I have a 7 mo old shelter cat who has been examined no less than four times now, by two different vets, for a cloudy area in his eye that has presented recurring issues. He was examined under anesthesia and the pronouncement was congenital corneal adhesion. The problem is that the adhesion seems to want to chronically ulcerate, sometimes seemingly painful with clear tears & a thick mucus, on other occasions with a dark brown discharge.
m not a doctor but I have no idea why you would need prescription medication in this case (Famciclovir) when you are not experiencing a herpes outbreak.

I recently switched prophylactic medication from acyclovir to famciclovir, and had a 18-month period free from outbreak. Come yesterday, I had another terrible outbreak (worse than usual)... will these become more commonplace now? Is this a sign of HSV-resistance to the drug? Are there any other courses of action I can consider?
I have had oral sex with my partner who has Genital Herpes 2 and I thought we did everything 'right' in preventing it being passed on to me. He hasn't had it for some time. So a couple things here -
First, once you have antibodies to hsv1, it is very, very unlikely that you would ever autoinoculate (spread it to another part of your body). You've had this for a really long time, and antibodies develop within a few months, so I wouldn't worry about that at all.
The other thing is that herpes infects nerve groups. Oral herpes infects the trigeminal nerve. That nerve affects the mouth, nose and eyes.

To prevent frequent recurrence of genital warts, one can take medicines like Acyclovir, famciclovir, and valacyclovir. This is known as suppressive therapy and is very much effective in preventing recurrences. My advice is to consult a dermatologist and get it prescribed.

I started suppression famciclovir over the weekend and had diahhrria 5 times the next day. Has this happend to anyoone else? Please share your side effects of any other meds or meds that gave no side effects. I have to call the doc and get something else.
The good news is the prognosis for cats with Squamous cell carcinoma is much better than it is for other types of cancer. If the cancer is treated early enough, squamous cell carcinoma in cats is usually treatable. In most cats with skin Squamous cell carcinoma, the prognosis following surgery is excellent. It is promising that the affected area is small. It is a much better prognosis than for nose, ears or mouth!
