Fear of needles injection

Common Questions and Answers about Fear of needles injection

fear

Avatar m tn m from a developing country and hence not sure about the quality of needles used.if a normal injection is taken does it draw blood inside the needle, please clarify.
Avatar m tn This sounds to me like a response to someone who wants help with a fear of needles, and not like a question that begs for a response? Right?
Avatar f tn ( I have a bit of a fear of needles. She prepared the needle, syringe and b12 in another room and then came into the room where I was lying down. Normally I would watch and check to make sure needle and syringe are new but in this situation I couldn't. I am making an assumption that even if the syringe and needle were not new the risk would be non existent as the injection was into a muscle and bit a vein.
Avatar n tn Roche has a guide to self injection of Pegasys that is helpful. I did my first injection in front of the computer screen following step-by-step. Seems complicated at first, but after a few times, it is not a big deal. Also there is a video here that shows how to do it. http://www.hepfi.org/nnac/pdf/selfinject.pdf http://www.pegasys.com/injecting/how-to-inject-pegasys.aspx btw - I had hep c for all of my married life.
Avatar f tn Again, IV drug needles are different than blood draws. That you had a blood draw, then an HIV test because of fear of the blood draw and then renewed needle fear from the hiv test? Sounds like classic anxiety. I'd work on the anxiety. Have you posted about this on the site before now?
Avatar m tn Hmmmmm......very familiar writing style and familiar situation. You know it's against the rules to create a second nickname?
Avatar f tn , cups, paper, sticks, trash, etc, but I have fear of it being a needle. The funny thing is, most of the time, I never review the photos; I guess just knowing I have them brings me relief. Before, I was even using a picker to pick things up off the ground, which I would store in the trunk of my car; however, I've pretty much gotten past that. It has come to the point that my condition is impacting my relationship.
Avatar m tn But after the results one thing struck me, that, while I was giving my blood sample for test, the pathologist (from a reputed health center) took a needle from a container where around 8-10 needles and blood sampling bottles were kept. He took one of those needles and performed venipuncture. Now, I fear that what if the needle was not new and he took my blood sample using that needle? Because the needles were already out of the packet and were kept in that container. What to do? P.S.
Avatar m tn Recently I had contacted Flu and went to a local clinic in Delhi. The nurse gave me injection and ever since then i am surrounded with this fear whether he might have given me injection with an used needle as i noticed that the clinic was not clean and several needles were lying there. I did not notice the nurse tearing a fresh needle to give me medicine. So i would like to know that in case the nurse used a dirty needle on me what are the chances of me acquiring HIV?
Avatar m tn Do you have a fear of needles? That could be why you are fainting. My husband is scared of needles only when they are getting put into him but he don't pass out but he has come very close to it. I would talk to your doctor to see what he/she thinks.
Avatar n tn Thanks, mate. Your solution sounds pretty hard but I think I could give it a try. Though my biggest fear is not the fear that I'm having, but the fear that I'll have after any medical treatment(injection, etc.) in the future. But I guess I can try not to think about it..
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. The doctor used a new needle, not previously used in another person. Hence there is no risk you could have acquired HIV. It is pointless to speculate on nonsensical "what if" questions. Since a new needle was used, why worry about whether it could have been a risk otherwise? I am skeptical that WHO says that 9% of all HIV infections in South Asia occurred by use of used needles in doctors' offices.
Avatar f tn ) I would assume that awareness is such that even those hospitals would not risk reusing needles. And an IM injection is not an IV injection and it is IV injections of shared needles between drug addicts that is known to be a risk for HIV, not intramuscular injections. I would not worry.
Avatar m tn i felt a sharp pain on my upper back and when i checked with help of someone else, i could see a red bump with a bit of pus there. when i checked with a doctor, he told me that it is folliculitis and could have come due to heat. 2 weeks after i got a severe fever and throat pain. i am really scared now that the lady would have tried to infect me with something as i haven't opted for extra and provided tips. very tensed and not able to focus on anything.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for your responses! For someone who has a fear of all medicines, needles, doctors etc , I have been forced to come a long way. The fear of the unknown is most always worse than the reality. I'm so happy to hear that those of you did this and cleared the virus, and those who are still in tx are hanging in there. You are very inspiring and awesome to come and share your experiences with everyone.
2022648 tn?1328711666 making injections is so easily, i know do them with both arms and even without looking at the site of injection...of course i dont need to pay attention because if i get a vein it is even better with my treatment but anyway just follow instructions here http://www.youtube.com/watch?
Avatar f tn I myself have a fear of needles, this is my second pregnancy.
Avatar m tn There has never been anyone contract HIV from a tattoo. Tattoo needles are solid needles.
Avatar f tn m still very scared that the nurse accidentally reused an infected needle, since the needles were all already taken out of the packaging and they were all (about 30-40 of them) placed on the table. I'm not sure, but I think they had caps on, but they definitely weren't packaged. Don't know if this matters, but the needle she used was like this + blood collection tube: http://www.gpsupplies.com/images/Products/L_flashback_blood_collection_needles_21g.
Avatar m tn So I want to know, under the theoretical conditions, if the nurse reuses the needle and the needle tube and then gives the patient an intramuscular injection, is there a risk of infection? What is the principle? What is the difference between using needles for intravenous drug use? Thank you!
Avatar n tn ya i know that hiv cant survive in atmosphere.but the medicine container used for loading the syringe seems to be air tight, isnt it?
Avatar f tn Please can you follow me a little and understand and feel my anxiety and fear? I know the modes of transmission that you mentioned. I would like to have explanations and details from you about my situation, please. why it is not possible to contaminate, because I am a little worried. Can HIV live in the blood on the table and cannot infect me even if it enters my veins through the needle, whether from the table or through the nurse's hand when Does he touch the needle?
Avatar f tn Last mont I went to hospital for treat my cold..the nurse put intramuscular injection using used syringe without sterilization..but she changed new needle...and she said only needle change is enough in IM injection...
