A week after contact I started experiencing numbness and an odd sensation on my fingertip. I immediately started famciclovir the next day (8 days post potential exposure) My finger still feels numb/ slightly cold/ very mildly swollen with red spots and hyperaensitivity at the tip (havent been touching anything with that finger) which is 1.5 weeks. Toxoplasmosis, Cryptococcis, Bartonella, Feline infectious peritonitis, feline immunodeficiency, and feline leukemia virus often present as anterior and posterior uveitis, chronic uveitis, retinal detachment, and secondary glaucoma, which just means that systemic diseases can result in ocular disease such as sudden onset of blindness. Your cat did test neg for feline leuk. but your cat should be tested for these other common diseases.
We have some kittens about 6 weeks old and they have been acting lethargic and having green ***** eyes and diarrhea. One of our adult cats (not their mother) has symptoms of Feline Leukemia? and I am concerned about these kittens. Is there anything we can do for this? Is there any treatments available that is not real expensive that can be administered to them?

When I started prophylactic treatment with acyclovir, I saw a reduced occurrence for a few months, then they came back to about 4-5 outbreaks/year. I recently switched prophylactic medication from acyclovir to famciclovir, and had a 18-month period free from outbreak. Come yesterday, I had another terrible outbreak (worse than usual)... will these become more commonplace now? Is this a sign of HSV-resistance to the drug? Are there any other courses of action I can consider?
Did you take her to the ophthalmologist today? Did your regular vet test your cat for feline leukemia and feline Aids? Unequal pupil size is called anisocoria. I answered a similar question in June, 2007 which I have copied below. Please let us know what the veterinary ophthalmologist finds!

I have had oral sex with my partner who has Genital Herpes 2 and I thought we did everything 'right' in preventing it being passed on to me. He hasn't had it for some time. Just 1 week before sexual exposure, I had finished taking Famciclovir 250mg for HSV-1 outbreak. And it cured.
After 123 days(4 months) from last risky sexual exposure and 130 days from FAMCICLOVIR completion, I took HSV2(IGM and IGG) test and it turned out negative. I did not got any symptoms on genital area.
Can I consider this as confirmatory for HSV-2 in my body?
Should I need to go for more test? if so when to take the test? It is 4 months now completed from risk.
I've had HSV-1 since my college days. 15-20 years or so. I get outbreaks on and near my lips every few months, but after going on antivirals (Famciclovir 250 mg 2x/day) it's been lessened.
My first question, being: if I have had the virus for this long, is there still a chance of me cross-contaminating myself with my own infection to other parts of MY body? (e.g., it's on lips to moving to my eyes, or hands, etc.
Recently I trapped two strays that tested positive for feline leukemia and had to put them down. I am worried about this one have contracted it since I have two healthy indoor cats being kept separate from this stray. My questions are: is she likely to have the disease if she was vaccinated 2 years ago? Since my indoors are vaccinated, will they be less susceptible to this disease? If I get the stray to the doctor and she tests negative how long must i wait before exposing her to my other cats?
One week prior to taking my hiv test i took Famciclovir for shingles would this interfeer with the results?
But anti-viral medications like acyclovir, valacyclovir and famciclovir are known to shorten out breaks and improve symptoms. It depends on one’s immunity also. If it is good the person may have less number of reactivations. If the immunity is relative less than he is likely to have more symptoms.
