m worried about Herpes on the lips. My ex-partner used to have Herpes labialis outbreaks quite often, and since I already have had HSV myself I was not worrying to much about kissing him while having outbreaks on his lips. I know that salvia sort of inactives HIV, so I'm not afraid HIV could be transmitted by kissing under those conditions.
The only thing is, that I'm not sure if he might have had an acute Herpes labialis outbreak while performing oral sex on me.

This could be acne, allergic reaction to some substance, eczema or even herpes labialis. Whether the current lesions and the symptoms you had previously are the same cannot be said with surety.
It would be best to drink plenty of water, apply a medicated lip balm with sunscreen and replace any deficient minerals and vitamins in your diet.
You could take some oral antihistamine medications lie cetrizine or loratadine and see if it helps with your symptoms.
how long did you take the famvir for? are you sure that you haven't done anything else along with taking famivir that could have helped the symptoms? simply from being at rest for example.

Hi guys, I've always been suffering from herpes labialis since I was a kid, however the most recent outbreak came with something new and unexpected, as I started feeling pain at my right eye and I experienced a severe toothache as well. The toothache is still going on after 4 days of damn pain. I'm wondering if herpes could have run through other nerves, the mandibular in my case:( what do you think?
t know what herpes expert you are talking about, but starting Famvir at day 14 after contact would have absolutely no impact on contracting herpes. If you had come in direct contact with herpes and had taken the Famvir within an hour or two for several days, then maybe, yes.
Yes, a western blot at 16 weeks would be conclusive but will likely not be different than results now. The western blot picks up more HSV 1 than the ELISA does.
Clinically, it very much sounds like Herpes labialis (cold sores; fever blisters). It can be triggered by sun exposure, fever, and stress (among other causes). Burning, itching or tingling sensation occur even before lesions appear. An outbreak in lip area starts with small blisters (vesicles) filled with clear yellowish fluid, on a swallen, red, painful area. Blisters burst and ooze. Finally, yellow crusts form.
Herpes labialis can be treated both topically and orally with anti-viral drugs.
The day after I experienced chills, leg fatigue, shivering, total loss of appetite, insomnia, hot flushes to the face, and herpes labialis appeared, but resolved in two days after topical Zovirax. Symptoms remain the same.
Obviously I severely anxious, scared, depressed and devoured by guilt.

no the famvir isn't still working a week later. Herpes antivirals don't work that way.
Can you get ob's back to back like this? Yes you can and sometimes it happens. treat this one like you usually do ( or consider the 1 day dosing of famvir even ). if it takes longer than a week to heal or you get another ob soon afterwards, follow up on things wtih your provider to make sure you don't have anything else going on and to discuss treatment options.
My doctor said its very unusual to have outbreaks all the time on medication. She has prescribed Famvir for me now. Can you tell me if this is normal?
My advice is for you to speak with your health care provider(s) about this, and discuss whther to stop taking the Famvir. The main reason for suppressive treatment of genital herpes is to prevent transmission to people who are not yet infected; or to preven frequent outbreaks. If either of you starts having frequent outbreaks after the drug is stopped, he or she can restart it. But it definitely isn't needed to prevent transmission to each other.
I was diagnosed with herpes 10 years ago. No blood test, visual inspection. I am now married with 2 childeren. My wife is aware of my herpes. 4 weeks ago I had my 1st severe outbreak. No real outbreaks before this. I went to family doctor and he gave me 500 mg famciclovir. Sores scabed and went away after 1 week. Now the blisters are back in the same place. He has given me zovirax this time. Do outbreaks happen so close together?

i know that valtrex and famvir are different family of anti-viral's. has anyone had poor results with valtrex and had to change to famvir? i don't seem to be responding to valtrex or acyclovir so i might change.
I was not comfortable with the dr so i went to see another one, he prescribed me famvir and told me to come back in 6 weeks for testing for herpes, though he saw nothing he could culture or anything indicative of herpes. The famvir relieved my symptoms though every time i go off it i get about 5 days of relief before symptoms start to come back. I also have had general (and painful) adenopathy since early feb. but dr dismissed it as no big deal.
Definitely the next step is getting your man tested for herpes. He'll need a type specific herpes igg blood test for hsv1 and hsv2. Once you know his status then you can better decide what precautions to take together ( if any ).
Just to err on the side of caution - I'd call the clinic and ask them if they can mail you a copy of your herpes lesion culture results. The other option is to ask for a clinic nurse there to go over it with you.

have been now 5 months outbreak free (leading a really healthy lifestyle). My doctor prescribed me for my outbreaks famvir, 125 mg twice a day during 5 days.
I have a girlfriend and we have talked about this and both of us would like to make sex without condoms. We have sex each 2/3 weeks. I wouldnt like to take suppresive therapy daily, if we are having sex each 2 / 3 weeks (wich is very little).
Taking this in mind what would be considered an effective suppresive therapy?
Just to let you know, as a general fact you can get oral herpes from giving oral sex to someone with genital herpes, especially if the individual has type 1 genital herpes. However, if both of you have genital herpes then you already have antibodies for the virus. This means that as long as you perform oral sex when you partner is not having an outbreak you are not likely to become infected orally.
