1659011 tn?1307486147 Make sure you stay hydrated and get up slow. (My medication used to make me so dizzy that I would throw up and pass out all of the time). If you are really concerned about this near-fainting and shortness of breath, perhaps you should talk to your doctor. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I DO have discomfort in my chest, but only periodically, and only when staning up after sitting for quite a while. When i stand up quickly, i feel pressure in my chest and head, and my heart beats really, really hard. Not fast, but hard. It goes away after about ten seconds, but it is horribly uncomfortable when it happens. I know that I have orthostatic hypotenison. Could this be the cause of this?
Avatar f tn (in one spot, not walking) i start to get hot n dizzy.i went to white waters today n we were standing in line n all the sudden i got real hot n dizzy.my eats felt real wierd n my vision got blurry for a couple seconds n i felt nauses.it really concerned me because i have never felt that before.i felt like i was going to pass out.
Avatar f tn This could result in a drop in blood pressure once you either sit up from lying down or stand up suddenly. Please follow up with the cardiologist as this can further result in decreased ejection fraction. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
2190999 tn?1504988891 Has anyone ever had lightheadeness only when looking up and standing up. I understand why I could get lightheaded when standing, but why would I become lightheaded just from looking up or raising my head up after looking down? I also get a pit in my stomach (nauseated) when this happens. I was just recently told by neurologist that migraines were the cause of a number of neuro symptoms Ive had since March.
Avatar n tn The complex group of symptoms are mediated by the vagus nerve. This nerve is irritated by prolonged standing, standing up suddenly, stress, pain, hunger, dehydration, intense emotion etc. A tilt table test, holter monitor, echocardiogram etc are done for confirmed diagnosis. Discuss this with your doctor and get this evaluated as soon as possible. Your husband should avoid going to toilet empty stomach in morning as this potentiates the effect of this reflex. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn Well last week, I came home from work and was standing in the doorway having a conversation with my mother-in-law when I all of sudden got a feeling of standing up to fast (but I had been standing there for at least 5 to 10 mins) Everything went black and I woke up laying on the ground and she was standing over me yelling my name, She said I looked very confused, and I couldnt answer her for a few mins.
Avatar m tn Lately, I've been having problems with balance when standing up after lieing down. I become faint and often have to steady myself before moving on. On several occassions, I have actually have actually blacked out, albeit briefly, but nevertheless fell and hit my head. I immediately got up and luckily have not hurt myself. Would you tell me what this is symptomatic of and what kind of physician I should be discussing this with.
1923882 tn?1352250106 Sometimes it is due to low blood sugar, and sometimes it is caused by moving to fast or standing up too quickly. If it happens alot then you may want to go get checked.
Avatar m tn He sort of just fell and he did not put his arms out so i know he fainted while standing up, he hit his head on the ground hard and he was "sleeping" for about 30 seconds to a minute. My dad rolled him on his side and tried waking him up and he got up eventually. He does not know what happened or how he got in his bed, where he walked to about five minutes after he got up. So if anyone knows what this is or what is causing this it would help me out a ton thanks.
Avatar f tn I use to have fainting spells. It is normal to get light headed when you go from a sitting to standing positon, but to pass out regularly isn't normal. You may be dehydrated, or you may be anemic if you are female, especially if you have heavy cycles. This is just my 2 cents based on my previous experience, but I would go to a GYN doc or your family doctor and ask them to check your Hemoglobin, which is the component of the red blood cells that deliver oxygen to the body.
Avatar f tn I had fainting spells around 13 weeks til I was 18 weeks and it's normal to get light headed from standing up to quickly. I would call your doctor and tell them what happened.
Avatar n tn This summer I fainted about 1/2 hour after take off from Canada. Definitely adequately hydrated. Fainting feeling occurred while seated. Fainted once in the seat, and once standing up. Usual blood pressure is 110/60 or 70.
Avatar m tn I just stumbled upon this. Your BP symptoms elevation while getting up is known to be from adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue is not recognized by most conventional MD's, rather alternative MD's and Naturalpaths. It does exist, google it. Do you feel tired AND wired? - thats adrenal fatigue.
Avatar f tn These symptoms have persisted for years (some longer than others) and have begun to deeply affect my life the past 2 years (I have failed 2 college classes for being kicked out due to absences for doctors’ appointments, oversleeping, and lethargy in class, as well as recently racked up medical bills after fainting episodes began). I have seen 2 Cardiologist, Neurologist, and Endocrinologist.
126762 tn?1325261805 my sister, age 22, and 13 weeks pregnant, this morning was at work, while standing she felt faint, then walked out of the room, everything went black (she described it as thinking she went blind), then leaned against a wall... and fainted and woke up on the floor, she was sweating and shaking right before that. When she woke up, she went to the bathroom and threw up, and was shaky afterwards... this afternoon she had what she says was very little spotting (5 or 6 hours later).
Avatar f tn But i dont remember standing too long or something (because i was at home all this while). Previous few attacks like this, other doctors did mention something about "balance in the inner ear", which is related to this. But none prescribed a medi for me regarding this.
Avatar f tn ve had fainting anxiety for a while. Whenever I come near to a set of stairs, or public bathroom for example. There are just certain situations that I really don't want to faint in! Without medication I faint approximately four times per week, but with medication it's reduced to about twice per month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Throughout the years I've had random months of better control, and random months of poorer control. It doesn't always make much sense to me.
Avatar n tn you probably feel like fainting because you may not be getting enough oxygen and blood flow when while you move from standing position to sitting. Im not a doc but try drinking a lot more water and caffeinated drinks and see if that changes your bp or how you feel when you sit.
Avatar f tn First time was during studying I was standing and answering questions. The second time was when a friend of mine was putting makeup on me, once again I was standing, but I kept moving my legs so I wouldn't lock them. The third time I was in college and I was sitting at a picnic table with some friends and I fainted. I am not sure what caused the fainting either time. All three were completely different and the length was different as well.
Avatar f tn s doing. There are two possibilities. Fainting after standing for a long time or during rest, is usually caused by vagal hyperactivity that causes a drop in the blood pressure, usually with a slow heart rate. This is more or less normal. Diagnosis is usually confirmed with a head up tilt table test, where he's "flipped" from supine to standing position when EKG and blood pressure is measured. Fainting with activity or high heart rate is almost never benign.
492921 tn?1321289896 So this afternoon I laid down on the couch I fell asleep so I decided to go back to bed I stood up and walked about 6-7 feet and everything went black and I had to hold myself up on the wall my knees were wobbling and I almost fell over. I know that getting light headed is common in pregnancy when you move from laying down to sitting or standing to fast. It just scared me that everything wen black and I almost fell.
403255 tn?1278813266 Make sure you aren't standing up too fast and that you aren't sleeping on your back at night. Anemia is a good one that is sometimes overloooked so definitely ask your mid-wife if she can check your iron levels.
Avatar n tn I would say that the fainting was probably due to low blood pressure from standing up too quickly. Most people have a small blood pressure drop when they stand up. If your blood flow isn't great (which I guess in theory could be related to ischemic colitis), then you can often have more of a blood pressure down when standing up, which can make you pass out. High blood pressure medications can contribute to this.
341190 tn?1295467125 whether I should push forward thru what may be anxiety or lay down and get my feet up to avert fainting. I have no answers but I sympathize and hope u get some advice we can both use. Congratulations on your new grandchild.
