Avatar m tn I will be flying to Philippines in 2 days I normally have a MASSIVE fear of flights. This time round, I anticipate my fear of flights will go crazy because I will be going on an OLD aircraft (A340 model, possibly around 20 years old plane!) So how am I to stop this fear? Can i take Xanax? I checked with my insurance provider, and they say I can claim for Xanax, so looks like I can get a psychiatrist to dispense some for me.
Avatar n tn The anxiety produced when confronted with height creates what is near panic. The fear only exhibits itself primarily on the ground and outside.. I do not have a fear of flying in a jet airplane or inside tall buildings. It has become a real problem for me to enjoy skiing. I'm ok as long as I don't have any major "drop offs" thus limiting the area's where I can ski. I've tried to overcome the fear with little success. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar m tn m about 60% back to normal, some days 70%, i can see how it can work, i have done self hypnosis on myself for my driving fear. i only did it a few times and just on the stretch from my house to work and i have hardly no anxiety when doing this now...and how about this, there is MASSIVE construction inbetween my house and my office and sometimes i have to sit in traffice for like a few minutes. i get a tad edgy, but nothing i can't handle.
Avatar n tn in at least two of the incidents, the bleeds followed a bout of terrible eating (no fiber, no greens, tons of cheese). I never strain, however. A physician felt internal hemorrhoids during a digital exam--but naturally, even at my age (32, male), a colonoscopy is the wisest choice. The problem is that I've been unable to prepare myself psychlogically for the procedure: having never been sedated and also having severe anxiety issues, I don't want to consent to Versed.
Avatar n tn her urine for excessively long periods of time--12 hours one day and 191/2 on another. She is 3 years old and not toilet trained..she has a fear of releasing into the toilet. We have changed nothing in the last 3 days, but she did have a UTI at the end of November. I am a bit worried about this, but was wondering if I should pursue something immediately or wait and see if it is a behavioral issue. Thanks!
531005 tn?1286515532 For example, have them replace my anxiety and OCD(in this case fear of death), into being relaxed and having OCD(to work out)? So instead of having anxiety and fear of death, I'd be relaxed and exercise a lot more than I do. End result: Physically healthy and stress free individual! I need to know if I can do this, cause I'm seriously going to talk to my doctor next week... and I don't want to look like an idiot.
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.
Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
Avatar m tn Thanks! My pain got bad to where I went to the hospital. I told them I wasn't feeling anxious and they checked everything (blood, urine, heart, etc.). Turned out everything is fine, and now I have some sort of peace of mind. I'll give that hypnosis a try. Thanks again.
1032898 tn?1258598707 The difference between the two is that the PM Counselor is more focused on helping one live with and deal with your pain. They have more education and training in the pain management arena. I saw a PM Counselor once and found much better guidance from a regular counselor. But I only saw her that one time and we just didn't click. So don't judge my experience as the norm. I know others that have found them helpful. Hypnosis is utilized for all types of issues, including pain management.
Avatar f tn i have a huge fear of internal scans esp Trans Vaginal Scans. i am currently going through an IVF cycle and for my situations the scans are being done under sedation. i want to get rid of this anxiety. i get an upset stomach before the scan and get very nervous. i do believe it is because of bad experience that occurred when i was a child. i have tried therapy nothing works. i am very embarrassed abt my problem i know most women won't think twice about the scans . how do i get better?
633403 tn?1281175065 hello. i've not heard of any reliable successes with hypnosis to treat alcoholism, although there are plenty of folks these days trying to capitalize on the addiction/treatment industry. you have at your disposal the most effective method of recovery though as long as you keep going to aa. not everyone stops before they walk into the rooms (i've been to a few meetings intoxicated in the past myself) and it's not a requirement to be sober---only to have a desire to stop.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried hypnosis for weight loss? So many diet drugs interact with Synthroid so I though maybe it was worth a shot. Just curious! (Ive gained 50 lbs since TT and quitting smoking a year ago) Yikes!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn Maybe try clinical hypnosis which is used to cure fear of flying.
Avatar f tn Hi all, after some life altering events a very independent female of 33 years ,I am forced to stop driving due to anxiety. Also suffer from stress and hypothyroidism .Last week in routine tests my ecg and 2d echo came out normal but stress test was positive for inducible Ischema. Avatar f tn as in going on holiday, i,m not agood flyer so that hads too my fear. do you think a course of hypnosis could help me break thid horrible chane of throughts.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar m tn You might even be able to resolve this with hypnosis since you seem to have a good understanding of the cause and are motivated to get a solution. At one time, I had a fear of flying but one hypnosis session was all it took to end that. They gave me a mantra to repeat a few times half an hour before my plane trips, then once in a while during the flight. It was "I relax quickly and easily, living life to the fullest, relaxing day by day.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
394991 tn?1214255907 I had gone back and forth whether these weird sensations were, indeed, caused by anxiety, or maybe some sort of eye problem? I had tried relaxation techniques, xanax, desensitization, inderol, hypnosis, nothing helped. About 3 weeks ago I went to the pscyiatrist and he prescribed Lexapro. It has been a miracle drug for me. Within 4 days I was 80% better, and now, 3 weeks later, I am 95% better. I haven't noticed a single side effect.
Avatar f tn Anxiety has many faces. The other day I was biking and all of a sudden I didn't feel like myself. I also felt light as a feather.. like i was about to float away in the wind.
Avatar n tn He had been driving with someone he fairly knew, and didnt think twice about it. The guy ended up going into his bag, and taking his prescription. It is a prescription to Xanax. We tried calling his Doctor, but she is away visiting her family in India. So there is no way of getting in contact with her. We do not know what to do... any suggestions?

8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
Avatar f tn I would recommend trying hypnosis for fear of flying. One session worked for me including them teaching how to self hypnotize so you can do it every time for future trips. Much handier than obtaining and packing meds - if you try it, they recommend that you read about it first because the more you understand about it, the easier it is for the session to work.
