Ok I'm a 15 year old male who has had many shots in life. Not in recent past though. My cousins always talked about fear of needles, and until that time I didn't mind them. Now they are the scariest things. At least I think remember I haven't had a shot recently except for at the dentist. Hi, this morning I went to the hospital for the rabies vaccine, I was sitting on the chair waiting for the nurse to give me 2 dose shot, then I noticed there was a container on the floor with used needles in it, and at the last dose, I saw the nurse accidentally slightly contact the container with some sound, and I can't stop thinking what if the needles come out of the container and get in touch with me, if there a risk?

Again, IV drug needles are different than blood draws. That you had a blood draw, then an HIV test because of fear of the blood draw and then renewed needle fear from the hiv test? Sounds like classic anxiety. I'd work on the anxiety. Have you posted about this on the site before now?

There has never been anyone contract HIV from a tattoo. Tattoo needles are solid needles.

then I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about. Tattoo and piercing businesses are under a lot of scrutiny by the Dept. of Health. They would not be in business long if they weren't taking every precaution for the publics safety. These people make their living with their "art" and they aren't stupid nor are they evil. You can go talk with the person who did your pierceing and tell them you are nervous about HIV. That may help calm you down, but I doubt it.

My 37 year old son has the same problem. It's so bad that he passes out at the thought of blood or needles. I have suggested therapy to him. I started a post named "anxiety and cardiac arrest" go read that and it will tell you his circumstances.

You have a terrible fear for needles or needle phobia called Trypanophobia. Cognitive behavior therapy and systemic desensitization towards the object you fear will have to be carried out by a psychotherapist for curing this. Take care!

Talk therapy may help with your fear of needles as this is something you will be unable to avoid in the future. A psychiatrist may recommend a small anti anxiety medication before a procedure, such as many people take before surgery or dental work. Although I think if you could talk about your fear and maybe even confront it by working with needles (slowly) and alleviating some of the fear. As far as scary movies, that is very normal.

Doctors dont re used needles why would they? They cost nothing not to mention they are trained not to do so. Its all in your head quite frankley. Even if they did, as zam said, HIV once exposed to air then its very unlikley to pose any risk, but the risk is nothing more than in your vivid imagination than reality.

I have been taking medication and have seen both a psychiatist and psycologist. My OCD started with fear of acquiring HIV from blood left on inanimated objects like door knobs, door handles, elevator buttons etc and then accidently picking my nose or rubbing my eyes. I went for multiple HIV tests and all were negative.Now the fear is mostly about Hep C and not HIV. About 2 weeks ago as I was going down the subway station I opened the door to the subway and feel something wet on my thumb.

Hi,Recently I had my blood drawn for medical tests related to sugar levels, also had some injections ,both times failed to notice the quality of needles.Im little bit afraid.is there any risk when normal injection is taken,in the arm or in the butt.

i have a phobia of hiv/aids which i think has been brought on by OCD because i never used 2 be scared of it, im in constant fear of blood and people throwing it at me on the street and also people always having blood on them. i know this all sounds really stupid but i just cant help it. it used to be finding plasters and needles everywhere but that stopped and now this has started. so if anyone can help me it would really be much appriciated.

Go back in time in your head and remember. You might have bad experiences, clear those for yourself, and then heal yourself. There is no way you are going to get pregnant using a restroom. How old are you and how long has this fear of pregnancy been going on? Do you see a psychologist?

What you descrive is a panic attack when you have this intense fear, then you become afraid of the fear and so on until it becomes a vicious circle. You came to the right place! You should browze a lot of these threads as you will quickly see that you are not alone in your fear and anxiety and you will perhaps learn from how others have coped with it.
