Avatar f tn my 4 yr old son has always displayed sensitivity to loud noises. as a baby he would cry on hearing a loud sneeze. as a 2 yr old he would never run on a playground and get on a slide unless either of his parents were right next to him. at 2.5 yrs he would be unable to seperate from parent to participate in age appropriate classes. he'd cover his ears and cry when children shout. he had been home until he was 3 and started preschool at 3. he loves his school.

Avatar n tn I have a four year old daughter who is extremely afraid of any kind of insect, whether it's big or small. If a bug is near her, she screams and panics. She is also afraid of loud noise, for ex.I can't vacuum, blow dry my hair, make eggs, anything that makes any type of loud noise or even when we grill, she is hiding. When in the pool, she is afraid of leaves that fall in the pool and bugs that are in the water.
Avatar f tn When these things are done to him he goes into a panic and starts to scream in fear. When he was about 3 his fear started to spread to noises, he now has a fear of loud noises. He is afraid to go into public bathrooms because of the blow dryers, he will cover his is ears scream is a smoke detector goes off and these are just two. I am going to take him to the doctor but I would like to have an idea of what may be going on if any so I can advocate for my son if a second opinion is needed.
Avatar n tn Well, anyways, my problem now is my acquired fear of loud noises and places. Im 21 and in college, so i basically dont go to parties (loud music) and DEF have not been to a single concert yet and will never again in my life, i dont play my radio loud, and dont attend football games (ppl screaming and band and all that). I really feel like ****. I want to go out and have fun and be be normal and all that but i want to have my hearing in good condition and not stress the tinnitus situation.
5967922 tn?1377546960 s always been afraid of loud shouting but now his fear has extended in the past couple weeks. He is afraid of any loud nose - shouting, gunshots, any sudden noise that is out of the blue, etc. When any of these things frighten him, he shakes uncontrollable and can't be comforted. He wants to try and get away from the noise by going outside, but then is fearful outside and wants to come right back in. I recently got him a thundershirt, but he still shivers in it.
Avatar n tn He is afraid of loud noises such as fireworks even if they are at a great distance. He will hold his hands over his head and not look up. He is afraid of fire in a fireplace or at a hibachi grill to the point where he will hide under the table covering his ears. He doesn't seem to like the feeling of heat on his face. He is also afraid of loud noises such as fire alrams, etc. He also has an instense fear of getting his haircut.

Avatar f tn I was at work and had to go in the air compressor room where its really loud. Is that harmful to baby? It jus randomly goes on and off and is extremely loud. I wasnt in there long.
Avatar m tn She is extremely afraid of noises (thunderstorms, etc). There was a worker downstairs working on our bathroom and he wsa poudning right before this happened. Do you think it is just a fear thing, or something more serious. Her legs don't appear injured, she is eating, drinking, and going to bathroom normally.
Avatar n tn When he sees something on TV or anywhere else that looks like it is going to be scary, his reaction is to immediately cover his ears. He also is very sensitive to loud abrupt noises like baloons popping (he can blow a whistle for hours), or fireworks. When he was two, at a minor league baseball game, they had a fireworks display, and he was terrified, so I held my hands over his ears the whole time, but he still cried and clearly didn't like it.
Avatar n tn When I go to bed, if I lay on my left side my stomach will make really loud noises like I'm hungry. It's so loud that it wakes my wife. If I turn onto my back or right side the noises stop. There's no pain associated with it or gas. I've tried eating before bed and not eating before bed and nothing changes. What could cause this?
1445110 tn?1388209711 I no longer have my thyroid, which was removed due to Graves and Hashimotos. I am having trouble with loud noises. It completely startles me to the point of almost feeling like I could have a heart attack. Sometimes even when the noise isnt really that loud. Seems somewhere I read that it is thyroid related? Thanks...
Avatar f tn I'm worried about exposure to loud noises while pregnant. Anyone know anything about this? The exposure I'm concerned about is actually my bird - a cockatoo. He lives inside and has a very loud scream which he sometimes does 3 or 4 times a day. I'm worried this may have some effect on the baby's hearing? I've tries to google info on it but cant seem to find anything.
Avatar m tn First of all, I have a dulled sense of hearing in general and I have constant ringing in my ear. Second, whenever I hear loud noises there is buzzing in my ear. From what I can tell, it is different than the static slightly, but it is highly annoying. What should I do? Is this due to swelling inside the ear? Should I give it time to heal or see a Dr.?
Avatar f tn I understand what both of are going through. Loud noises drive me crazy too and make my anxiety much worse. I think a lot of us with anxiety have the same problem with noises.
Avatar m tn When exposed to loud noises, but sometimes not so loud like at night my own voice, my left ear will make a rattling vibrating noise. I think it has to do with muscles tightening i read that somewhere. I also have tmj on that side and some tinnitus that side. Its not bad normally but I'm a musician and the rattling is the worse if i am singing with loud noises going on. Is there any cure for this?
Avatar f tn ll just scare you lol!! Its normal for babys to jump at loud noises just means his ears and reflexes are working well, I'm 28 weeks and my lg jumps at loud noises too!
Avatar f tn I can't tolerate loud noises. I don't know if that is due to neuro problems, but earplugs definately help. Have you ever spoken to your husband about why he needs the tv so loud? Maybe his hearing is impaired. When I sleep I have gotten used to having a small fan on next to my bed. The sound of the fan drowns out other noises and to me is soothing.
