20084011 tn?1489877396 Of course then I have to think about the blood. I have self harmed in the past and any sight of blood and injury can cause both hallucinations and thoughts/ actions I haven't had for a while...
Avatar m tn t know why there seems to be a rash of this particular fear on the fourm lately. Did I miss some breaking news story about the use of dirty needles? This sounds more like a phobia than an "anxiety issue," but call it what you want. And where and why does going to a psychologist come into this saga? And unless you and your parents are on the "outs," I think it would be a very good idea to discuss your fear with them.
Avatar n tn I went and got tested by getting my blood drawn at my 12th week mark. The next morning I woke up to a patch of these brown freckle looking spots on the back of my right hand. I know nobody in the US reuses needles but I immediately thought by human error, could it be possible? I showed my hand to a dermatologist but he was unsure what it was. The test came back negative but now I have a fear. Should get retested or am I thinking irrationally? Also, is a 12 weeks test conclusive vs.
Avatar n tn and then..I had this blood drawing fear coming out as I saw bunch of possible hiv carriers who were drawing blood in front of me and the nurse had touched me with the same fingers she had done the blood drawing for others.....so, i'm really worried about it too.

Avatar f tn Hello, just had my blood drawn and when I took off the tape, I had a bruise and a bunch of little red dots in the crease of my arm, to the right of the bruins. Should I be concerned? I'm only asking because they look like tiny blood clots and I like to make sure it's okay.
Avatar m tn Now just a little back story I was recently tested for HIV (Came out negative) but ever since then I have had been having extreme anxiety about everything and anything. Now this question is related to when I got my blood drawn. Now i didn't watch her take my blood because I don't usually but when it was done and over and when she took it out it kind of hurt a bit.
Avatar f tn I used to be afraid of needles and Vaccine, counting on the number of time i had to drew blood during this pregnancy it bacame something very normal for me now but i have to admit that i got a very good midwife to do the blood work.
Avatar n tn If it was previously used and not sterile, you risk various bacterial infections, but not HIV. Blood draws take blood OUT of you - they don't put blood into you. Absolutely no risk for HIV. I am also doubtful that a qualified medical professional would risk her livelihood by re-using a needle.
Avatar f tn Ftm & I never knew while pregnant we have to get at least 6tubes of blood drawn lol will they continue to draw blood every time I go to the doc?
393685 tn?1425812522 I miss the putty tat! Just thought you were sticking out your tongue at all those so-called drs. Am praying for only good things to come your way! Understand completely about being excited about the blood draws. True story. I almost didn't marry my first husband b/c I was so scared of getting the blood drawn. Avatar f tn If you are having a normal pregnancy then your blood maybe drawn 2-3 times. Trust me after delivery you will be over your fear of blood work. I still fear IVs and epidural but I know it will be fine and completely worth it ones she's here.
4182046 tn?1355820039 I made the mistake of being really hungry on one blood test I had and ended up with my face in a sick bowl, shaking, sweating, couldn't hear anything but a high pitched ringing, it really was awful. I got a hot chocolate afterward and felt better.
Avatar f tn I had pre-eclampsia and they hooked me up to all kinds of IVs and magnesium drips and I had to have blood drawn every 3 or 4 hours the 6 days I was in the hospital :p it really does get easier. Just remember it's for your little one.
Avatar f tn There is nothing else you can do. I'm terrified of needles/shots and I've gotten my blood drawn from my veins so many times while being pregnant. I'd never done it before. I would never let me regular Dr. I know now that it doesn't hurt but I'm still scared. I just look away and it's over before I know it. I even got an epidural last week.. Proud of myself.

Avatar f tn Ive been hurt too many times that way. I always have blood drawn from the back of my hands using a butterfly. I have big easy to see veins there and seldom bruise with the right compression afterwards. And yes, the phlebotomist makes all the difference in the world.

Avatar m tn 6 days ago i had a rapid hiv test done. they drew blood out of me. thankfully it was negative but i keep thinking that the needle she used was dirty. i don't really remember her opening the needle, and the needle wasn't on the table when i first walked in and she threw it away when she was finished with me. i don't know why i keep thinking this, most people would just be happy with a negative result. when she was sticking the needle in me, it looked absolutely clean.
Avatar m tn I just want to know one thing dose injecting drug and drawn blood with reused syringe posses same risk for hiv , Can any one get hiv if a reused syringe is used in blood drawn .....
Avatar f tn I get lightheaded during blood work too. When I have all my bloodwork done (included my GTT), I told her to draw the glucose tubes first and tell me when she was done so I could have a snack while she drew the rest.
