femara and cramps

I just started my first cycle last month and got cramps about 5 days post ovulation that lasted a week. The nurse at the FE office said that can happen. I was hoping it was implantation but it wasn't. We are trying again this month.

The doctor have me on femara for three months. Is femara supposed to make your stomach cramp really bad?

I am on month 2 but I wasn't checked on cycle day 21 last month to make sure I ovulated. I'm not sure if I did or not. This month I will be tested. I had few side affects while taking it last month, but post ovulation (if the opk was correct) I cramped a lot 5 days post ovulation and my period cramps were awful too. Anyways I'm taking it days 3-7 and hoping this month it works. I ovulated (again if kit was right) day 11.

ve been waking up with rather severe tummyaches and intestinal cramps and also getting massive headaches (borderline migraines) in the afternoon.... Could this be due to the Femara?

I have been having menstrual type cramps and even some lower back aches for a couple of days now. I have done Clomid several times and never experienced any side effects. I'm hoping this is a good sign! Anyone experience this on Femara? Or has anyone not O'ed on 2.5mg but been successful at 5mg?

Also, I have read that Clomid can lead to endo coming back quicker. Is this true and is it also true of Femara? I am very worried that then endo will come back, and I would really like the Femara to work well!! Thank You!

I used Clomid for one cycle and it worked. Did you ovulate on Femara? Some women with PCOS have better luck with Femara than they had with Clomid.

I just had the 2nd of my back to back IUI (2nd cycle) this AM and now in the 2WW. I had Femara 2.5 mg day 3-7, followed by overlap Gonal F 150 units day 6-10, IUI April 25 and 26 (Sunday, Monday) and about to start Prometrium tonight. My Beta is on May 9th. Good luck to everyone! I did letrozole(femara) with injectibles and timed intercourse. It worked first try and my baby is now a little over 10 months. I didn't have any side effects from it(except pregnancy lol).

Greetings: I have hepatitis C and am taking 2.5 Femara. My oncologist and my Hep C doc are at odds about the amount i should take. My Hep C doc thinks i should only be taking 1/2 that amount. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I recently had a liver biopsy which showed no scarring and have had Hep C for almost 30 years. I am worried that the Femara may be doing untold damage to my liver. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone used Femara or Clomid and a "boost" of injectables and gotten a BFP? I will be doing 5mg of Femara CD 4 - 8 and then 150IU's of Menopur CD 9 - 11. We'll go in on CD 12 to check the follies and then hopefully proceed with IUI. I am hoping for more than 1 follicle. With Clomid and Femara I usually only have one follicle. It is usually nice and big though. Any thoughts would be helpful - any! Thanks..

I have recently taken my first cycle of Femara to make me ovulate. I have PCOS and do not ovulate often. I am now on cycle day 19 and according to my BBT I have not ovulated. Is is a common thing to ovulate late on Femara? If so, how late is too late to hold out hope for ovulation?

Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself??? This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

I had 6 IUIs using clomid before and got pregnant but unfortunately I miscarry at 6 wks at most. So my doc suggested Femara on my CD 2 for five days just as Clomid. I was supposed to have an IUI on Tuesday. I had an E2 test yesterday counted 61.94 though I developed 5 eggs ,he said it's low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara!

This is my first time on here so I hope this works. This is my first month doing the ovidrel and femara together so I don't know what to expect. I have done the femara alone and have also done the clomid, but the shot is all very new to me. I have another u/s tomorrow to make sure I can have the ovidrel. It would just be nice to know if this has worked for someone and if it has, how well.

Not every girl spots in pregnancy..ive had a few friends get pregnant and they never did spot and one never had cramps, so every girl is different! two of my friends had cramps in their lower left side though like pinching pains around 6 to 8 weeks though so dont worry cramping is common!

last month was my first month and femara. I had the same spotting, and my cycle was also 30 days. (usually mine is 35 though, so 30 was better for me). . . the spotting bothered me too, I kept hoping that it was implantation bleeding. But no, finally af came full force. This is my second month on it. I o'd the same day this day as last month, so expect the cycle will be 30 days again. Good luck with your IUI!!

I do not have periods without taking progesterone. I can go many many months without a period without the progesterone. I am on cycle one of 50 mg of clomid (5-9) now. I have been using OPKs and they have not shown a LH surge but I think I have noticed changes in my cervical mucus. Could I have ovulated and it just didn't show on the OPK? I was also cramping something fierce on day 16. Is this common on clomid?

A very good friend of mine ( and mother of 3 ) had PCOS and is quite thin and fit--she has a lovely complexion too. If you were my patient, the first thing I would do is to (after checking the pregnancy test which I ALWAYS do ) treat you with 5 days of Prometrium. This medication should start your period and "clean out" your uterus. Then, I would start you on Metformin and Femara.

I hate to tell you but I am on Arimidex and I have joint pain in my hips and knees and my fingers are stiff and swollen -- It started two weeks after I started the Arimidex --- It may be gentler than Femara but for me it hasn't been a walk in the part either -- Sorry your mom is feeling so poorly -- I hope they help her quickly -- maybe she should be taking Calcium with Vitamin D in the meantime

I was on femara and the pain was so bad. I thought my back and knees hurt from exercise the pain was from femara. all my bones hurt. when i went off it within 10 days the pain was gone. I am now on aromatex although not purfect the pain is minimal and if i swim alot it helps with the pain. there are other drugs that do the same.

Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!

How long are you taking the injectibles? I wouldn't think you'd ovulate until a few days after you stop the injectibles. I'm doing my first cycle on Femara this month (no injectibles, though), and I also had EWCM for a few days before I had my trigger done. It was actually creamy the day before my CD13 sonogram, so even though I hadn't gotten a positive OPK, I actually thought I had already O'd. I hadn't. There were two follicles there at 18 and 18.5 mm.

m on my second cycle with Femara and Ovidrel, and we actually just did IUI today. What is it that you are so worried about specifically? I haven't had any bad side effects so far from either drug, although I have to admit I had a tough time giving myself the needle. I ended out having hubby do it for me. As for how long it takes to get your bfp, it really differs from person to person. Some people will get lucky on the first round and other have to keep moving up the ladder.
