Avatar n tn However, since the accidental discovery of an interaction between the calcium channel blocker, felodipine, with grapefruit juice,1 it has now become evident that grapefruit juice has the potential to alter the plasma concentrations of many medications when they are taken by mouth. In some cases, this may result in undesirable clinical effects of medications.
Avatar f tn In reviewing a number of PubMed articles it appears that an alternative might be Gallstone dissolution therapy using Ursodiol. The Physicians at the hospital could/would not tell me the size of the gallstones, nor did they know whether they were cholesterol based. I felt they were railroading me into surgery. I decided to check myself out of the hospital. I was able to get them to prescribe 30 days worth of Ursodiol.
Avatar n tn A new computer software developed by researchers at the University at Buffalo that simulates clot dissolution using the same techniques employed to analyze chemical reactors will provide information for physicians to know precisely how blood clots, and then tailor drug therapies and reduce patients risks The computer software is a program that provides a 'snapshot' of a blood clot undergoing dissolution, By simulating reaction and transport processes at and near the clot, the softwar
Avatar f tn Every radiologist that I have worked with requires a negative ultrasound within 90 days before administering Kinevac (CCK analogue). Further, gallstone dissolution was basically thrown out with the 1992 NIH concensus report on the management of gallbladder disease in everyone except those with an unexcepatably high surgical risk.
Avatar n tn One last question-- What type of specialist/s would I want to see for lithotripsy or for contact dissolution therapy (or any other treatment that isn't going to include removing the gallbladder)?
Avatar m tn I am asking as I am still young enough to safely carry out surgery a few months, or years later (should bile acid therapy fail) and given that the gallstones were not visible in the CT scan, potentially making them better candidates for bile acid dissolution. Moreover, I suspect my gallstones may have been the result of some previous fasting / rapid weight loss, which I will be careful to avoid in the future. Thank you in advance for your opinion on this.

Avatar n tn hello 5 weeks ago i woke up to find my left eye had what i can only describe has a frosty shadow over it i left it for two weeks thinking it was just floaters no change so went to the doctors who gave me a blood pressure test found it was high and put me on felodipine prolonged release tablets 2.
Avatar m tn These drugs may affect dissolution, absorption, and overall efficacy of some oral medications, but do not afffect HIV ab. blood tests. Drugs are my specialty, so I will let someone else answer your "window period question".
Avatar f tn I have two large gallstones, souvenirs of earlier years when I was careless of my diet. I've had three gall bladder attacks in the last three years and have ended up in Emergency (where the gallstones where discovered by ultrasound). I have been trying to research techniques for getting rid of gallstones.
Avatar n tn In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
214864 tn?1229715239 In its letter to Sandoz, the FDA states that, based on an inspection of a North Carolina plant in March 2008, Sandoz failed to appropriately validate the manufacturing process for Metoprolol Succinate (25 and 50 mg). Some lots were found to fail tests for content uniformity or dissolution. The FDA noted that Sandoz's practices represented a "moving target of quality." The FDA notes that Sandoz did not conduct timely investigations of lots that failed dissolution testing.
Avatar m tn Coadministration with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease inhibitors, boceprevir and telaprevir, may increase the plasma concentrations and pharmacologic effects of calcium channel blockers, especially the dihydropyridines (e.g., amlodipine, felodipine, nicardipine, nifedipine, nisoldipine). The mechanism involves inhibition of intestinal and hepatic CYP450 3A4, the isoenzyme primarily responsible for the metabolic clearance of most calcium channel blockers.
Avatar f tn I am active, never sick but use eyedrops for Glaucoma, very slightly elevated blood pressure for which I take a mild 5 mg. Felodipine tab and vytorin for slightly elevated cholestrol. My chol. ratio with meds is 2.3. The last week I have had a great slowing of my pulse. For three days it didn't get over 42 and on one day if got down as low as 37 and then 38 and stayed there all day. My blood pressure has been about the same as it always is....

Avatar n tn [17] Since gout is caused by crystals, it has been suggested that keeping very well hydrated and heating the affected joint in hot water (rather than cooling with ice) will promote the dissolution and clearance of the urate crytals.[18] Keeping the affected area elevated above the level of the heart also may help. Professional medical care is needed for long-term management of gout. I don't know if this helps any, I feel so bad for you. I wish there was something more I could do for you.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much. My diagnosis came as an ufortunate surprise to me and also ended in the dissolution of my marriage (it's how I found out my husband was cheating). I just wouldn't want to be the reason that someone I care for has to bare the same burden. Thank you so much for your advice.
Avatar f tn BUT I found out if you withhold information on a legal document knowingly then the document becomes null and void, meaning if the courts found out (if ur ex found out later and went to court or something) your dissolution of marriage would be null and your marriage reinstated, making any following engagements null and void instead and you would have to restart the process. My father is a state rep and also practice family law for many years, and thats how i found all this out.
Avatar f tn I have to appear in court to finish my dissolution of marriage, and was granted my motion for continuance until 3wks after my EDD. The judge wont grant another, and since it is an uncontested, self represented case I cannot have an attorney appear for me. It is 6hrs from where I reside and in the middle of the week so I will have to make the trip on my own with my daughter. Will they give me problems about having my newborn there with me?
Avatar f tn My understanding is that you can file and have him served now while pregnant. The dissolution might be handled first and then the parenting plan/custody arrangements would be determined after a paternity test when the baby is born. I encourage you to seek legal advice...an attorney or contact legal aid. In washington state where I am from you can do it all yourself...

Avatar n tn I'm a 38 year old male with a 16 or so year history of "noticeable" PVCs. They weren't particuarly frequent (maybe a few per hour) but annoying. My doctor tried beta blockers (Toprol, Atenolol) and a calcium channel blocker (cardizem), none of which had any effect on my PVCs. ECGs and an echocardiogram were all normal. I eventually learned to live with them and for the most part ignore them. About a year ago I was experiencing some chest pain so I had a cardiac workup.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed 10mg of lisinopril, 5mg of felodipine daily and then a few visits to a very enthusiastic GP he has put me on 2x 95mg metoprolol succinate daily because I had a high heart rate in all my readings. My BP and heart rate now seems to be okay when I get it checked but this seems like a very high dose of metoprolol and I'm getting worried it's going to cause me some damage in the long term.
Avatar m tn ve been on the meds for almost 8 yrs of which 3 yrs of that serving as a Drill Sgt. I can also deploy to Iraq or Afghanistan using Felodipine and was curious as to what harm would 61 days of Ranger School do.
