Common Questions and Answers about Fear of thunderstorms

fear

Avatar f tn I believe I have an all around fear of loud noises, as well as storms. I have no clue why I am afraid, which frustrates me. Also, it can be very embarassing when I hear thunder in public and my hands reflexively jump to cover my ears. A medication that could help calm me, even a little, in my anxiety related situations would be a literal godsend.
5967922 tn?1377546960 I worked for a vet for 8 years and took care of countless dogs with all sorts of problems, one of them being fear of noises. When we had thunderstorms, the first thing that got done was go to the kennel and see who was freaking out (thunder was LOUD in the kennel), then that dog or dogs would receive a dose of acepromazine by injection. Of course, you can't do this, but you can ask your vet for a sedative in pill-form that will calm him.
Avatar m tn well storms should be avoided if in water so I agree get out of the pool , has he been frightened at any time by it ?
168348 tn?1379357075 It is common at this time of year to also see pets respond to the noise from fireworks just like the thunderstorms. Though, this is not always the case. There are three treatment courses that can be used to try and help your pet endure the thunderstorms. 1. Desensitization: This is done by exposing your pet to loud noises that mimic the thunder. There are CDs available with storm tracks.
Avatar f tn t give your dog human medication unless your vet approves of it and you know the proper dosage. I would suggest giving her benadryl (1 mg per lb of body weight) or trying a thunder shirt. Your vet can give you a sedative that you can try if you know about a thunderstorm beforehand.

Avatar m tn She is extremely afraid of noises (thunderstorms, etc). There was a worker downstairs working on our bathroom and he wsa poudning right before this happened. Do you think it is just a fear thing, or something more serious. Her legs don't appear injured, she is eating, drinking, and going to bathroom normally.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm in the uk and have suffered with anxiety and a phobia of thunderstorms, I take fluoxetine and gabapentin, this anxiety is now out of hand as it's just been said that we are due for severe thunderstorms in two days time.
Avatar m tn Last summer we had few bad thunderstorms so I can see where some of he fear may come from, asking every night seems extreme to me. The second situation revolves around the fact that on Saturday nights we let our daughter watch a movie in her room when she goes to bed. Starting on Saturday morning up until she goes to bed that night, I must hear the question “Is it Saturday Daddy” or “Is it Still Saturday, Daddy”, a hundred times. Is this type of behavior normal?
Avatar f tn All you have to do is pray! We have about three every month here. Just bad thunderstorms, but still scary.
Avatar m tn Fear of driving off the road. Fear of losing love. Fear of failure.
Avatar n tn Them beds would be great !!, may have to try that tonight !!
Avatar f tn I am pretty loyal to Imitrex. But always at max dose of 200mg. There is a new drug from makers of Imitrex called Trixamet. It is Imitrex plus an NSAID. I got a sample from my doc. I loved it. Trixamet is supposed to be covered by any insurance that takes Imitrex, but mine doesn't cover it. Maybe yours will. Hope I helped.
Avatar m tn Sinus infections, allergies, pollen, breathing in some chemicals, and acid reflux can also trigger attacks. Physical exercise; some medicines; bad weather, such as thunderstorms or high humidity; breathing in cold, dry air; and some foods, food additives, and fragrances can also trigger an asthma attack.
Avatar f tn Anyone else? Thunderstorms make my little girl move soo much! It makes me nauseous! Ugh! I love feeling her move though!
Avatar n tn If a dog is afraid of thunderstorms, for example, he or she will either go ballistic or catatonic. If your cat is afraid of loud noises, you would have seen some obvious sign, either that or hiding under the bed. You say she is paranoid, what cues do you get from kitty that she is frightened?
Avatar f tn WELL I DONT THINK MY BABE LIKES THUNDERSTORMS. LAST NIGHT WE HAD A REAL BAD STORM AND EVERY TIME THE THUNDER GOT REALLY LOUD MY STOMACH GOT REALLY HARD THEN I WOULD FEEL LITTLE PUNCHES OR KICKS LOL. I GUESS BABE IS SLEEP NOW CAUSE I HAVEN'T FELT HE OR SHE THIS MORNING LOL. ANYBODY HAVE THIS PROBLEM?
595125 tn?1219834270 What you descrive is a panic attack when you have this intense fear, then you become afraid of the fear and so on until it becomes a vicious circle. You came to the right place! You should browze a lot of these threads as you will quickly see that you are not alone in your fear and anxiety and you will perhaps learn from how others have coped with it.
1530342 tn?1405016490 Their constant price increases have caused me considerable mental anguish. I now have a fear of parking too far away from their front door for fear there will be a price increase before I can get in the store and do my shopping. I now have been thrown out of the grocery store on several occasions for trying to negotiate my grocery bill with a checker. I've also been asked to leave by their management for sampling their products before I decide to invest in them...I think I have a good case.
377493 tn?1356502149 s it began to get out of control such as thunderstorms in the winter, etc Where I live now which is in the same area there have been two consecutive summers with tornadoes (which never happens in the state I live in) and migratory patterns of birds have been disrupted. Climate change has affected people around the world some in minor ways, some in more serious ways. Its a shame that there is research on both sides that has been discredited after as the issue should be approached rationally.
Avatar f tn Here is a remake of my game on the four seasons Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rules: 1. For Spring, you would list the typical things that can be done or seen for that season 2. Try not to repeat any things listed before (as those that are said twice won't be counted) 3.
Avatar f tn So one guy that worked with my husband for like two days came up to him and told him that his wife was going to have her baby next week because of the thunderstorms. The guy did not know my husband or know im pregnant. Well it's next week now and we checked the weather and it's supposed to storm all week. Everyone has been saying that I'm going to have her early. They have said it my whole pregnancy. But hopefully the guy is right because I'm beyond ready for her to be here.
Avatar n tn We had some strong/rainy weather after weeks of dry heat as well! I'm due in November, so it really made me long for summer to be over and fall to come!
Avatar m tn I've read many posts on this forum and have found that most of the responses are supported with very reliable information, so I thought that this would be as good a place as any on the net to ask this question. I was at a party with some friends and accidentally used a toothpick that was not my own. I had it in my mouth for <5 seconds but do recall pressing down pretty hard between my teeth and gums near my molars.
