6711838 tn?1405009844 So we have not told our family and friends we are expecting until we know everything is ok. A major part of my job is taking X-rays and scrubbing in for surgical procedures. I have done my best to pawn off X-rays and giving away surgeries I really want to do but I don’t want my coworkers to get suspicious so I sometimes have to do these things. I make sure to wear as much protective great as possible but I'm concerned about what it could do to our baby.
Avatar f tn Yeah x-rays to your extremities are typically safe its when you need abdomen, spine, pelvis x-rays that you need to be concerned. As baby_love2014 mentioned you are out of your first trimester so thats good.
Avatar m tn Went in to make sure nothing was wrong, and they took 3 X-rays. One cervical spine, 2 lumbar views. I stood against a white background and she pointed the X-ray machine to the area, but the machine was about 2-3 feet away. She did not place a lead shield on me while conducting these X-rays. I'm very concerned I was exposed to too much radiation?! Plus I am breastfeeding, and my breasts were never covered.
Avatar m tn I got my reStor implants over two years ago, and never received any warnings about X-rays and such. Since then, I have had X-rays, an MRI, and gone through lots of airport scanners, and my opthalmologist says my eyes and lenses are fine.
Avatar n tn 1 in scale. The x-ray beam sprays out like a triangle, the rays becoming wider the further apart from the patient. This means, when reading an image that the exact size of something can be difficult to determine. Imagine placing a penny coin on a patient's chest and another coin on his back. When an x-ray is taken the coins will have two different diameters. Secondly, the technique used by the technician may vary considerably. The technique has a lot to do with the clarity of the image.
Avatar m tn 1 mSv) is about the same as 10 days of natural background radiation that we are all exposed to as part of our daily living. The amount of radiation from 1 adult spine x-ray (1.5 mSv) is about the same as 6 months of natural background radiation that we are all exposed to as part of our daily living. The amount of radiation from 1 adult dental x-ray (0.005 mSv) is about the same as 1 day of natural background radiation that we are all exposed to as part of our daily living. Source: https://www.
Avatar f tn X-rays should be avoided whenever necessary. Many hospitals insist on a full set of chest x-rays simply to cover themselves in the event of legal difficulties. Ask about the reason for every x-ray and don't be afraid to refuse unnecessary x-rays and to request a lead shield for the parts of your body not being filmed.
Avatar f tn That means i have to take a lot of x-rays on patients. My dentist had me stay away from taking x-rays for the first trimester, but now he thinks i am past the risky stage in my pregnancy and i should start taking x-rays again. What do you think?
Avatar m tn The doctor said our child needs about 4-5 X-rays over the next year. In the last 10 years she has had 2 dental panoramic, bite wings, 2 shoulder X-rays. Should I be concerned about radiation at this point?
Avatar n tn I doubt seriously that a dentist could intentionally expose you to a dose of x-rays that would make you sick. First of all, the films would come out black from the exposure, making them useless. There also are limits to the settings on the machines, and they are always set to the normal settings for the average adult or child. There are some adjustments you can make, but they are minimal. The machines are also checked on a regular basis by the local radiation regulatory agency.
Avatar n tn x-rays are a form of radiation (gamma i believe) it is NOT safe to have that measurement of radiation enter her body if she is pregnant. Last time i had an x-ray done (of ankle and shoulder) i told the nurse that i was not sure about pregnancy and they had me perform a urine pregnancy test before they would even do the x-rays.
Avatar f tn s not how i read it, it says to me that X-Rays are linked to increased ALL, most of the news agencies that ran with the story also said this. From the study - "Specifically, the researchers found that children with acute lymphoid leukemia (ALL) had almost twice the chance of having been exposed to three or more X-rays compared with children who did not have leukemia" Am i reading this wrong?

407812 tn?1211307057 (I also have anxiety disorder) the first thing I feel like doing is going to the ER, but I have been there already twice last month is the same week for this head pain, and they did CT scans, cat scans, EEG test, chest x-rays, head x-rays, blood tests, you name it. Every single test and scan, and x-ray they have done to me came out negative. They all say there is nothing wrong with my head, sinuses (even though they are constantly clogged and I can't breathe through my nose), or heart.
Avatar m tn ve just been to the dentist for a regular cleaning and before I could even see the dentist I was brought over to the panoramic x ray where I put my head inside and she took about 3 x rays. then I was brought over to the chair where I had 18 more x rays. then the dentist came over said 2 words to me and then I got a cleaning by the hygienist. Now I'm home and I did some research to find out that dental x rays can be really bad for you and they do it just for the money.
