Avatar f tn Hi all! I was recently put on the 12mcg per he patch by my pain managment doc. After a wek of withdrawal he upped me to 25mcg per hour. Hives or having a visible reaction is it possible that my body is just not absorbing the medication? Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm prescribed a lidoderm 5% patch, which is basically a patch infused with lidocaine. It helps with the nerve/muscle type pain I have in the lower left leg facing outward. By itself, for bad pain it wouldn't be worth the money, but I'm prescribed Lortab 10/650's ( a narcotic ) and the two used together seem to help lower this pain better than either one treatment alone.
Avatar f tn No side effects but I am not sure that it is doing anything for me. It is an MAOI transdermal patch. It requires a restrictive diet or you can go into a hypertensive crisis.
Avatar m tn com) As for my experience with transdermal fentanyl, when I used that patch, I found them effective to 2 days only, after only 3-6 months of use. For me, the problem with transdermal fentanyl was a rapid development of opioid tolerance. Within 18 months of use, my dose had gone from 25 to 100 ug, and I needed another adjustment upward. Instead of doing that, my doc and I chose to use another long-acting opioid medication. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I have been wearing the patch for ~2 hours at this point and have some decent relief. I am suppose to leave the patch on for 72 hours as most patients. If I at any point feel nausea (or any reason) and want to remove is that ok? I only get ten a month and for some reason as of now my insurance company wont cover the fentanyl. They are very expensive ~120-140$. If I decided to take it off can I remove and store in plastic bag until a later time. It could be a few hours or the next day.
Avatar f tn I just recently started using the Nicotine Transdermal Patch to help me quit smoking. I made the mistake of not reading the entire information slip before starting it. Right now I am on the 21 mg patch, and I have been smoking a little here and there after taking off the patch. I have a severe headache, I am nausious, my lungs feel like their closes up, which is making my asthma worse, and now I have a pain in my right arm. Is this a sign of a nicotine overdose? If so, what should I do?
Avatar n tn Sometimes a transdermal testosterone patch will help by increasing the number of red oxygen carrying blood cells, but this has it's drawbacks.
1937645 tn?1324236061 t mention the transdermal patch...she could indeed be allergic to it, many humans can become very irritated by a medicated patch..... I have a full day out with appts etc today but I will try and find some reading about that for you later. In the meantime it wouldn't hurt to ask your Vet as well. post me back and tell me the name of the patch...and I'll get back to you later today or tonight...
Avatar n tn I have been on the Mylan Brand patch now for 7 years, just recently changed to the Johnson&johnson brand due to having no insurance, because the Mylan were $270 per month and the J&J are at no cost to me. I'm having a hard time finding this brand in any drug store in my area. I live in Southern Maine, South Berwick, Maine to be exact. Do you know what pharmacies in my area have this brand of Fentalyn Tr. P 75 mcg? Thank you, M.
Avatar f tn The patch had been replaced approximately 24 hours prior. She has been on the Fentanyl Patch (100 mcg) for about 3 years and uses a tegaderm patch over it to hold it in place. It was on her stomach. She always places the patches on her stomach or upper arm in a fatty area. This is the 4th ER visit in the past 12 months due to withdrawals. Why is her body not absorbing the medication?

Avatar f tn The only 7 day patch I know of is the Butrans patch. Buprenorphine (butrans) is Suboxone. It's normally used for addiction recovery but it looks like they're using it in low doses for pain management in the patch. This is what I found on it from Wikipedia. "Available buprenorphine formulations include a 5, 10 and 20 mcg per hour, 7-day patch, marketed as Butrans in the U.S.A.
617846 tn?1231553233 I am currently using a transdermal scopolamine patch for vertigo. I suffer from profound episodes of vertigo, so the doctor has prescribed me a 1.5 mg transderm patch. I only use it when the vertigo is extremely severe. My problem is this: When I apply the patch, (behind the ear, either right or left) I immmediately experience extreme anisocoria in whichever eye is nearer the patch.
Avatar m tn I caution you to be careful about the additional opiates you are taking with Fentanyl Transdermal Patch.. Be sure you take only what your physician has prescribed. Fentanyl is a very potent opiate. That said, it may take up to 24 hours before the Fentanyl Patch is fully effective. If I am reading your post correctly you reached that 24 hours on Sunday morning at 11AM. It may be just taking a bit longer to be effective.
Avatar f tn The patch has problems staying on according to everyone I have heard that uses it. One of our members and CLs in another group suggest a transdermal patch which they make in a sports formula and she says it stays put! I am sure she will be on soon and will tell you more about it. I have never tried the patch though I hear it doe provide relief for alot of CP sufferers.

Avatar f tn Discuss with your doctor the use of magnesium oil or a magnesium transdermal patch. Another route is to learn to give the injections yourself. Generic injectable magnesium is rather inexpensive.

Avatar f tn After this diagnois is confirmed you need to go to a physical rehab specialist who will, for starters, teach you some exercises that will relieve the pressure. A electrical tens device will sometimes relieve the pain, as well as a transdermal 5% Lidocaine patch, to be used for no more than 12 hours at a time. Eventually you may require a procedure known as a laminectomy. Keep well hydrated, avoid riding in a bouncy vehicle, resolve to always lift properly, and hopefully it will get better.
Avatar m tn You may be prescribed transdermal testosterone. It comes in 2 mg/day and 4 mg/day patches. It is very expensive. And a very controlled drug. You place the patch on your forearm or leg every evening. Be careful not to use more than one patch a day. Unfortunately, it will not assist in obtaining an erection, however it will definitely increase libido and desire for opposite sex companionship.
Avatar n tn My wife found a great doctor in Tampa Florida and for the first time in 15 years is out of pain. She uses the flat patch, 25's. She is getting off all meds. Avatar m tn Usually a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory is prescribed. Injectable steroids are used, however a transdermal lidocaine patch, worn no more than 12 hours a day should be considered and discussed with your physician. Sometimes transdermal cortisone cream will help. Avoid opiates. In any case don't wear a cervical collar. In the short run it relieves discomfort, however it causes loss of muscle tone.
