I'm trying to find out if anyone has had a similar situation to mine and how they've dealt with it. For the past month I've had anxiety about driving on the interstate, especially when I think I might get stuck in traffic. It started when I had some stomach bug which caused me to get extremely nauseous when I was driving and I had to pull over ASAP and find a place to vomit or use the bathroom.
I know what you are going through! I have battled anxiety of driving on the interstate for about 4 years. It all started when I had my very first Panic Attack while driving alone on the interstate. I thought I was having a heart attack and was going to die alone at the age of 28 yrs old with a yound wife and a 6 month old daughter. It was terrifying!
I am almost over the driving fear, but it has been a long a process. I have good days and bad days.
Here are my symptoms for that started over a year ago
1. I get like this feeling like im going to pass out / lightheaded / vision is weird (light sensitivity).
I am 55 years old and had great vision and wore no lenses of any sort until about 2 years ago. I have developed presbyopia and was diagnosed with a bit of astigmatism in my right eye then. For most of the 2 years, I had glasses, which I seldom wore. I got by with the cheap reading glasses from the pharmacy and seldom wore my prescription glasses, since they would only stay clean for what seemed like a few milliseconds.
I live in Alabama and its a lot of dirt rough roads here ... It is very uncomfortable to me too coming up my dirt driveway... I don't like driving anymore since I've been pregnant I feel like everyone is trying to hit me. I had someone pull out Infront of me today and I was pissed ... It's not only my life in danger but my little girl in my belly too...
it has really picked up in the past year due to coming across sued needles on the ground. I seem to come across most of them on the roads while driving. but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.
I am a college professor and was in class two of the times, and driving home on the Interstate the last time. It seemed the room was spinning. Thought I was going to pass out, but held on to desk. Then, on Interstate, could ardly stay in my lane. Expected to crash as couldn't stay in lane and tried to exit. I did and pulled off, and like the two previous times, it only lasted 1 minute max. Then, I was OK. The first time, thought it was because needed food (had eaten 5 hrs.
My short-term memory is not as sharp as it used to be.

I may be schizophrenic,

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93.
Thankfully it seems as though his latest trial meds have been working great for him. Anyway, I was driving us home on the interstate after picking him up from work when out of nowhere I had a contraction. I could barely breathe through it let alone talk my hubby had to lean over to take the wheel and we managed to stop in the shoulder. All this in 2 mins time... which was how long the contraction was.
I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
My doctor says that another surgery may possibly relieve up to 70% of the pain, but that the mobility of my neck will be reduced greatly. (At times I have problems even driving due to my inability to turn my head very far) I am in my mid-50s and otherwise healthy. As much as I want the pain to go away, I fear the lack of mobility.
Has anyone had more than 2 levels repaired and it so, how is your pain versus mobility?
We were riding down the interstate after the last dr appt. Hubby was driving and I had the window down. Just as my hubby got over to let a car merge on (which put their window beside mine) I got a hard kick in the ribs. It hurt so bad I screamed a little. (I called it a yelp, they said scream) Well the car beside me turned out to be a cop. Who gave us some very hard looks before driving on.
i was driving confidently for the last 8 years. suddenly start to fear driving especially curves...now i could not take the vehicle in the middle of the road..i try to avoid and automatically i drive on left side of the road instead of straight...so i loose balance..i am sittiting also slightly towards left...this problem is giving me sleepless night...please advise me..........
I only got sick a handful of times with my daughter - once while driving down the interstate on my way to work - most horrible thing ever. Hopefully not something you'll have.
Soon after I developed a cataract (left) and had that Surgery in December, still having an issue with the sub-retinal fluid had laser surgery in Jan 2005 to isolate puddle, YAG in May 2005 and after 2 years of constant daily debilitating migraines that was causing me to live on Hydrocodone to function, I got the Buckle removed in Oct 2006. In the mean time, I have also having problems with right eye.
