fear

598974 tn?1221675462 I am fine driving around town and dont ever have these problems. It kind of seems like in the beginning of the episodes of starwars when they are flying through space and all the stars are passing by really fast but you can still see right in front of you very clearly?. I know that seems wierd but that is one of the feelings I get. I also just feel like passing out? It is really scaring me and I dont know what to do. Please Help me.
Avatar f tn Hi Pepper, driving is dangerous and your fear is normal. Being in a car is not an extension of our own bodies and also, as you mention, there are the other cars around you that you cant control. Ive been driving for 40 years without an accident. This is due to being active and proactive. When i am driving, i also watch out for the other cars and project there movements. I used to drive a taxi so my experience is a bit better than the average person.
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
Avatar f tn I never stopped driving with my first. I don't really see a reason not to.. Though I wouldn't drive long distances alone after 37 weeks.. And as far as about after delivery well, I'd say anything you feel better.. There's not really a time limit to wait or anything..
1532322 tn?1292178743 Driving on ice and snow makes us all nervous, but after having an accident, I can understand your fear. I would start out by driving short distances, and keep increasing how far you go. Take someone with you for comfort in the beginning. But it's best to stay home if you don't have to be out. I gained a whole new respect for how unforgiving ice is when I had an accident due to it. But since you are having panic attacks from your accident, you should seek therapy for this.
Avatar f tn As far as being able to put having a seizure while driving out of your mind, the answer is no. The fear will get less over time but it will never go away completely. I think about it every time I get behind the wheel and I have been having seizures since 99. It is not me that I worry about it is the other people on the road. If I have a seizure and hurt or god forbid kill someone I would not be able to live with myself.
Avatar f tn m moving across the country and considered driving at 30 weeks and my doctor said it would be fine so long as I got plenty of stretching breaks. (And flying is okay up until 36 weeks with most airlines, just FYI). Go on the trip and have fun and don't worry!
Avatar n tn My neurologist could not find anything wrong so he send me to Mayo Clinic where I was diagnosed. I have recently begun medication and have started driving short distances again. I am shopping in all stores again and I am going back to work next week after being off for 5 months due to the severity of my spells. Some people can even have temporary paralysis with vestibular migraines and they are mistaken for strokes. You can have them with or without headaches.
Avatar f tn I was driving myself to & from work all the way up to 39 weeks. my belly was RIDICULOUS, but I did it. my doctor say it was fine as long as my seatbelt was under my belly & the chest strap was AROUND my belly.. NOT across. it was a little difficult to turn in my car.. my belly was absolutely in the way being 5 feet tall & ALL BELLY.. but I managed. other than work, my fiancé drove everywhere else.
Avatar m tn Since you can apparently drive long distances to go on nature hikes, you're assessment of not having "classic" agoraphobia is extremely apt. It's also further debunked if you can go into stores.........very big and crowded stores, and your "raw nerves get worse and you start to come apart, but NO PANIC." (caps are mine) You haven't shopped for four years but if the need arises, you can leave your house and drive to Home Depot.
Avatar f tn The bad thing about driving long distances while pregnant is blood clots and swelling in your legs. I took a 200 mile round trip the other day and it was the first time during this pregnancy that I had swelling...it was not very good. And I was 31 weeks at the time.
Avatar m tn Approximately 6 weeks ago I began feeling pain in my right testicle area. It goes down to a level 1 (almost not notice-able) with lots of rest, but up to an 8 (incredible pain) when I drive long distances over bumpy roads. I can't think of anything to have caused this besides wrestling with someone one or two days before the pain started. I have received ultrasounds and a CT scan, all with negative results. I took antibiotics (ER prescribed them), with no result.
Avatar f tn I would not drive any long distance by myself. Let your own driving reactions to the things that can happen behind the wheel of a car determine whether or not you drive. Spasms, in my experience, are unpredictable and certainly that adrenaline rush in an anxious moment/situation driving can set off a spasm putting you at risk. Emergency help is nitro spray, whether you administer it or you wait for emergency help from ambulance or police help.

Avatar m tn I need help, I know what I did was wrong but I am living in a shell of my former self, a slave in my mind and I cannot drive long distances at all, I barely can drive short distances and I will still feel panic. No one has helped, I have had all the brain scans: 2 MRIs, CAT, EEG. I have had my heart monitored, I have been to an ENT, I have tried to see a psychologist/psychiatrist (lousy)......I have seen the professionals and have been rejected.
Avatar f tn When I was pregnant with my second baby, me and my husband used to do long walks. I was 38 weeks and 6 days and I walked 20 miles... Walking long distances is fine:) Good luck babe.
Avatar n tn Use the search feature of this website. Possible problems include ghosting, halos, "vaseline" vision, inability to drive at night, inability to adapt to multifocal vision, poor intermediate vision, need for glasses at all distances.
394991 tn?1214255907 I went to the ER the 2nd time this happened when I was driving and they did tons of tests..EKG, pregnancy test, CT scan, chest x-rays, and found nothing. I made an appt with my primary care physician and she thought it might be panic attacks. I have been on Zoloft for 2 weeks and seen no improvement. I started thinking they probably weren't panic attacks because this sensation occurs every time I am in a car, from the time the car is moving, to the time it stops.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar n tn which one is the best of the multifocal lens available in the market namely crystalens, Restor or Rezoom
Avatar f tn , etc. I also am not able to drive long distances like I used to be - even with taking rest stops - my body simply does not permit me to be in the car for those long periods of time anymore. To do so, I end up feeling like a giant pretzel whenever I get to my destination, all twisted and hurting horribly - and then it takes me days or even weeks to get feeling better, so for me, it's not worth it. Some people are able to continue working with fibro and others are not.
Avatar m tn Having suffered from severe back pain for over 11 years - mine started after a four day drive - having driven for 12 hours each day there and then the same drive back!! Sitting down driving long distances puts a lot of strain on your back and will likely highlight any weaknesses there. You really need a diagnosis and most likely a CT or MRI scan would be the most appropriate. With long term back pain - and no diagnosis, there are serious complications that can occur - though not always.
Avatar f tn i have a long experience of anxiety and depression been on celexa 40mg for ages but at times i just cant deal with the ominous feeling something bad is coming its like i go through my life and reassure my self all aspects of my life seem ok but i regularly get the "feeling" and its scary and uncontrollable theres no reason to think these things i know but i have no idea what im fearing its just like i fear fear itself please can someone advise thanks
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
Avatar f tn hey girlee....you really got to watch driving wile under the influence of narcotics... your prone to nod off at the most inappropriate times ....I once mixed blood pressure meds with methadone and nodded off at a stop light ..almost got thrown in jail over it to but they only did a breathalyzer test and I only had 2 beers that night so I passed the test...I new something was wrong right after I took the meds I got realy tired they must have reacted with the methadone...
