fear

Avatar m tn Some people with panic and anxiety disorder have a fear of driving on highways. It is more common than you would think. Do you notice any significant amount of anxiety off the road, or is it only when you are driving? I would see your doctor.
Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
Avatar f tn I always had them when I was driving on highways. Well in November of 2008 I finally stood up too him, and took cusotdy of my kids back. I began the panic attacks once again, when I was trying to cross a bridge I had crossed, hundreds if not thousands of times. Why did they begin again? I am so VERY ANGRY that he has any sort of control, in any manner, over me. I lecture myself, about how stupid it is too be scared to cross the bridge.
Avatar m tn i was driving confidently for the last 8 years. suddenly start to fear driving especially curves...now i could not take the vehicle in the middle of the road..i try to avoid and automatically i drive on left side of the road instead of straight...so i loose balance..i am sittiting also slightly towards left...this problem is giving me sleepless night...please advise me..........
8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
Avatar m tn m not alone on this 2years ago I was driving on the second fast lane of the high way at a fast speed of about 140km/hr then I felt like I saw something crossing the high way and as if I was feeling dizzy then I had to put my hazards on in the middle of the highway pulled over then I was fine then after 2 days this dizziness started I couldn't drive with a speed of over 100km/hr until now I don't even know what to do now as I can't afford to go to these expensive doctors
Avatar f tn I have been having a lot of issues lately and I have all the sudden developed a crazy fear of driving. I am scared when I drive but I am rediculous when I am the passenger. I literally scream and shut my eyes and put my hands in front I my face. I don't know why this is happening. I have not had any bad experiences in a car. It just seems like more and more bad things are happening with me now :/ i have also gotten more and more paranoid by the day.
506490 tn?1213431764 I'm the same as the general consensus here I fear for my heart I'm trying but God it's hard and itsense fear washes over me when my heart is going fast. I can't think of my heart without conjuring up images of terror so actively getting it worked up is nearly impossible. But what I do is set a target, small target or whatever depending on your fitness but set it and stick to it.
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.
Avatar f tn Bump
Avatar f tn I get panic about stupid things like my heart would beat really fast when I walk up the stairs and I get anxious that my heart will not stop beating fast, but it always calms down. Or driving in the dark I always get anxious when I drive because I dont want to crash and have my parents yell at me. Well those are my problems. I dont want to go on any anxiety pills, I just need natural ways to calm me down...anyone got any suggestions?
Avatar f tn dont be afraid of dieing... generally that has not such a fast simptom. my bet is that you are alergic to latex... try using polyhuretane condoms wich are a little more expensive but theyre a lil stronger and thinner too (yes yes yes its true) if its not that maybe the girl had some infection in her mouth.
Avatar f tn t you get a dashboard camera (you could probably use your smartphone if it has enough memory). Record yourself driving. When you feel this fear, check the video and you will see that you have not hot anyone. At first, try driving for a short distance and then check the video. Then try driving a longer distance. You will be doing some self-exposure therapy and will have solid evidence that nothing bad has happened. Hang in there!
1804812 tn?1329677557 Boy, can I relate!! MANY of us can! This goes hand in hand with panic. " I am known as the "back roads" queen because I can get to just about anywhere on small streets and county roads. I always feel like I need to have a place I can pull over". Me too! LOL. I HATE highways. I explored this fear with my therapist years ago, and she explained to me that the fear stems from our basic fear of becoming "trapped" somewhere, with no option of "escape".
Avatar f tn This is the scariest flare I have ever had. I actually have been banned from driving by my husband (prob smart) and that is my biggest fear is not driving anymore. I sure hope this reverses.
Avatar f tn i stopped running and became afraid of doing too much physical activity in fear that it would happen again. i am petrified of having a heart attack or something being wrong with my heart because simple things such as going up and down the stairs makes my heart beat so fast and pound so hard that i feel like its going to pound out of my chest. this only makes my anxiety worse as i am already constantly living in fear of something being wrong with my heart. is it normal that my heart does this?
Avatar m tn If you are dealing with anxiety, I think it would be very beneficial for you to talk things over with a therapist. Those of us with anxiety will often latch onto a fear and we are pros at blowing things out of proportion. You're gonna be OK, OK?
Avatar n tn My own sister developed a fear of driving on highways when she was much younger. Just as you said, she too can drive perfectly fine on other roads but not the main highways. I myself have never had a problem driving on any road or highway yet I cannot get on an airplane. My sister has no problem going on an airplane. Thats how are minds are, we develop fears that will be hard to break unless we face them head-on. So yours is more common than you might think.
Avatar m tn For the last few months i have not been able to drive a car it fees like my brain isnt picking up on things as fast as they are coming at me. My vision feels off really bad. Also I constantly have fear for some reason. For instance if i see a shadow in my field of veiw and can't figure out what it is i freak out bit, or if there is a smell that is stuck in my nose i freak out.
1353681 tn?1387083733 A traumatic event in which one day I was fine, in the passenger seat w/a friend about almost 6 yrs. ago now, and had always been fine, driving and as passenger....she is a kind of fast/wacky driver, and we were going down a hill in which she was actually pressing on the gas and accelerating fast....I guess it was b/c I was now aware that she was doing this , that I began to get a feeling of "out of controlness" and panic...it was really quite nerveracking for me and scary...
Avatar m tn but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.
Avatar m tn Of course there is always a what if, but we also take a risk by walking down the street, driving our cars, etc. Have you ever thought of talking to a therapist about this? Health anxiety is quite common in this forum and can really take a toll on us unless we get to the bottom of it. Keep us posted!
Avatar m tn Puppies and chicks tend to be fast moving. Find the right kind of puppy at a pound or store, and I bet his response will be different.
