Is this 140 a fasting level? If it is a fasting level it is not normal. Normal fasting should be lower than 95, and ideally even in the 80s.
Are you overweight or any other health issues? Family history of diabetes?
I would strongly recommend that you visit your doctor and tell him or her your results. They should do some further investigation. Hba1c and glucose testing.
If you have a home glucose meter, please do some more testing.
Nine years ago I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy. However, my 2-hour glucose testing numbers were borderline. I tested my blood 4 times per day and never once had an abnormal or even remotely high result the rest of my pregnancy. With my 3rd pregnancy I was not diagnosed with gestational diabetes. That was 4 years ago. Diabetes does not run in my family. No one in my family has it.
I was on beta-blockers during my first pregnancy because of high blood pressure. During my second pregnancy I watched my sodium intake and it helped so much that I did not need to take the beta-blockers. Do you eat a lot of salt?
Also, do you have a lot of stress in your life? My blood sugar is much harder to control and widely varies when I am under a lot of stress and pressure.

ve done finger/arm tests throughout the day and have not had anything remotely abnormal. I had a fasting blood sugar level of 93 first thing in the AM and all my levels after eating were 135 or below.
Could the 191 have been error? Should I request to have the one hour test repeated first before I torture myself with the three hour test? Or should I just suck it up and do the test.
I am sure the doctor will get back to you, but you really have to make sure and show this to your child's doctor. I have learned that the blood sugars he is having are not normal and he needs to be seen tomorrow. He needs the follow up testing asap and needs an A1C test. I always take 2 or 3 pulkas or chapathis during night every day and i dont eat rice during night.. But whenever i check the blood glucose levels with the glucometer, i find that the fasting values are not within the range of normal values viz 110 for fasting. but the post lunch levels always within the normal range of viz 140.The random levels always varies from 125 to 150. ve been told by my doctor that my glucose levels in urine have been rising.Also that blood glucose test you do at forgot how many weeks,she said I passed it,but very close to not passing.
I do not think the way they measure it in the doc's office is very accurate, by using strips put into urine.
I have done some checking myself at home,by pricking the finger before and after each meal.

About a year and a half a year ago, I was diagnosed with impaired glucose fasting, fasting glucose level was 119. At that time I was complaining of constant thirst, frequent urination, and sometimes night sweats, and slow healing. 6 month follow-up (one year ago) the fasting glucose level was 113. A1C was 6.0
I have been modifiying diet, exercising frequently and have lost approx 10-12 lbs.
About a year ago during routine blood work, my fasting glucose result was found to be 102. My doctor (an endocrinologist I see for my thyroid disorder) was concerned and ordered A1C and C-Peptide tests along with another fasting glucose test. All came back normal a few weeks later (A1C 5.1, fasting glucose 92). An additional fasting glucose test a few months later was normal at 94. Just a few days ago, I got another blood test and my fasting glucose was back up to 101.
I believe there's some confusion on glucose levels so I'll try to clear that up for you. A fasting glucose of 97 mg/dl is not high but is leaning towards the upper range of normal.
Normal fasting is between 60/70 to 99 mg/dl
Prediabetes is 100 to 125 mg/dl
Diabetes is considered 126 mg/dl and above
The 5.2% A1c does indicate a slightly elevated level of 103 mg/dl but I would rule that towards your pregnancy.
It depends on when the blood sugar was taken. If you were fasting then it's extremely high I'd you had just eaten and depending on what you ate it could be okay.
