I have had cold sores since I was like 3 ;I met someone I deeply cared for and love..I am a lesbian by the way..I telling u this because of the questions I have.
So we got tested and everything came back negative for me except of course HSV1 and for her all was negative.
Here are my questions and thank u in advance for answering them:
1. I have read so many different percentages of shedding from 5% to 18% the highest..which is closer to the truth?

I started getting sores on my tongue after i get a cold sore, which I have always had, about 5 months ago and these sores on my tongue have been constant since than. The start as a small dot that develops a white ring and the white ring spreads outward and the sore gets bigger with a shallow red sore inside it. They start and take about 10-15 days to heal and typically occur in same areas, back of tongue and tip of tongue. My tongue also feels hot and burns.
I have been experiencing severe vaginal itching with the past 3 weeks. It started off with a few sores just above the pubic hair area. Then vulva/vagina became all red and inflamed. I thought it was yeast infection and self medicated. However it got worse and then I noticed ulcers/boils all over vulva. Pain was very intense. They started to ooze and bleed. They are now drying out but I still have tingling feeling. I visited doctor who suggested possible genital herpes and put me on famciclovir.
At first I was getting cold sores about every 4 to 6 weeks. I then started taking 500 mg of Valtrex daily for suppression therapy. This seemed to reduce the frequency of my outbreaks to about once every 2 to 3 months. To save money, my insurance switched me to acyclovir (400 mg twice a day) with similar results as the Valtrex. Then starting about 3 months ago, I began to have outbreaks every two weeks even with the suppression therapy.
Refrain from touching the sores and spreading the virus to new sites, such as the eyes and genitals. It is also important to wash hands after eating or touching the lesion. Ice applied directly to the cold sore site prior to the eruption of a blister may reduce the potential swelling. Any drying over-the-counter cold sore preparation that contains camphor and/or phenol may provide relief if applied in the early stages.
Hence there is no permanent cure. But antiviral medications like acyclovir, valacyclovir and famciclovir are known to shorten outbreaks and improve symptoms. So, please ask her to consult her doctor for medications. Regards.
I've suffered from multiple outbreaks of oral (Type 1) HSV for years. When I started prophylactic treatment with acyclovir, I saw a reduced occurrence for a few months, then they came back to about 4-5 outbreaks/year. I recently switched prophylactic medication from acyclovir to famciclovir, and had a 18-month period free from outbreak. Come yesterday, I had another terrible outbreak (worse than usual)... will these become more commonplace now? Is this a sign of HSV-resistance to the drug?
I seem to recall having had oral herpes (cold sores) maybe 30+ years ago as a child but never again. If the partner in this encounter had oral herpes (none visible) would I have also contracted genital herpes through oral sex and would symptoms have developed by now? It's 12 days and I haven't the slightest symptom in the genital area. Have I been lucky or is it still too early?
t remember having cold sores, I give oral sex to my husband before having unsafe sex but he does not do it to me.. He didn't have either symptoms of it. My question is where can i possibly caught it, is it possible that i pass it on my genitals from my own saliva during intercourse? Is it possible to have another outbreak again? Is it still contagious? Is it possible to transmit it unto his genital area during sex and oral sex after the outbreak?
4 days ago I kissed and received oral sex from a colleague at work. She had told me a few months ago that she did not get any cold sores. 3 days later she came to work with a cold sore. I asked her how she could have got that as she said she didn't get them. She said it was the first time that she's had them. I know that I wasn't the one to give her that as I have been tested in the past and it was negative for both types.
He told me to take famciclovir for a second time. In total, lesions lasted for almost 4 weeks. No crust at anytime was formed.
Since 5 years, I haven't had a recurrence (outbreaks). The only way I could imagine I contracted herpes is me transmitting my labial herpes (if I have it, like latent) to my genitals. I know that some days before I got a vesicule ( like 5 days before) I put my fingers in my mouth and touch my genitals after.
About 35 yrs ago I started getting cold sores and they were horrible. It caused my lip to swell and become distorted and would last about 2-3 wks. I read an article about sun uv light triggering it and decided to get lip balm w/an spf of 45 (hawaiian tropic) I put that on my lips at least 30 min before i leave the house to get absorbed in and might reapply a few times a day. I now only get cold sores maybe once every 5-6 yrs.
So I have oral herpes. But I ever get cold sores, and I'm talking to this girl I like, and the other day when we went on a date I noticed she had a cold sore on her bottom lips that have lasted for a little over a week. It doesn't bother me too much cause I know she has the same virus I have,but it kind of makes me nervous to kiss her, I'm wondering if I kiss her while she has a real cold sore on her lip, then will I start getting cold sores?
I have been suffering with cold sores for almost since I was a teenager I am 39 and still suffering with them I never brought this to my doctors attention, because I thought nothing can be done about it. I know the virus is living inside of me and everybody else who gets them, they hurt a lot yesterday morning when I woke up I already started with 3 of them on my upper lip. ve been seeing each other for about 2 months and long story short have now found out my gf does have the occasional cold sore OB. Needless to say, I'm a bit worried about what that means for me. I havent seen anything or felt anything. Shes not on antivirals and claims this has never been an issue I'm the past and that none of her partners have suffered from this either. Do I have any real reason to be worried. Internet has me a bit confused.

I have herpes (HSV-1) since I was a child. I experience cold sores whenever my immune system weakens for some reasons (poor diet, stress, etc). The thing always appears around my lips, sometimes inside my nose (once it appeared near my eye). Unfortunately, this tends to happen at least once in two months, and it really pisses me off (excuse my bluntness). I have tried all meds I could find, but none seem to be able to prevent it well.
I'm 17 weeks pregnant and Yesterday I broke out in cold sores. I haven't gotten any in over a year and usually it's just one tiny one. This time its three big ones and my lips look like I went through horrible botox!! And for the first time it kinda burns. I'm already using a topical cream from rite aid, however I'm a waitress and looking this unsightly is no bueno for business. Any remedies on making these horrible little buggers go away asap??
Um absolutely a no no I wouldn't kiss my baby anywhere with a cold sore try using abreva for it it's over the counter I used to work in a obgyn office and the docs used to tell pts to buy over the counter first b4 they prescribed a rx. Good luck and congrats.
