Common Questions and Answers about Fear of quiet rooms

fear

Avatar n tn My 3.5 year old granddaughter is afraid of entering rooms with a lot of people (not strangers), she will hide her eyes and not socialize at all. She also hides when she thinks someone will call attention to her (i.e. a party had a pinata, she hid because she didn't want anyone to clap when she tried to break it). She also has just recently stopped kissing (acknowledging) her grandfathers and uncles. She can totally ignore them and not look at them.
Avatar f tn Two summers ago I painted a lot of rooms and hallways in my house. The walls were in bad shape so I used a lot of spackle and did a lot of sanding. For the most part I wore a dust mask. I just read that the spackle I used contains silica which is a known carcinogen (lung cancer).

1128483 tn?1277340286 ll start to sleep a little better first, every time she wakes up she wakes our son up regardless of what room of the house they are in. So how have some of you dealt with this? Having her in our room is not an option for both space and personal preference.
11970398 tn?1443134602 I have read that when it's light outside, keep your rooms bright, open windows and make noises, don't be quiet because baby is sleeping. Then during the night, be quiet and keep the rooms darker. That helps them learn waking and sleeping. I started it with my daughter when she was born (she's a week old now) and it's helped a lot. She will wake up for an hour or 2 after feedings during the day, and at night, she goes right back to sleep.
Avatar f tn I deliver at a birthing center that has only private rooms and also doesn't separate delivery from recovery so I go from admission to discharge all in the same room. The major hospital in the same city that most women deliver at has shared postpartum rooms, which are on a different floor from labor and delivery so those new moms have to move.
Avatar f tn Hi, so say my sister who is older and her boyfriend have sex a lot in her room in my house, i absolutely freak out because i feel whatever either of them touch right after they have sex will be contaminated with sperm. We do share a bathroom between our rooms, and that is the one we both primarily use. But i am scared to use it and clean it ridiculously because i feel like if i touch something that either of them have touched and i go to the bathroom or something that i could get pregnant.
Avatar f tn I went to the emergency rooms you name it. Heres the key welcome anxiety. Dont fear it just repeat to yourself in time it will pass. Stay abstinent from all drugs and alcohol they cause it trust me not the route you want to go. the first time you use drinking or zanax to cure these problems you will have instant relief. its actually the viscious cycle most anxiety people have to deal with. Face your fears who cares if you die its better than being a drunk.
Avatar f tn If this turns into a real problem where this persons sleep was being disturbed because of this fear, then I would suggest some time with a therapist to get to the root of the problem.
Avatar f tn Hook, and others supplying their services) to constantly quiet the fears of those of us anxiety ridden folks and offering logical, scientific based information about STDs.
5591135 tn?1380168056 I know I have been really quiet these days. I am working thru a lot things mentally, emotionally, spiritually & physically. I want you all to know that one day I hope to be me again. I am getting all the notes you leave me and messages and I am really sorry if I have not responded. I am not trying to be rude. For you all here are a special part of my life and heart. I come here and linger....sometimes wanting to say something...sometimes cant think of what to say.
Avatar m tn Entering this holiday season, I hope all are happy and healthy. The board is quiet, and I know that everyone has about 1000 things happening all at once..... but for crying out loud! Somebody say something! Anything! (Sorry to sound so desperate....

Avatar f tn I will have two babies under the age one, and thought I had to buy the two monitor set (since our babies have their own rooms). But then I started thinking do I have to switch bsck and forth between one and two? Or will it pick up on both so I can sleep and not have to pick which monitor to listen to? Lol color me clueless.
669230 tn?1252149194 My husband talks, snores, fights and jumps around like a fish out of water when he sleeps. My body is in enough pain and since I am hypo with hashimotos, I have a hard time sleeping myself. So it's important for me to try to catch a few hrs. of sleep here and there. I finally got fed up and moved into another room after my husband accidently hit me in my throat area after thyroid surgery. It was either move to another room, or get rid of my hubby. I've been married for 32 yrs.
Avatar m tn I have been in and out of the rooms for a few years - everyone talks about "The Promises" Don't know why I can't grasp/embrace AA - I know I haven't given it my full efforts - I know I can't do it alone. I hate alcohol.
Avatar m tn I don't think it will actually harm him to stand when going #2, though it doesn't seem to be the healthiest way (since squatting is seen as more healthy than sitting, one would assume that the further a person gets from squatting the more far from what nature intended). If he were my kid, though, I would want to help him get over the irrational fear that is causing him to stand up in the first place. My son is about to be 7 and he is afraid of ghosts.
1679858 tn?1346765181 Does anyone know if steam rooms are a bad idea when you have Chiari? I had a migraine following my last two steams, but I also had a bad virus. Not sure I will return any time soon! Just wondering though.
506490 tn?1213431764 I was very active as a kid and now I have developed a fear of exercising. I'm afraid of the feelings that I might get along with like others have said, my heart beating really fast. I start to feel like I am panicking. what would normally be discomfort but feel good and healthy, and maybe even motivating, registers as pain for me. And I am afraid of feeling any pain, of any kind.
Avatar f tn I grew up with 2 older brothers and we were roughly the same years apart. Summer can be brutal and they may be ganging up on you. (WE THOUGHT IT WAS FUN) We had scheduled "alone" time where each of us had to go in our rooms or outside, but we could not communicate with each other.... every day 1 hour We also had actve time where we had to be outside or excercising. and quiet time, etc.
595125 tn?1219834270 What you descrive is a panic attack when you have this intense fear, then you become afraid of the fear and so on until it becomes a vicious circle. You came to the right place! You should browze a lot of these threads as you will quickly see that you are not alone in your fear and anxiety and you will perhaps learn from how others have coped with it.
893290 tn?1241413167 I been suffering from strange fear at night time, fears of loneliness and scare of dying i have little rest during day time but when th elate night falls around 1 am ii start fearing for my life thinking im going to die in different ways why do i feel like this???
Avatar n tn My main objective is to give you some insight into your chronic phobia of the dark. The fear of the dark is a very valid phobia to begin with and could branch into many other more specific phobias, such as nyctophobia, the fear of the darkness and the main one I wish to talk to you about now. Nyctophobia is any fear of darkness and it does not have to be chronic. It is usually caused by a magnification of the brain's natural perception of what could happen in a dark environment.
