Femara and cervical mucus

Common Questions and Answers about Femara and cervical mucus

femara

Avatar f tn Doc says I have a big follicle and he says I shudd be ovulating soon. Antibiotics can interfere with the cervical mucus too. I got a trigger shot today also for the first time. So, he says in 42 hrs I willl ovulate. So I will be TTC until Mon or Tues.
Avatar f tn It all depends I took femara one cycle with injectable (ovidrel) & an iui & worked on the first try. I'm 5 weeks & 3 days today. Clomid works but not for everyone clomid often thickens the cervical mucus which makes it hard for the sperm to swim to contect to the egg. I was taking tussin as well my last cycle of clomid but it didn't work. I had 6 cycles of clomid three solo & three with iui's. I wish you the best of luck.

Avatar f tn I got pregnant my 2nd month taking Femara, unfortunatley that pregnancy was a blighted ovim. I started the Femara up again and just finished my 3rd month. I take 2.5 mg on days 3-7. Good luck! It really does work!
Avatar f tn I my cervix are high really soft and open today but they was on CD 16 but not as soft. My cervical mucus has been watery/kinda creamy. I Gareth white before my first positive. Could I be ovulating twice since I had two eggs around the same size on each ovary?
495138 tn?1221217880 Like the other ladies said, clomid can thin your lining and dry up fertile cervical mucus...but only in some women (I think the cervical mucus issue happens in about 1/3 of women). So, I would just discuss your options with your doctor, like you said. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn hello! we just had success with femara (and injectables) and we have endo, pcos and male factor! we did do IUI... however we may be losing this pregnancy (in the waiting game right now) as far as side effects, i didn't have many at all, and it actually can increase cervical mucus unlike clomid. and it does have a short half life so birth defects shouldn't be a worry!. a lot of people have success stories on this! good luck!
5875562 tn?1410898886 well ladies i dont know what had happend period trick me mon n tue n decided to come alil down today but i know whats my problem so now i need help on getting my cervical mucus good to get pregnant because im not getting that at all so incase yall aint know if u dont have enough cervical mucus best believe no bby coming so get it check so im going to do one more round of clomid then stop next month
550035 tn?1263160204 Sorry to hear about your struggles! this all can be so frustrating! but its worth it in the end! As angie said many dr's move onto injectables after clomid.. have you tried IUI's is your dh's SA ok? sometimes people switch to a different oral medication, like femara, just because peoples bodies react difffrently to everything, it doesnt' thin the lining like clomid nor does it strip the cervical mucus like clomid.. so thats an option.. adding IUI's is an option.
586512 tn?1218512079 I'm also taking metformin, though I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS. Doc said it would help with the lining of my uterus. We tried 3 cycles of clomid and IUIs. No success. Clomid gave me hot flashes and may have made my cervical mucus hostile. This cycle, I took femara and had IUIs (in 2ww). I didn't have hot flashes, but my progesterone level went down slightly when tested on CD 19, compared to when I was on clomid.
Avatar f tn I hear ya about the being drained!! sometimes i just want to feel like a "normal" person and live my life and not have to worry constantly about ttc, where i am in my cycle am i preg etc etc etc!!! it defintely gets old, BUT is hopefully all worth it in the end! MANY people get preg on femara, everyones bodies respond differently.. you can come join us on the femara group, there are a bunch of us on there..
Avatar f tn There is some thought that Femara may be less likely to cause negative effects on cervical mucus and the thickness of the uterine lining, compared to Clomid. Although Clomid is usually effective at causing ovulation, it can also cause problems with cervical mucus and the lining of the uterus (which may explain why some women ovulate on Clomid but do not become pregnant).
1108951 tn?1258618690 t thin your uterine lining and dry out cervical mucus. also - there are far less side effects than on clomid. it's hard to tell when you will ovulate. its a good idea to start taking opks on cd 8. if i take femara cd 3 - 7 i usually ovulate around cd 12 or 13. if i take it cd 5 - 9 then its usually around cd 15 or 16. good luck!
992128 tn?1364371742 i like the femera sooo much better. It does not dry out my cervical mucus I dont have the irritabilty i had on clomid either. I ovulated on all but one of the cycles with femera and the one I didnt ovulate was the first month but I think it was due to the fact that I skipped a dose by accident. Im not pregnant yet I have pcos with a ovulation issue. So the femera is doing what we expect and that is to mature follicles and the hcg makes me ovulate.

