Common Questions and Answers about Fear of vomiting in children

fear

Avatar n tn Yes, these are all symptoms of type I diabetes in children. My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
Avatar n tn There is another condition, cyclic vomiting, which is sometimes considered in children whose vomiting has gone on for a significant period of time with no other diagnostic explanation. This unusual condition has no known cause, and no clear treatment. It can be seen in adults but is most common in kids aged three to seven years old. It is probably more common than some may think, occurring in one out of fifty children with prolonged vomiting, and the symptoms can be quite profound.

Avatar n tn ULTRASOUND can show gallstones, but it often miss them, so CT would be needed, or HIDA SCAN which shows gallbladder function. Yellow stool can indicate lack of bile in the stool, which is due to bile flow blockage somewhere in the biliary tree (stone, stenosis). Lack of bile in intestine causes that fats are not absorbed, and this causes diarrhea. Vomiting is often in gallblader/biliary duct disorders. NOTE: BRAT diet is NO longer recommended in diarrhea.
Avatar f tn Time does it very often something triggers it in the begining but many children are afraid of the dark, best to let them have a hall light on ,with the bedroom door open,I dont think it is something that you can help them get over, as they get older it dissipates , I was a child like this , Trauma triggered it and it contiunued through my childhood, but it went once I became a teen,I still like the bedroom door open but I am not afraid of the dark...
Avatar n tn My 20 month old grandson has had vomiting for almost a week. He has had a history of reflux, but this past week he has had some projectile vomiting, no fever, and just can't keep anything down. What should we do? No fever, his pedi thinks it's a virus and lasts 7 to 10 days.
Avatar f tn For your son's weight and height he is normal for his age which is good. At this age children do become 'picky' eaters. Children learn by example. If they see you eat healthy, they will eventually eat healthier. For example if the rest of the family eats salads, vegetables, and fruit and he see it every day, eventually he may try some. There is hope in the future. Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little.
524114 tn?1212292152 The lady in the story reminds me of your son. She has to face her fears in order to help someone else. Maybe he should visit with some children who are positive and adventurous. I am always amazed at children who have disabilities or severe illnesses (Cancer for example) and somehow they end up encouraging me. It's probably a good idea to go to a therapist. He/she may be able to dig into any situations that may make him feel this way, and give you some suggestions to deal with it.
Avatar f tn Do you know of any success rates with this phobia in children? Is this a common fear in kids? I am really concerned about her future and her level of anxiety. Thank you!
Avatar n tn We went out with one of our friends in their car. They have 2 children (aged 7 and 5). When we entered the car my daughter was so excited...but few mins later she started crying badly to go back home...nothing was sooting her that time..not even her father was able to control her. still we continued for the beach area..after we got down from the car she became calm and stated playing with the kids (running and racing)...again after 15 mins we got in the car to go back home and she was the same.
Avatar f tn My 4 year old son is extremely afraid of being alone. He will not be in any room without myself or my husband. If left alone he screams for mom and cries uncontrollably. If I go to the bathroom, he follows me. If I take a shower he sits right outside of the tub. When he says he is scared, I ask him what he is afraid of and he replies "nothing, I am just afraid". I am uncertain what to do and would appreciate any advice given. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else in the Household got a fear of dying she may have overheard would she have seen very scary stuff on TV sometimes Parents forget Children can be afriad if they watch scary grown up movies.Has a Family member or pet died recently that has made her anxious,Talking to someone sounds like a good thing,It does sound as if they are doing too much about it and maybe going the other way, and playing it down would work better, she is getting a lot of attention over the Issue.
Avatar f tn maybe puree his food if its hard for him to eat ,the fever should go down soon.,if he is still vomiting in 24 hours I think you should take him back to see the doctor ,Good luck hope hes better soon .
Avatar f tn Wow! I have to say how nice it is to know you are not a freak and that other people have this horrible problem. I can go back as far as 7 years of age and remember having anxiety, It's so sad to think a child would have to deal with such a thing. I now take Lexapro and feel alot better. Not 100% but I guess as good as it's gonna get for me. I recently noticed alot of anxiety signs in my 9 year old daughter. It's apparently something you can pass on to your children.
17213106 tn?1456525991 I have serious emetophobia and all of the above list nausea and vomiting as a side effect. What am I supposed to do?? I am never sick, I mean I never catch the common cold (most likely due to my phobia)so being sick for a month is really taking a toll on me. Does anyone have any suggestions? What's a girl to do?
Avatar m tn I feel like I should test to know my status for definite and to certainly ease my concerns but I think the fear of it being positive will always be there. The vomiting and diarrhea are really what worried me despite the low risk, both the timing of that and then the symptoms I've had since then. I did see Dr Handsfield say once that vomiting and diarrhea weren't symptoms of ARS which reassured me slightly but again, other places say differently.
Avatar f tn t try to do them all in one day. Stay on top of your blood counts. Ask for medication is you get nausea, vomiting, itching or rash. Let your doc know all of your side effects.
Avatar m tn Oh my goodness, the fear of vomiting i have is that bad. I constantly try and evaluate the tiniest sickness i have and think i am going to vomit. Every time especially if i am in public or at work i just think of utterly embarrassing myself by freaking out so much and vomiting everywhere. Everyone looking at me, having no where to hide, getting it in my hair, choking on it. Dry reaching is the worst possible feeling i could ever imagine... Feeling like your eyeballs are about to pop...
Avatar f tn It was just from vomiting so much nothing serious thank god thank you ladies for all the advice doc gave me some meds for the vomiting and a few bags of fluid baby boy is doing good should get to go home soon

Avatar f tn Two summers ago I painted a lot of rooms and hallways in my house. The walls were in bad shape so I used a lot of spackle and did a lot of sanding. For the most part I wore a dust mask. I just read that the spackle I used contains silica which is a known carcinogen (lung cancer).
1984945 tn?1326556865 Some medications can cause children to have acid reflux. Has he ever been checked for acid reflux?
Avatar n tn We want to know what to do about our 6 year old daughters fear of the dark. She has been afraid of the dark for a long time but it has gotten worse lately. We just moved to a new home. She has her own room but it is a jack and jill meaning that there is a bathroom and closet between her room and her twin brothers room.
Avatar n tn It will probably pass its not unusual for children to be afraid of nature, especially wind, and storms , make less of it sometimes the more one makes of an issue the more it becomes, as its getting attention.
