There were no visible sores on her lips but I'm just nervous about the whole situation.
Avatar n tn HSV1 is something that most people catch as a child, similar to chickenpox. HSV1 causes cold sores. People with cold sores should not kiss anyone while they have cold sores. They should keep their hands clean. (Personally if I had active cold sores, I would not touch a child at that time.) Sometimes HSV1 can occur on fingers. If someone has sores on their fingers the same rules apply. HSV2 is considered a sexually transmitted disease. Its occurrence orally is RARE.

Avatar f tn because i just recently found out that what i previously just thought was an infection is actually my first outbreak of herpes 1 and before i found out, i fear i may have spread it to other parts of my body through touching the painful "infection" and then a cut on my back or my genital area. it was definitely an open sore at the point i fear i transmitted it to myself.
Avatar f tn This is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, but I have an irrational fear of contracting genital herpes. I've been seeing a therapist, but lately I have relapsed. I know I do not have hsv 2, but I do have hsv 1 orally. I rarely get cold sores, but I'm always on the alert for cold sores that could occur on my face. This morning I woke up, and had burning small bumps on my chin. It's possible that this could be pimples, because the bumps don't itch. They just burn.

Avatar m tn Even if it isnt, if I engage in oral sex with a woman (regardless if theses are cold sores or not), can I transfer herpes virus to her? My current partner has just been diagnosed with HSV-1 on her genitals and I fear that I am the culprit. She did have another partner a few months ago, but developed symptoms a few days after we engaged in oral sex. I plan to get tested as soon as possible, but was hoping for some info in the meantime. 561470 tn?1253168113 I have an odd type of cold sores; I get them on the side of my face! Cold sores are caused by a virus, and a virus has been known to bring on a flare of MS symptoms. I have noticed flares of symptoms after outbreaks of my virus on at least two occasions. Maybe your cold sore virus was kicking up before the cold sores showed up, and brought on the flare, or maybe it's something totally different.

Avatar f tn Hi - Have you ever been tested for hsv1? If you haven't, ask your doctor for a type specific IgG herpes blood test. Most people who have it don't ever get a cold sore, so you could have it and not know it. Overall, almost 50% of the population ages 14-49 in the US has hsv1. In your gender and age group, and at 20, your kind of on the cusp of the breakdown, it's 41.3%. The older you get, the higher the rates are. You can read more here - https://www.cdc.

Avatar f tn Hello, Herpes simplex virus-1 causing cold sores can spread if a person touches the cold sore and then touches a mucous membrane or an area of the skin with a cut on it. Mucous membranes are the moist, protective linings made of tissue that are found in certain areas of your body like your nose, eyes, mouth, and vagina. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
