femara and foot pain

Many thanks for your response which has given me hope that I can take an adjuvant bc med, and have no hip or foot pain. As I was dx with osteo arthritis of both hips, feet and hands after a bone scan a few years ago, I just never connected the pain with Arimidex and thought it was "old age" and arthritis. I was discharged by the Oncologist who helped me through chemo and rads, and have only seen my bc surgeon annually since Feb 2004.

t any osteoporous Femara causes swelling and bone pain I switch to Arimidex after being off Femara for 2 weeks and am not having the pain. Please look in to Femara side effects and possible changeing to another drug. I even was in physical therapy for two months because I thought it was me but no it was the drug..

I was on femara and the pain was so bad. I thought my back and knees hurt from exercise the pain was from femara. all my bones hurt. when i went off it within 10 days the pain was gone. I am now on aromatex although not purfect the pain is minimal and if i swim alot it helps with the pain. there are other drugs that do the same.

About the same time I started Femara, I have constant sever pain in my right rib area and now pain in my lower right skull. Bone scan was negative. I know this is likely to be bone mets, but is it possible this could caused by Femara, since the bone scan was negative? I was 26 when I discovered I had ovarian cancer. I had a foot long tumor on my ovary which turned out to be a juvenile granulosa cell tumor. My tumor burst on the operating table and they performed a complete hysterectomy removing both ovaries as well. The tumor board recommended chemotherapy so 2 months after my first surgery I started chemo. The chemotherapy included sisplaytin, if I'm spelling that correctly, and it was quite harsh .

Hi Olefin, I'm curious why you mention that there is small benefit to an aromatase inhibitor such as Femara. Is that just in your particular situation? I had stage 3 invasive lobular carcinoma, 10 cm, two nodes involved, ER & PR positive and HER2 negative. I've had bilateral mastectomies to remove as much breast tissue as possible thereby reducing my risk for a recurrence by a whole lot. I also had DIEP perforator flap reconstruction in New Orleans with wonderful results.

Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

ve been there and feel your pain. Did you start the femara because you were having really long cycles? I take it you don't take your temperature and chart it?

Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..

I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?

My doctor told me the side effects were less with Femara and I guess I thought maybe the pain would be also. On Saturday night (day 12) I started getting horrible pain in my ovary/back. It was excruciating. I could barely walk and not walk up stairs at all. It lasted for about 24 hours and got better but is coming back again. I was wondering if anyone had anything similar with Femara. This is my first time taking this. Thanks!

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!

I tried femara for 8 of my 12 months not one side effect until the last time which turned out to be the golden ticket...I had joint and lower back pain, it hurt to walk and I felt immense pain. My RE said it had nothing to do with femara but the moment I started until 4 or 5 days later until the pills were done I had pain. The next day miraculously I was fine, no more pain. This was my experience.

It is very hard to ascertain if Femara can directly cause fibromyalgia, since this condition or side effect is not routinely reported or classified in the clinical trials that used Femara. What Femara does, however, is that it can have a side effect in bone metabolism causing decreased bone mineralization that can cause bone pains and sometimes may lead to increased incidence of fractures. This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

last month was my first month and femara. I had the same spotting, and my cycle was also 30 days. (usually mine is 35 though, so 30 was better for me). . . the spotting bothered me too, I kept hoping that it was implantation bleeding. But no, finally af came full force. This is my second month on it. I o'd the same day this day as last month, so expect the cycle will be 30 days again. Good luck with your IUI!!

Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. Joint pain was experienced more often with Femara versus tamoxifen. ref: http://www.femara.com/home.jsp?m=2 Additional side effects for both Femara and tamoxifen are heart attack, thromboembolic events, endometrial cancer and second malignancies. bOTH THE DRUGS CAN CAUSE GAIN IN WEIGHT.

I went to the ER last ngiht with severe chest pain and a sharp pain shooting down my left arm. They did tests to see if I had a blood clot and they were all negative. So they sent me home with an anti-inflammatory and pain meds. They said I have a lot of inflammation around my chest wall but couldn't explain why, they said maybe the Lupron is causing it. I emailed my obgyn this morning and she has never heard of this either. Just wanted to ask here incase others have had it. thanks.

Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!

t gotten pregnant after about 8 months. I was started on Femara and went on Monday (CD 13) and there was one follie that was 10 and my lining was 6. I did OPK's this week and nothing. I went back this morning and the 10 had grown to 13 and my lining was 10. There were lots of other ones 7 - 11 in size. I didn't see the doc, just the np. She said normally the doc would abandon this cycle but she said she had a feeling about me.

Hi I have pcos and took provera followed by femara. I developed large cysts and one ruptured causing intense pain and the need to go on painkillers. Has this happened to anyone? If yes, did you continue another round of these meds or some other fertility method?

Besides big joints like shoulder, leg, the joints in every finger is in pain. So my oncologist put be back in tamoxifen. Femara also has risk of causing osteoporosis and I have done bone density test during that time. I am post menopausal. What is recommended duration taking letrozole after tamoxifen?

m on my second cycle with Femara and Ovidrel, and we actually just did IUI today. What is it that you are so worried about specifically? I haven't had any bad side effects so far from either drug, although I have to admit I had a tough time giving myself the needle. I ended out having hubby do it for me. As for how long it takes to get your bfp, it really differs from person to person. Some people will get lucky on the first round and other have to keep moving up the ladder.
