I am going to call my RE and make an appointment to meet with the doctors from Iowa City. I am a little nervous about doing IVF. I have a fear of needles for one and second, I am just afraid that it won't work. My DH and I want a child so badly. I would just like to hear some of your stories and if you have any words of encouragement, it would be greatly appreciated.

, cups, paper, sticks, trash, etc, but I have fear of it being a needle. The funny thing is, most of the time, I never review the photos; I guess just knowing I have them brings me relief. Before, I was even using a picker to pick things up off the ground, which I would store in the trunk of my car; however, I've pretty much gotten past that. It has come to the point that my condition is impacting my relationship.

There has never been anyone contract HIV from a tattoo. Tattoo needles are solid needles.

Doctors dont re used needles why would they? They cost nothing not to mention they are trained not to do so. Its all in your head quite frankley. Even if they did, as zam said, HIV once exposed to air then its very unlikley to pose any risk, but the risk is nothing more than in your vivid imagination than reality.

I was just wondering if any one could help me with a fear that all of my children seem to have. A fear of getting shots/needles. How do I help them get over this? What can they do to ease this fear? Hi,Recently I had my blood drawn for medical tests related to sugar levels, also had some injections ,both times failed to notice the quality of needles.Im little bit afraid.is there any risk when normal injection is taken,in the arm or in the butt.

Hi, this morning I went to the hospital for the rabies vaccine, I was sitting on the chair waiting for the nurse to give me 2 dose shot, then I noticed there was a container on the floor with used needles in it, and at the last dose, I saw the nurse accidentally slightly contact the container with some sound, and I can't stop thinking what if the needles come out of the container and get in touch with me, if there a risk?

I just read your journal and see she is using needles. They get addicted to their rigs also. This will be rough so lean on us okay? We are open here 24 hrs a day....

Well hun if you are pregnant you have to get over that fear because the needles are coming lol. It will be best for you to have the blood work done because false negatives are more common than false positives. The other possibility for these type of results would be a chemical pregnancy so go get check, best of luck.

Again, IV drug needles are different than blood draws. That you had a blood draw, then an HIV test because of fear of the blood draw and then renewed needle fear from the hiv test? Sounds like classic anxiety. I'd work on the anxiety. Have you posted about this on the site before now?

The only thing I can think to suggest is to try looking for a psychologist that specialises in phobias, which is what this would come under. Its actually really quite a common phobia and behavioral therapists may even deal with this too. As i'm sure you realise, your not in a possition to let this one go, its a now thing! Aside from some adversion therapy, I suppose some talk therapy could help you out, but I think it would be a waste of money. You said you also have a fear of bloodwork. Most of us with anxiety issues have fears when we go for any kind of test, be it bloodwork or an X-ray or CT......so this is also very common. You said you just had some blood work done and you obviously survived, but now you have a fear that they used a dirty needle.

Anxiety can manifest itself in certain ways, in my opinion. Yours is your fear of cancer. My original source of anxiety started with my heart, but if I thought I had something, then I had it. You name it, I must have been suffering from it...it is a hard pattern of thinking to get out of sometimes. Throughout all of this, have you had access to a therapist to talk this over? In my opinion, the best thing you can do to get over this is accept it and confront it.
