Avatar m tn Coadministration with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitors, boceprevir and telaprevir, may increase the plasma concentrations and pharmacologic effects of calcium channel blockers, especially the dihydropyridines (e.g., amlodipine, felodipine, nicardipine, nifedipine, nisoldipine). The mechanism involves inhibition of intestinal and hepatic CYP450 3A4, the isoenzyme primarily responsible for the metabolic clearance of most calcium channel blockers.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies, just wondering if anyone has used nifedipine? Im 33 weeks today and went into labor Monday. Nifedipine stopped labor but I've been off of it for almost 24 hours now. Wondering if anyone had labor stop for long/short periods of time...
415165 tn?1243660347 here's what i found just putting Nifedipine and breastfeeding into google....this is going to be long, and i'm sorry, but i do hope it helps! apparently the nifedipine is for relief of painful breastfeeding? nifedipine----used to treat painful breastfeeding caused by the vasospasm of arterioles ---- Treatment options include methods to prevent or decrease cold exposure, avoidance of vasoconstrictive drugs/nicotine that could precipitate symptoms, and pharmacologic measures.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had to take nifedipine fo a few weeks towards the end of their pregnancy? Its my birthday today and I spent it in l&d because I was contracting and they were really close! I was prescribed nifedipine to smooth out contractions. When I stop taking it, is it possible I will go into labor?
Avatar f tn Hi, Adalat is nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker. Nifedipine is completely absorbed after oral administration. The elimination half-life of nifedipine administered as Adalat CC (nifedipine) is approximately 7 hours. So, its unlikely that the medication can be excreted as such, but check with your doctor to rule out any malabsorption syndromes and also if your hypertension is adequately controlled. Regards.
Avatar n tn s I have had an anal fissure for about 3 years, I have had success with nifedipine 0.2% ointment. I will use the cream and it heals the fissure 90%, I say 90% because even when I am using the nifedipine ointment I still have some pain on certain days (when I have the occasional bout of diarrhea or I have mutiple bowel movements in one day) When I stop using the nifedipine ointment all together the fissure will come back and hurt me. My question is...
Avatar f tn Check out the documentary "Under Our Skin" which is about chronic Lyme disease. That's an eye opener! I have four autoimmune diseases and have a negative ANA btw. Hmmm :) I did find a study entitled - Syncope and Raynaud's disease. Syncope is the medical term for fainting. This does make sense that fainting could be a symptom of Raynaud's due to ischaemia (restriction in blood supply to tissues) in the brain.
Avatar f tn My doctor check my cervics to day ago and its 3.5cm, but because I am having so many he put me on Nifedipine xr 30mg but i have not started them. Avatar f tn I had preterm labour stopped 3 times at 27-38wks and was on bedrest and nifedipine until 36wks. I then went into labour and my baby via emergency csection the day after stopping nifedipine at 36+1 but I had been having contractions every day since the preterm labour started 9wks beforehand. Wishing you and baby all the best!

Avatar f tn Hi he didn't give me vistaril. Nifedipine instead!! Lucky me.
Avatar f tn Are you on nifedipine? I get the dizziness too and also muscle weakness which is normal, I'm on it for my bp and to stop my preterm labour, but I would definitely let your dr know about the other symptoms. He may want to check your bp. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I had mine stopped 3 times over 2wks at 27wks. First time they gave me the steroid shots and morphine, antibiotics and something in an iv. Next they tried diazepam to relax my uterus and a different antibiotic and 3rd time they put me on nifedipine and bedrest. I'm now 31wks and still on nifedipine and bed rest and still have cramps and contractions every day but nothing regular.
Avatar f tn I don't usually post on this board but I'm hoping someone here has been thru something similar and can calm me down. Last week I started having long periods of time where my abdomen was rock hard and by end of day Id have period like cramping. I figured it was braxton hicks but when I went for my 32 week checkup (i turn 32 weeks on Saturday) they hooked me up and I was having contractions every 2 mins with an irritable uterus. They scanned my cervix and its 3.

Avatar f tn t matter if I put on two sets of gloves. So the pcp put me on nifedipine for the winter and that seemed to help. (Plus the idea that I didn't shovel snow, son did it, hmmmm.) Last winter, I didn't go on any meds, problem seemed to be gone. This past October, my hands were feeling icy already. So pcp and I said it's going to be a long winter if I'm feeling it this early in the year, go back on the nifedipine. The dosage was different; not in a tablet that I could cut in half.
Avatar f tn I m on75mg vasporin, 500mg aldomet(3 times daily) and 30mg nifedipine. worried it will affect my foetus. does anyone have such issue? I need your advice please.
Avatar f tn Its worked well alone for a couple weeks and like u it started to go up again. So my doctor added nifedipine another pregnancy safe bp med and the combination of the two are awesome. I know u probably don't want to be on more than one high bp med but after all it's your health and u should take care of u and u must be here for your little one. I hope everything goes well and I hope I lifted your spirits and btw my high bp three year old is doing great lol.
Avatar f tn I'm almost 37 weeks, and I'm on nifedipine for a few more days. Yesterday and today I have spotted this light pinkish and light brownish discharge. Could I be in labor? Is it just my cervix dialating? Last Wednesday I wasn't dilated but she was surprised at how soft my cervix was.
Avatar f tn I'm on nifedipine, so far so good. Alhamdulillah! I'm 7 weeks 2 days.
