told you it was low? I agree with Helen, though, if you've been on clomid for nine months, it's probably time to try something else. If you're not quite ready for injectibles, you could ask to try Femara for a month or two. Some women respond better to Femara than clomid, and it has less side effects. I'm currently on my first month on Femara and have not had any side effects at all. Take care!
Avatar f tn m on my second cycle with Femara and Ovidrel, and we actually just did IUI today. What is it that you are so worried about specifically? I haven't had any bad side effects so far from either drug, although I have to admit I had a tough time giving myself the needle. I ended out having hubby do it for me. As for how long it takes to get your bfp, it really differs from person to person. Some people will get lucky on the first round and other have to keep moving up the ladder.
Avatar f tn With the Femara 5mg(CD3-7) and Progesterone (CD16-25) medication, I seem to have put on weight and become quiet moody. Have headaches in the evening usually on CD17 and CD18 and a bloated feeling most of teh days , have observed this in the last few cycles. Is this common with Femara or Progesterone. A bit worried bcos, I also have PCOS and with the weight increase it might hamper my chances of conception. Any advise what could be the reasonand I need to do ?
Avatar f tn (thought I was going to start AF) So dont count yourself out yet. I had 2 m,cs before I had my two sons and the only thing they found was low progesterone. We tried with this one for a little over a year. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn You doctor should do a 21 day progesterone to indicate that you are ovulating and the progesterone levels are in the expected ranges. If your progesterone levels are low, it can lower your chances of conceiving, but it can be treated with progesterone supplements to improve your chances. Clomid can also thicken your cervical mucous, which can make it more difficult for sperm to swim through.
Avatar f tn All comes back normal except I have low estrogen (Day 3= less than 20) and low progesterone (Day 22= 8.4) issues. I have a borderline high FSH level (8.9). I do have pretty bad acne, though it is significantly worse toward the end of the month. My husband has had everything checked and everything has come back great. I characteristically have had no issues getting pregnant. We have had 5 miscarriages; none were checked for chromosomal errors. They were: 1. 6 weeks, miscarried naturally 2.
1420070 tn?1282337926 How many tries did it take for you to get pregnant? Were you on any fertility drugs? Did you do IUI or IVF, with a known or unknown donor? My wife and I are going on our 5th month but 3rd try. The first month was on 50mg of clomid with 3 mature follicles and didn't get pregnant. Second attempt was on 75mg clomid with 7 follicles (5 mature and 3 close, skipped that one, didn't want to be "octo-mom") and last month was on 2.
Avatar n tn Hi I need help! ttc for 18 months...fsh levels day 3 have been up and down 17.1 then 7.5. This time FSH 3.3 but estogen high (supposedly this can suppress fsh) day 23 progesteron was only 2. today is day 26 and after ultrasound and bloodtest i was told that i did not ovulate and must take provera. i have regular periods 26-28 days.
1647475 tn?1363137097 I am 29 and we've been TTC for 3 years now without any positive results (no miscarriages either though). I took 6 rounds of Clomid (3 at 50 mg & 3 at 100mg) and nothing. I am seeing a fertility specialist now and this is my first month taking Femara at 5 mg and we'll combine it with IUI as soon as get positive ovulation.
366262 tn?1360031596 today is cd 18 and i just went and had my bw done yesterday to check my progesterone and so now i am just waiting for the results, i hope its good news. and i did use my preseed. and fermara wasnt to bad to me, my dr told me it has a better success rate then clomid, but everyone responds to meds differently, so i hope it works for me, i am really hoping.
586512 tn?1218512079 t have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid. On clomid my progesterone was about 18 for 3 cycles, on femara my progesterone was 15. I'm thinking that if you're going to have IUIs, it might not make a difference which one you take. But if you're going to try it the old-fashioned way, maybe femara would be better.
1434731 tn?1382722384 I actual do ovulate without meds but my progesterone level was low and the RE said the meds made for "better" ovulation, as I could tell because my cycle on clomid or femara was ~28 days instead of just 21-22 days. In the end I did IVF so I can't really say that either med worked wonders for me, but your case may be different! Definitely ask your doc about risks associated with extensive clomid use. And most of all, best wishes!
Avatar f tn ve heard that with femara and progesterone people get strong preg symptoms... maybe that will help me not read into every symptom this cycle (though i am sure i still will!!) It seems like forever since i've been in the 2ww since we missed last cycle due to the lap.. well GOOD LUCK! keep me updated!
1150573 tn?1261964987 Well I will be starting Femara this month, CD 3-7 , and then progesterone.. I have heard pretty good news with women getting pregnant the first time on this Femara... I sooooo hope this works... Any good positive thoughts will help... We just has our first Blizzard of 2011 here in Douglas Michigan... 18" . I have seen enough of the white stuff... 374593 tn?1257879950 Thank yall for your replies!!!! I just got back from my first RE visit, and he agreed that it looks like i probably have poor ovulation quality, soo we will be doing femara, trigger shot and progesterone this month! first month on any meds and we're doing a lot! so I hope that we can overcome some of our issues!!
1204794 tn?1300704113 I'm on my second round of Femara and it appears that I am ovulating. My BBT and LH test were consistent with each other. But I'm still having break through bleeding starting after I ovulate. I had a really heavy 6 day period, ovulated on Day 14, and on Day 18 had a spot of blood and Day 20,23, and 24 I had pre menstrual like bleeding. I wass on BC for 8 years and have been off of it since 2006.
Avatar f tn Drugs like Clomid are awful- bad cramping, dryness and I cant take that anymore. I took a low dose of Femara this last cycle since thats all my insurance will cover and I have taken it before and it hasnt worked but no harm in taking it again. Has anyone else conceived without getting a positive OPK? Cam Femara affect the accuracy of OPks?
Avatar f tn I had four follicles, 28, 22, 18 in right ovary and 13 in left ovary. Day 23 progesterone check was at 40, which means I at least ovulated. Has anyone been in a similar situation with any luck? I was on clomid for 3 mos with no sucess before Femara.