Avatar f tn Also are you using anything like preseed or conceive plus? I read somewhere that clomid can make our cervical mucus more hostile to sperm ironically. So these need to be used to counteract that. I only hope that IVF isn't going to be the only option after clomid not working. I might be crazy expensive at places. Anyway, I know its easier said than done. I would really discuss your options with your doc or seek out an inferitility specialist if you haven't done so already.
Avatar f tn t give Femara, but our new highly respected RE is putting me on Femara and has very high hopes. He said in some studies Femara is 2x more likely to result in pregnancy. Wish me luck! Any others had success with this vs clomid?
509981 tn?1210965313 I've also been taking it for three cycles and really like it.. but defintely understand your concerns, like tina and candy said it has a very short half life, so its out of your system way before you have the chance to become pregnant taking it... I have also been using HPT's at the end ot the cycle to check for pregnancy and then AF comes before starting another round of it..
Avatar f tn ) we used femara and injectables.(unfortunately miscarriedat 9.5weks).. I have read a TON of stories of people that get BFP's with only one ovary.. has your dr been monitoring you? your one ovary should take over ovulation each month.. You could also switch to a different oral med like femara which wont' thin your uterine lining or strip your cervical mucus like clomid can do! GOOD LUCK! I hope your BFP is around the corner!
Avatar f tn Clomid seems to have more side effects (moodiness, ovarian hyperstimulation, reduction of cervical mucus, and thinning of uterine lining) than Femara. Personally, I have taken both and did like the Femara better, but everyone responds differently. I'm sure your doctor can give you some advice on that. If you have any other questions, let us know. Good luck to you!
629388 tn?1255480562 Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am on my 2nd IUI & also taking Femara. You are the first person I know to also take Femara. Clomid was not successful for me, it created bad cervical mucus. Anyway, I am on Femara for Cd 2-6 & then injectables (Bravelle) CD 7-10. Last month, I had 2 wonderful big follicles. I think they have found my "right recipe" so it's just a matter of everything else aligning. Let me know how your month goes.
1340383 tn?1309990914 Clomid is known to dry out your cervical mucus and make the lining of the uterus too thin for implantation. That was never an issue for me, so I guess it's different for every person.
1057389 tn?1325465587 Preseed is actually a sperm-friendly lube. Since I was worried about not having enough fertile cervical mucus, and the EPO seemed to mess with my cycle, I decided to try that instead. I did actually get pregnant one of the months I used it, but not 100% sure if that was just a coincidence or not. Unfortunately, it ended in a miscarriage, and we ended up moving to IVF this past Spring (so no need for either).
Avatar f tn I have been using OPKs and they have not shown a LH surge but I think I have noticed changes in my cervical mucus. Could I have ovulated and it just didn't show on the OPK? I was also cramping something fierce on day 16. Is this common on clomid? It seems like such a long time to start getting cramps this late having finished the pills on day 9. I also feel dull and sharp constant pains in my left side which feel an awful lot like an ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn I'm on my third cycle with femara (letrazole) and i've really liked it.. its my first fertiliy med that i've tried.. but it doesn't dry up cervical mucus like other drugs can and i've had 1-2 follies each time... and only side effects were very mild hot flashes only 2 or 3 times..no BFP here yet.. but we have tons of other problems.. but lots of people have luck with it!!!! . GOOD LUCK keep us udpated!
Avatar n tn sorry to hear that you've had to go through fertility issues, i know how frustrating it can be! Are you seeing an Obgyn or a RE? i think that everyone should see an RE, they monitor you closer, get mor eanswers and things moving more quickly since its their area of expertise... have you been having ultrasounds to monitor ovulation?? this is SO important.. see how many follicles your producing each month and that they are mature.. and that they are actually releasing!
Avatar f tn I do get cervical mucus, it varies from month to month. I dont like temping since I always forget to take my BBT the second I wake up and it really is all over the place when I tried doing it. I just dont know if I am ovulating or not. The day 21 test just determines progesterone and my gyn says if I am getting regular periods I am likely ovulating.
506760 tn?1218044941 but its pretty typical to develop only one mature follie wihle on femara (while clomid can cause more follies it can thin the lining and dry up your cervical mucus) I had one follie at 22mm the first cycle and two last cycle 19 and 21 (i'm only working with one functional ovary though) but I agree with candie increasing the dose would be a great start....I think that will just make the follies get bigger faster and hopefully increase it to at least two mature ones!
