Avatar n tn In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
Avatar m tn In a pharmacokinetic study, administration of a single 8 mg dose of silodosin with the potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole (400 mg) resulted in a 3.8-fold increase in silodosin peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and a 3.2-fold increase in systemic exposure (AUC).
Avatar f tn The only sodium in my diet is from canned veggies and fruit. To lower the sodium from this source, I drain and rinse the veggies. Waiting on my blood tests for hormone levels, vitamin levels and other stuff. I also do not drink diet sodas, or use artificial sweeteners. My doctor, Friday, said that she thinks it might be neuropathy, due to the fact that I have some spots on the bottom of my left foot that I don't feel heat or pain.

Avatar n tn If you have had hypothyroidism for nearly two decades, it is fairly safe to say you have Hashimoto's. Especially if you started on a small dose and gradually worked your way up to 125mcg of HRT drugs. Hashimoto's is an auto-immune disease that pits your immune system against your thyroid, and eventually the immune system wins. You may have had thyroid antibody tests run in the past to confirm this. If you have been bumped up to 125mcg, your thyroid is slowly failing.
20922415 tn?1661860103 If pregnancy occurs, progesterone is produced in the placenta, and levels remain elevated throughout the pregnancy. The combination of high estrogen and progesterone levels suppresses further ovulation during pregnancy. Progesterone also encourages the growth of milk-producing glands in the breast during pregnancy. High progesterone levels are believed to be partly responsible for symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), such as breast tenderness, feeling bloated, and mood swings.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed 10mg of lisinopril, 5mg of felodipine daily and then a few visits to a very enthusiastic GP he has put me on 2x 95mg metoprolol succinate daily because I had a high heart rate in all my readings. My BP and heart rate now seems to be okay when I get it checked but this seems like a very high dose of metoprolol and I'm getting worried it's going to cause me some damage in the long term.
Avatar m tn but it is classified as a normal variant and probably insignificant..... Detection of right ventricular enlargement in adults by ECG criteria is often exceedingly difficult. This is because the left ventricle is normally so much larger and thicker than the right ventricle in adults that it masks (obstructs) even moderate increases in right ventricular chamber size. As a result, many patients with RVH won't be identified if assessment for chamber enlargement is limited to obtaining an ECG.
Avatar n tn I'm a 38 year old male with a 16 or so year history of "noticeable" PVCs. They weren't particuarly frequent (maybe a few per hour) but annoying. My doctor tried beta blockers (Toprol, Atenolol) and a calcium channel blocker (cardizem), none of which had any effect on my PVCs. ECGs and an echocardiogram were all normal. I eventually learned to live with them and for the most part ignore them. About a year ago I was experiencing some chest pain so I had a cardiac workup.

Avatar f tn thanks Research about the interaction of grapefruit juice with drugs suggests that compounds in grapefruit juice, called furanocoumarins (for example, bergamottin), may be responsible for the effects of grapefruit juice. Researchers believe that furanocoumarins block the enzymes in the intestines that normally break down many drugs. One glass of grapefruit juice could elicit the maximum blocking effect, and the effect may persist for longer than 24 hours.

1322157 tn?1279656681 , of the School of Nursing at the University of Rochester Medical Center, an expert on drug interactions, explains that grapefruit juice is one of the foods most likely to cause problems with drugs, because it is metabolized by the same enzyme in the liver that breaks down many drugs. The cytochrome P-450 3A4 enzyme breaks down grapefruit juice into useful components for body, just like it breaks down dozens of medications.
