femara and insemination

My husband and I have been trying to concieve for over 4 years. We have tried everything under the sun BUT Invitro Fertilization. I'm concerned because we've seen doctors and all they say is they dont know why we cant concieve. I've been on clomid for months, I've had artificial insemination 3 times, and I've done the shots with artificial insemination 3 times. My husband sperm count have been checked and they say it's fine.

hello everyone im new here and i came to this site to see if i could get some help ive been ttc for 3 years now i just recently went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago and he put me on prometrium 400mg everyday for 10 days and then letrozole or femara 5mg cycle days 3 through 7 anyway im checkin for ovulation now and my test have not shown any surge of LH yet but its my first day to test what im wondering is is it normal to cramp what feels like in both my ovaries right before ovulation?

On the first try of iui with donor, they did it without femara and the trigger shot. But they informed me that they missed my ovulation and decided to put me on femara and on the trigger to avoid missing it again/ and having a better control of it. On the second try of iui +donor+femara+trigger shot: they informed that I might ovulated before the trigger shot because they notice that the follicules were too big .

My husband and I ttc in 2005, but with no luck (6 rounds of clomid) I was obese and in 2009, I had gastric bypass and have lost 185+ lbs. I am now close to 4 years out and my husband and I have started TTC again since July of this year. My period started coming on its on about a month and half after taking my last birth control pill. In December, my gyno put me on Metformin 750mg 2 times a day. Then in January added 5mg Femara (days 3-7), also did that in Feb.

I was on clomid 2months, first month was 50mg and had 3eggs, did iui with no success, second time was on 75mg and had 7eggs, (didn't do iui that time, due to too many eggs) both times all on the right side. This month was on femara 2.5mg, and I only have 1egg and it's on the left side, it's 2 and my endometrium is nice and thick. Got the hcg shot this morning and getting iui done tomorrow morning. We are using a sperm donor. Any advice on heightning my chance of getting pregnant...

So we had to take May off due to a cyst. So when we went back this cycle,the doctor didn't like the structure of my lining after clomid so she put me on femara and had two nice size follies on my right overie,one 17" and one 19". Went and did insemination 6-15. The donor had 40million sperm this time as apposed to the 16million last time. So I am hoping that is a plus. Has anyone had better luck with Femara vs. Clomid?

Hello all, I am new to this forum. Just went in to get HSG done and have 1 tube blocked and PCOS. My husband and I are still in diagnosing stages. Not sure what is next. Read some of your comments. What is TCC?

I also have PCOS and clomid (months and months of it - on and off over the course of 7 years) never helped me. We were finally able to conceive after IVF. So don't be afraid to talk with your doctor about more options. And most of all - GOOD LUCK and HUGS to you!!

However, my friend did clomid and she got pregnant and another freind of mine did both clomid and insemenation and got pregnant. So it works for some and others didn't. You're hormones are imbalanced so hopefully it will work for you. Also go on a low sugar/low carb diet to help with your hormones and the process you're going through. I'm following Suzanne Somers diet because I enjoy eating fruit on my diet and I also wanted to see quicker results than a pound a week.

Hard to say since you have long cycles but at 17mm I would guess pretty soon. Best of luck to you!!

I am doing injectable meds this cycle and had the problem at the beginning that my folls were not growing and estradiol levels not increasing. They increased the dose of my meds and that seemed to do the trick. This cycle it took me 13 days of injections and I triggered on cd17, after the 5th u/s. What cycle day are you on? Good luck!

I have been trying for almost 3 yrs to get pregnant, I have PCOS which cause irregular periods and no ovulation. I began fertility a year and a half ago. We took clomid, hcg shot and we completed our 3rd IUI on 2/15/14. I have a confirmed positive pregnancy test however the doctor keeps stating I'm not where I should be. My HCG level are rising slowly I went from 46 to 67 in two days and then 67 to 118 two days later, then 288 two days later.

The reason why I asked about your treatment is because I my doctors are disregarding my break through bleeding after I ovulate as something insignificant. My theory is that because I was on bc for 8 years, even though I stopped 4 years ago, I have not been able to ovulate and my lining might be insufficient to have an egg implant into it, so I would like to be put on progesterone 3 days after I ovulate to ensure a good healthy lining. I have kaiser doctors and I just don't think they care.

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that someone so young is contending with so many medical problems. I am not aware of any CLEAR data that suggests that RA reduces fertility. Certainly hypothyroidism can, but it sounds as though your doctors have that under control. I think that unexplained infertility is the most difficult type of infertility to deal with, both for doctors and patients because there is "no reason" why you should have problems.

Mine was probably 6dpiui and I had implantation bleeding. But this may not happen for all. So you may never know when implantation occured. Have patience and test after 14-15 days.

Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!

When I had my IUI they told me to have sex the night I did the shot and then to not have sex until after the IUI. I had some spotting and cramping the night before my IUI and thought I ovulated early and the nurse assured me that was not possible because the shot was controlling when I ovulate and I wouldn't ovulate before 36 hours. I did get pregnant my first IUI and no I did not do a 2nd insemination, only the one which was a little more than 36 hours after I did my shot.

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

If your O started today you need to have the insemination tomorrow!!!! I've had countless IUI's and when I get my +OPK, I call and go in the next day!! Good Luck!! If you have any questions feel free to send me a message!!!

I am 41 and pregnant. I used femara. Femara often has better results in older women and less impact on cervical mucous. Definitely do HSG test. You want to be sure her tubes are open. IF not you would need to move straight to IVF. Best wishes.

Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..

I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???
