hello 5 weeks ago i woke up to find my left eye had what i can only describe has a frosty shadow over it i left it for two weeks thinking it was just floaters no change so went to the doctors who gave me a blood pressure test found it was high and put me on felodipine prolonged release tablets 2.
i think the atenolol is causing me some side effects and i have and allergies and it might be making it worse and also want to start taking allergy shots but heard its not a good idea while on beta blockers.
im looking for a list or names of a few calcium channel blockers that can also help my symptoms so i can talk to my dr about changing my meds..do calcium channel blockers have less side effects then beta blockers or are they safer?..
In June '08 I was sitting watching TV when my left side from my head down to my leg became stiff and numb. Went to the ER and checked by 5 neuronogists, had scans, MRI & other tests. Their consensus was a brain event in the rt. thalemus. For 2 & 1/2 yrs I was living with a 5 out of 10 sensation but last Dec. '10 as I was having dinner, the sensation became worse like an 8 out of 10 and I'm having increased trouble moving my whole left side.
I am active, never sick but use eyedrops for Glaucoma, very slightly elevated blood pressure for which I take a mild 5 mg. Felodipine tab and vytorin for slightly elevated cholestrol. My chol. ratio with meds is 2.3.
The last week I have had a great slowing of my pulse. For three days it didn't get over 42 and on one day if got down as low as 37 and then 38 and stayed there all day. My blood pressure has been about the same as it always is....
Try not to get too worried it could be that when you cough its pulling/stretching. The same would happen to me when I'd cough or sneeze. It really helped to bend over a little when I knew I had to cough or sneeze.

Being sick with a cold and cough while pregnant is the worst. Any sickness and pregnant *****! It takes so much longer to get better! I have a stuffy/runny nose and a horrible cough that will not go away! What are some over the counter medicine that you moms have taken to get rid of a cough? Anything? It is more frequent in the evening and is the worst when I lay down in bed at night and then I cough for about the first half hour. It is quite annoying and it is year round. I do not remember ever having this problem before I started taking it and never really associated it with the atenolol until I heard someone at work mention the same problem. I cannot decide if I should ask for a new med or just put up with it because it does work well for my blood pressure.
After 2 weeks, I got ear pain, headache and then dry cough. The weather is also very cold here. However , this cough was continuing and then it moved from dry cough to cold cough and still having. If you have been blowing your nose too hard you may have ruptured a blood vessel in your nose.
If the blood was mixed with green or yellow mucus, it is likely you have a sinus infection.

As you have now been coughing for 4 weeks, I would suggest you get examined by your doctor.
Make sure you drink plent of fluids, avoid milk products at the moment because it encourages mucus production.
what color is your phlegm? could be bronchitis? im surprised they didnt give you the "zpack" anyway.... for the cold and cough .... im always given that for a cold and cough esp. if it doesnt go away...
Looks like your symptoms of sore throat and runny nose have progressed with resultant addition of cough and sputum. It could have started as a cold and progressed to a throat infection. This if left untreated could progress to tonsillitis. The commonest pathogen (agent) causing throat infections is a group A Streptococcus bacteria. Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections.
